It's an initial fee of £22m plus future add ons.
We'll see, I think he'll be a top, top keeper for years to come, every now and then you just see a player that is something else and he's one of them. Thought the same when i've seen the likes of Dele Alli, Defoe, Rooney, Daniel Sturridge etc play at a young age and I think he's in that bracket.
I think if you look at the kinds of fees other top young goalkeepers went for, it's clear that they are overpaying.
A few obvious examples being:
Neuer - £21m
De Gea - £18m
Ter Stegen - £10m
Courtois - £5m
All of them, with the exception of Courtois, had already played at a very high level (the top 3 all doing very well for top sides in European competition). Even if you factor in the cost of young English talent, £30m for Pickford doesn't stack up. The difference in skills and ability needed to play well for a team where most attacks against you come on the counter, where you may go from having nothing to do all game to needing to be at your best in an instant, against a team where your defence are stacked in your box constantly, are huge. We've seen plenty of times where keepers "playing well" for a relegated side can't hack it as soon as they go to a team not in trouble.
Had he looked after himself a bit more i'd maybe agree but he is as much to blame for his injuries (his attitude and desire is wank)Quality player hampered by injuries, 46 league goals in 89 games for Liverpool, 8 in 12 for Bolton...
His tally would have been up there with your Fowler's and Ferdinand's if it wasn't for his knees.

This. Loads of examples of Goalkeepers looking really good for poor sides...Mignolet looked a top keeper for Sunderland too...
I'm not using it as a negative, I'm saying you need to temper your expectations and valuations of a Goalkeeper in that situation because it is set up for them to "excel" or appear better than they might be.Pickford has those skills, his distribution is top class, as is reading of the game.
You're using the fact that Sunderland were poor and that he was under constant pressure as a negative, there's no reason why he couldn't excel further in a side that likes to play out from the back and dominate possession.

Even if you think Pickford now is as good as those other goalkeepers were at the time they were signed by their respective clubs (which I think everyone here would say is ridiculous) then clearly it is still a bad deal for a goalkeeper as he's still costing them more than £10m more than any of those other deals.
My final point is that if Pickford is as good as you are saying he is, he wouldn't be going to Everton.
He's no Richard Wright......The English market has moved on since the signings you're talking about due to the new TV deal, so £22m for Pickford doesn't surprise me at all.
City have spent £43m on Bernardo Silva, while David Silva cost around £23m in 2010.
Neuer, De Gea and Courtois all moved in 2011, it's also nothing new that fees for English players are slightly inflated. He'
and where else is he going to go? United still have De Gea, Spurs have Lloris, Chelsea - Courtois, Arsenal - Cech and City have spent £35m on a Benfica keeper which is seemingly fine as he's foreign and fashionable... Those clubs aren't in the market for a keeper.
I'm surprised Liverpool aren't competing with Everton for him but I think he has every chance of playing for one of the clubs mentioned above at some point.

Stockdale to Birmingham
Blades signed Baldock from MK Dons. Decent signing, just cover for Freeman though I suppose?
After Westwood....Stockdale is now a done deal.
Arguably the best goalkeeper in the Championship. We have got to be happy with that.
Aye 4.5 mill is good business for Liverpool for Wisdom, hope he has a good career and I hope they use that 4.5 mill to get Salah over the door. Anyway I'll piss off back to the PL forum. We've agreed an initial 2m fee for Andre Wisdom, potentially rising to 4.5m. The potential final figure is too much for him but I imagine a lot of it will be based on promotion add ons as per previous our previous transfer dealings. When you compare it to signing Anya outright for 4 million last summer it doesn't look bad at all though!
Was a good player for us but that's a fair few years ago, be interesting to see what he's like now. Seemed to have a good year at RB Salzburg last time out winning the double.

In the queue behind Al-Habsi....After Westwood....
