I think Brereton will be the one to go. Britt has a new deal and his injury record is a bit ropey, so can't see anyone paying what we would want. We paid £6m, imagine we'd want £10m or so because goalscorers are pricy nowadays.

Rhodes will be the top scorer in the league next season. Shocked to see some Wednesday fans saying they wish we could pull out of deal!

If you did get Assombalonga (or someome of that quality), how on earth can you keep a strikeforce of...

Assombalonga (or another new signing)
Rhodes
Forestieri
Fletcher
Winnall
Hooper
Joao
Nuihu

... happy. I presume you'll sell a couple in that case. Either way it's a hell of a strikeforce, but I can't imagine a dressing room of big names like that being happy with a lack of game time.

We don't need any more strikers that's a cert, we need a fast winger and a way of playing that will get more goals for the front men. Rhodes and Hooper should be our front two next season for me, with Fletcher and Winnall competing for a place, Forestieri should never be used as a striker again, either wide left or just behind the strikers. I'd sell/loan Joao out as it's not working for him here but he does have undoubted ability. Nuhiu won't go anywhere, won't be on huge money and can be quite useful in certain situations.

Thought Villa were supposed to be in trouble with FFP, and had no budget? If that was true, how can they afford Terry's wages?

We've had a laughable £1m offer rejected for Andre Wisdom. Would love him back, and is probably the only player I'd be happy to see come in and replace Christie.

Joe Garner set to sign for Ipswich tomorrow. Thoughts TomPNE94 SF_ ?

Was wasted as a target man for us in the Championship, Grayson set us up to not lose in our first season back and anyone playing up front was fighting a losing battle.

Needs to be played in a front two alongside a proper target man and then i've no doubt he would get goals, especially in a side that puts crosses in.

We've been linked with Josh Harrop, a Man United youth player.

It's in the daily mail though so don't know how much truth there is, although we do love a Man United youngster.

No idea where this guy would fit in, we don't play DJ in his correct position so this guy would probably be in the same boat.

We need a proper central midfielder.

Sunderland about to get 30m quid for Pickford to ease their financial transition to the Championship

Fucking ridiculous fee for him, he's good but anything over 10m is a robbery, Everton know Sunderland are treading water (at best) financially so makes zero sense to chuck em that much.

Pickford is worth every penny, will be Everton's and England's number 1 for the next decade, if he leaves Everton then it will be to a top 4 club for a profit.
Not a fucking chance is he worth anywhere near £30m, he's decent don't get me wrong but he is very naive at times and culpable for goals he should be saving, he's shone cos Sunderland are fucking toss.

Ross McCormack cost £15m, as did Kodjia.

Pickford is different class, best i've seen in the flesh.

I'm not sure comparing strikers to goalkeepers means much to be fair mate.

Yep and I appreciate that, I've seen him lobbed from 50 yards too, I'd rate Westwood as the best Wednesday keeper I've seen in the flesh but Schmeichel, Seaman are better and miles ahead of where Pickford is now.

It shows today's market, Pickford is the best young goalkeeper in the country and the fee reflects that.

I'd trust Ronald Koeman to identify talent.

No it shows English players are overvalued, Everton would be smarter getting Hart for the next two seasons for a fraction of that price.

As for Koeman, he's spending the Lukaku money early.... :D

I'd rather sign a keeper that could realistically be number 1 for the next 12 or so years, if he continues improving then they could quite easily make a profit on him.

Hart is done at European/ International level, will probably end up playing somewhere like Watford or Crystal Palace.

Perfect for Everton then :D

I see both sides of this debate fella, just think £30m is WAY over priced and ranks him as the 3rd highest goalkeeper transfer of all time.

30m for Pickford is insanity. Then again transfer fees are ridiculous nowadays so it's probably in line with the norm.

Pretty much every keeper gets rave reviews when playing for a relegation threatened side.

Pickford looks nothing special to me, I have no doubt he'll be a decent keeper but I wouldn't rate him having better chances than any number of young England goalkeepers.

£30m is a joke of a fee, agree with Walkley, £15m would have been my ceiling, and that's still putting an awful lot of value on his potential.

We'll see, I think he'll be a top, top keeper for years to come, every now and then you just see a player that is something else and he's one of them. Thought the same when i've seen the likes of Dele Alli, Defoe, Rooney, Daniel Sturridge etc play at a young age and I think he's in that bracket.

I think if you look at the kinds of fees other top young goalkeepers went for, it's clear that they are overpaying.

A few obvious examples being:
Neuer - £21m
De Gea - £18m
Ter Stegen - £10m
Courtois - £5m

All of them, with the exception of Courtois, had already played at a very high level (the top 3 all doing very well for top sides in European competition). Even if you factor in the cost of young English talent, £30m for Pickford doesn't stack up. The difference in skills and ability needed to play well for a team where most attacks against you come on the counter, where you may go from having nothing to do all game to needing to be at your best in an instant, against a team where your defence are stacked in your box constantly, are huge. We've seen plenty of times where keepers "playing well" for a relegated side can't hack it as soon as they go to a team not in trouble.
