Nothing to get overtly excited about but it gives us options. Not sure where Pearce will fit in. Flint and Baker looked very good on Saturday in a back four.

Gladwin looked a good player last season and hasn't really happened for him since. Will be interesting to see how he does.

The chairman has put on Twitter that Newport will get nearly 7 figures from the deal for Washington and has confirmed the sell on clause was 20%. Makes me think that the deal was actually worth more than 3 million!

If that is true, the the transfer fee would be between 4 & 5 million.

Madness!

I thought it was £2.5m upfront with the potential of rising to £5m?

What I found interesting was that your Chairman tweeted:
Darragh MacAnthony ‏@DMAC102 1h1 hour ago
Bit of Info, fee agreed with another club last week but foreign owner pulled plug as wanted his manager to sign a Polish Striker.Madness imo!

Now, it was rumoured that both Sheffield Wednesday and Reading were after Washington also. And this tweet comes out the same day we are linked to a Latvian/Polish striker playing in the Polish league. Not that i'd mind if our owners decided against it, that fee for Washington is ridiculous.

Has already replied to a Reading fan saying that "Brian loved him" [Washington]

That's quite a side you are putting together there, with Dwight Gayle, Andre Gray, Zac Clough, Bradley Dack and now John Egan.

Oh, hang on a minute......

Forget that lot we've got Arnold Garita mate

Pretty happy with Gladwin and Pearce. Hopefully the rumours of Pearce signing had caused some confusion with the bookies on our vacant manager position.

Bet Washington scores against us on Saturday, especially after being linked with us.

Aswell as the Ajax player were also looking at John Akinde from Barnet... nice to get brought back down to reality.

I would question the source, he had his contract extended today

George Evans signed from Man City on a three and a half year deal. Free transfer with performance related add-ons (and probably a decent sell-on clause).

If Cook's reported opinion to our previous bid is still correct, in that he doesn't want to leave the north, then it'll still be a struggle to get any deal done.

I literally have no opinion to offer on Tomlin. He's never been fit (with or without pie jokes), total waste of supposidly 3m quid.

If Cellino wants the cash, Cook will be going whatever he thinks tbh. And it'd be the final straw for many. If we're serious about ever mounting a promotion challenge, you have to add to your quality players - not replace them with sub-par ones. And even if people say "oh you have to accept 10 million in the Championship". We don't and the money would go nowhere (see LUFC's history for the past decade).

Kermorgant to Reading for 500k, medical today according to our local paper.
If true that's a profit on what we paid Charlton for him 2 years ago!

Also - Elliott Ward is off to Blackburn for a nominal fee.

As long as it's only 18 months i'll take him. Looks like Sa is off to either AEK Athens or Atalanta so we do need a big focal figure up front who might work well with Vydra.

Also a rumour by The Times saying that West Ham are after our CB Cooper. Even though he hasn't done anything to prove worthy of the fee, I would hope we'd hold out for a record free received (£7m+) were we to sell. He is potentially a very good CB (6"7 and good on the ball) and can be somewhat unfortunate to have only played 28 games for the club so far despite being only 20 years old.

Kids and grown ups love him so...

I can't even remember a player who has been with us such a short time being as loved as Yann Kermorgant. No way in hell we'd have got promoted without him.

We're all very sad but at 34 he wants and needs to play. I hope he becomes as much of a cult hero at Reading as he was with us. Even in his mid-thirties he has that touch of absolute quality that can change games.

Yes, scoring all those deserved/undeserved penalties that got you promoted.

It's actually a bit frustrating. If DF thinks we have a genuine tilt at the playoffs then we need better. If we are just aiming for a decent end to the season then play our own players, like Tyler Walker, who will no doubt become a better footballer than this lad. Absolutely pointless signing if we do get him IMO.

He couldn't have looked more out of his depth if he tried tbh. Much better off giving a youngster a chance.

Danny Graham is a good loan signing for Blackburn, goalscorer at this level.
