You could've said that at the start of the season though, and they've still struggled. Agree with the Cotterill bit though, he always came across as a bellend.

I'd take that Rory Donnelly at North End, pillage the Gills.

Stop being cruel. Hands off our Rory, he's not that good honest....

Anyway, Egan is out of contract in the summer

Is he rated or not?

Yes, he's the best centre back in the division. Not a big defender but very talented. The only player I've seen get the better of him for a whole match was Matt Smith when he was at Bristol City last season, and he was about 8 foot tall. As long as you have a big defender in your squad to challenge the giraffes then Egan would slot in anywhere.

Does look a good'un that Egan, a ball-playing centre back would definitely be on my shopping list in the summer but I imagine there will be a bunch of clubs in for him if he doesn't sign a new contract at Priestfield.

With regard to Egan, I have been watching the Gills for longer than I care to admit and in my humble opinion I would say that he is the best footballing centre half I have seen at Priestfield since Steve Bruce.
He may not be massively tall but he is not short either and is good in the air.
He is reasonably quick for a centre back.
He loves bringing the ball from the back and playing football with it.
He also scores goals, both with his head and from distance. He has scored a couple of beauties for us.
I believe that the only chance we have of getting him to sign a new deal is to get promoted this season. Even then it may not happen.

Sorry, what I meant to say is Egan and Dack are both shite so fuck off and leave them be!

Cool so we'll buy him as well and play him alongside Flint :2thumb:

That's quite a side you are putting together there, with Dwight Gayle, Andre Gray, Zac Clough, Bradley Dack and now John Egan.

Oh, hang on a minute......
We have the best 'potentially signing but probably won't' team in the league

We'd be stupid to go back in for more than £1m for a player who has never played in this division and may not be wanted for a new manager. Hope we leave it now.
Totally agree JJH.....Hope this goes no further

Yep, I hope you do too :bye: He can do far better, as Edinburgh has said.

Probably could, but if we get the new gaffer in and he wants to pursue this deal he'll get him.

I get the impression that you don't think much of BCFC Joe, any particular reason why?
Stunning new stadium, obscenely wealthy owner, lovely city etc etc.

Nothing at all against Bristol City as a club, apart from the arrogance of a lot of the talk coming out of your club that we'd accept a derisory offer because your club is so much bigger and better than our own. If you pay the money that he's worth then sure, he goes with all our blessings, but it grates to hear that we should almost just be honoured that a club like City are interested in one of our players. If your fans were maybe a little more modest then it might be easier to talk with you.

Aye, I'm too sensing the hostility towards us. Not sure why like, but whatever keeps him going.

Supposedly we want him to replace Harlee Dean.

Still a bit of shambles that we're letting Dean go IMO. Shows a lot of ambition by the club that they think they'll be able to get better.

It's not that - you're deluding yourself into thinking that Dack is worth more than £1m. He's not. He may well be worth more than £1m to Gillingham, but that doesn't reflect his true value. He's only been performing in L1 for a season, and he's no better than Luongo and Freeman were in that league and they've both struggled with the step up.

How on earth do you decide a 'true value' if not what he's worth to his club? This isn't Football Manager, where everyone has a set value all of the time - there's so many factors, and seeing as I've laid all of them out to you several times and you still haven't managed to get your head round it then I'm not sure what else I can do.
