I'll second that, he was awful when with us.

Yeah, I got that impression when he re-signed for us on loan, but he was great again for us - you only have to look at the praise he's getting on our forum to tell you how well he's done. He may not be the best yet, but he'll be among them next season.

EDIT: Plus he was finding his feet after a broken leg when he was with you - I suspect that's one of the reasons why he improved dramatically as the months went on.

Pretty sure it was widely reported, certainly at Notts end, that he'd been offered £150k a year.

And obviously they'd know...

Anyway even if he is on that, it's not a particularly huge amount these days, there's players who earn more then that in a week. And it's worth spending that bit extra on a top manager, can make all the difference.

1. Not in non league there isn't
2. He's not a "top manager", he's just the latest mediocrity recruited by Swampy on a hugely inflated salary.

No idea about bonuses, it's just common knowledge he got offered £3k a week to join FGR.

Easy to prove, show us the link to one of these widely reported articles.

Plus he gets win bonuses and another 50k on top for promotion. Must have a good agent!
Of course you know that how.

Common knowledge .. because he would tell random people what he was getting paid.

If you read what I typed, at no point did I mention an article. I didn't say it was widely reported via an article, I just said widely reported.

I don't know why the FGR lot are so quick to dismiss the figure. I've got no way of verifying it but football is a small world, especially at this level. You don't need to be particularly well connected to find things out. People talk.

Seems we're not the moneybags everyone keeps claiming.

The way I debunked that is that he is just trying to protect himself from any criticism he may receive if he fails this coming year. Managers such as Hockaday and Pennock got constant abuse for failing despite having the biggest budget in the league. By doing this, Cooper thinks he won't be subjected to the same kind of criticism (or as much) if he does in fact fail and therefore won't look as bad to outsiders.

Of course there going to come out and say that, if they keep showing everyone how bankrolled Forest Green are they'll keep getting held to ransom.

I'd agree if the £3k figure came from a bloke who washed Cooper's car in West Bridgford once, but it didn't. Although Cooper was very open and honest, hence why everyone within the club knew about the £3k a week thing.

I've just asked my mate who worked in comms at Notts County until last season, and knows people still there - says that figure's about right. Good enough for me.

Yes that's how you negotiate a better deal with your current employer, tell them you've been offered way more elsewhere. Hardly rocket science. Listen back to the Non League Show interview he did, where he specifically says all the rumours that our players are on £3k week is completely false and the manager is certainly not.

You realise that if he came out and said "Yes, we have several conference players on £3k a week", it would make the club look very stupid indeed.

Yet there is no evidence to contradict what he's saying, just people proferring made up stories to suit a narrative and believing rumours with no evidence. That's how religion works.

Strong rumours about Ousmane Fane attracting interest from Birmingham, Walsall and Derby.

And to think we had him on trial.

Hopefully you get a decent fee.

He was one of the better midfielders I saw last season, and was wondering if Nicho would try and use his Kiddy links. However I don't think we'll entice him with those clubs interested!

We're apparently close to signing a keeper on loan for the season from a league one club. Given Macca's Port Vale links wouldn't surprise me if it's Sam Johnson, although Gateshead are also in for him.

Can't see there being many links left between Kiddy and Nicho with the amount of changes at the club

Dayle Southwell to Lincoln 'a possibility' according to the man himself. No decision until he's finished with England C, whenever that is.

Lincoln City director has apparently hinted that we've bid £20-25k for Matt Rhead in a BBC Radio interview. Personally I wouldn't want him, but that's only based on one anonymous outing at Holker Street and the fact he's a big bloater. Would he do a job next season?

£20-25K on a 32 year old non league striker, that would be poor business in my opinion.

Dunno, if you split that over the two years he'll be contracted for, plus his wages, I'd guess the whole deal would cost about £1,750 a week. Basically, not is he worth £25k, but is he worth that wage?

It's been mentioned as that, but no-one has actually heard the interview.

About the most we're likely to get for, in theory given his age, a non-saleable asset after his only prolific season.

Would probably say Lincoln are doing better out of the deal to be honest, however Barrow seem to be putting together a good squad so can see them challenging the play offs next season.
