Kodjia is off to Hull, after matching our bid. Johnson claimed the valuation hadn't been met, but the truth seems to be that Derby weren't prepared to put up as much up front as Brizzle would have liked. Glad anyway, as I'm sure we can get someone far better for that money.

Vydra fee is ridiculous. Hope we get the Watford promotion season version, and not the Reading one.
Think we said it would take more for us to sell to a championship club, could be when Hull matched the value as they're a premier league club we accepted.

Did we officially have a bid in for him? I don't reckon we actually did. Zen gas indicated more incomming potentially in his after game today.

Officially? We haven't bid for Talisca or Balotelli. Chris Martin the only high-ish one.

You all seemed pretty certain it was nearly a done deal didn't you? Benfica president at Wolves to seal the deal and all that.

And the wages supposedly for Luisao?

Wont happen, using our club to garner interest from bigger clubs than ourselves, put himself in the shop window if you will.

Read above.

Still implies you were willing to shell out though

Not really, for example Port Vale were linked with Balotelli, don't think they had a chance of signing him though.

We were linked with the captain of Ajax not long ago, one of many deals were our club was used as a shop window.

For all the millions we have been rumoured to spend this summer, we have so far spent a grand total of £4m on 9 players. Infact if you look at our business since January, we have actually turned over a net profit since we sold Afobe for £10m.

Supposedly the two players we were "almost certain to sign" have now pulled out of the deals.

This window has been a bit of a farce for us unfortunately. Still a good 3-4 players sold last season we are still waiting to replace.

Yep keep having adds pop up saying I'm winning things. Just this site.

As for Kodjia, not even dissapointed. Hell of alot of money and convinced we'd have a couple lined up. Seem so more organised this season.

Big aspect in how our transfer dealing has improved is the fee's we're now getting for own players. Always used to be something we were terrible at, Maynard comes to mind immediately, but now even players deemed surplus to requirements we're getting decent money for. Agard rumoured £1m+, Williams 800k, Ayling similar. In years gone by they'd have been stuck on the bench or out of the squad until their contract ran down and we let them go for free. And £14m for Kodjia? He's great, but that's ridiculous

Well in Mr Ashton! :2thumb:

Are you likely to come again for Kodjia? Surely you'd be done over by FFP, given you spent £20m last summer as well?

We spent £20m last summer did we? Ha! Never heard that one before. We broke our transfer record by shelling put £2.1m on Bjelland, and we bought a couple of others around the £1m mark. About £5m spent in total and most of those spread across 3 and 4 year contracts.

£20m... :bl:

Erm, toshj I was quite obviously talking about Derby if you still haven't noticed.

Edit: sorry, I didn't realised I'd quoted Magpiebee's post, the forum has been shite for me the last few days.

Murphy confirmed then for undisclosed - thought to be around £3m with McCarthy promising reinvestment. Disappointed to see Murph had in the request so close to the deadline, it's left us in a bit of a worry, but I guess it didn't happen until N'castle interest was confirmed.

Good luck to him.

Think that'll be us done for strikers then. Been said before but it's a bit of a strange one like but I guess it's proven experience at this level and much like Clarke at the back, he's been signed for depth.

And if it 3.5M, in this market it's a steal.

Snap their hands off! Just crazy money in this league this summer. No wonder we're struggling big time to get players in.
