Raul Jimenez linked, Mexican striker for Benfica.
Nooo? A player in Portugal linked with Wolves? Shocking. It'll get to the point soon where more players in the Primeira Liga will be linked to Wolves than not.

Elmohamady is meant to be heading our way and Veretout to St Etienne today.

Because Mick is clearly talking shit here, making a excuse as to why the player didn't join Ipswich

Maybe so, but I'd take the word from a man who is involved in football, and was involved in trying to sign the player in question, over a fellow forum user (no offence to Madejski).

Money connected to football transfers is nothing what it was like even a few years ago, nothing would surprise me to be honest.

Didn't Garner get six in 44 in 15/16?

Joao in his first season in the FL got 8 in 48 in all comps, I'd suggest that is marginally better as he was a sub more often than not.

You said this level. He scored 6 Championship goals as well in 15/16 in a much better team. He scored 3 last season.

That isn't 'more prolific'.

In our first season back at this level our creativity and quality from out wide was next to zero, i'm suprised Garner got as many as he did.

Either way, he's got good feet but Joao is still a headless chicken in front of goal hence why you're shipping him out.

He's too many better players ahead of him, hence his shipping out, how many goals to starts compared to Garner in 2015/16.

Redundant debate mind as Garner is no longer your player.

I don't have a clue how many he started, was still in a side with a lot more quality/ attacking intent.

Might not be our player anymore but I appreciate the job he did for us in a defensive set up.

Yes he's still with us but been injured a fair bit not to mention being banned for the first two games.

Unusually, I'm with the mild-mannered, thoughtful, measured, knowledgable Walkley on this one.

Garner's recent record at this level: 2015/16, 6 in 41 games..a goal every 9 hours. Using the word 'prolific' could fall foul of the Trade Descriptions Act.

With Joao, last season 3 goals in his 23 matches is a goal every 6 hours. Previous season, goal every 5 hours.

His form as a bit part player for Forest 5 or 6 years ago doesn't really concern me.
His form in last few seasons hasn't been stellar either. Would rather have Joao each season. Garner's a good League 1 striker. Possibly a wise investment by McCarthy then.

Quite possible Joao's being shipped out simply because Weds have better strikers available.

Joao has a lot of talent and was getting Portugal call ups just 18 months ago, would choose him over Garner everytime. Just injuries and the fact he's got about 5-6 quality Championship forwards in the squad to compete with.

As for Matias I've got faith he's going to stay fit this season and play a big part, think he's only suspended for the first game Walkley?

Wilder obviously really wants him , why don't our owners just give you what you want I can't imagine it to be that much. He's turned down new contract hasn't he?

Oh yeah he definitely wants the move and has rejected our contract offer but we won't sell unless our valuation is met. He's seen as vital for our quest to be promoted this year and promotion is seen as to be worth more than we are currently being offered. Latest offer was 600k with add-ons our journo reckons - I think we'd accept a million with add-ons and a sell on clause

Our owners need to stop being tight bastards and give you the extra 400k then. I've no idea if he's any good that's for our manager to judge.

Better sell him soon before Wilder starts getting upset at you having the audacity to keep your own player :bg:

Nice to see that we angered Mick by taking his signing

He should get hired by 1FF for fishing like that.

Sadly for both him and Wolves, we paid an initial £750k with some minor add-ons.

Heard a similar fee as well. We wouldn't even get close to £3m.

Umm. No. That's done by the members of this forum. Everyone knows that. Who the fuck cares what managers think?!

Don't agree. MM didn't seem to be into that kind of game.
Is there a manager not into that kind of game?!? It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Mick is lying: it's an easy way out for him, avoiding stick from fans. But to be honest the easiest way out would've just been to say that they weren't in for him (he is shit, after all).

Frazier Campbell has joined Hull... how long until he does his hammy in?

Holmes would be here had our owners offered enough.

Agreed.

Do you think they're likely to hold you back in the Championship? You seem to be struggling to take players off League One clubs or do you think it's genuinely just a case of only paying what you think they're worth?

I see Negredo is too expensive for us. He's expecting 100 grand a week. Not even our top Haitian striker, Duckens Nazon gets that. Or is it Nazon Duckens. Or Dazon. Whatever.
And we are still linked with Benik Afobe. Who dissed the fans when he went. Think I'd rather take my chances with Lucas Joao. And Joao Garninho.

Re Afobe, I think he would be the best fit for us. He is a proven goalscorer at this level and already had a very good spell for us. Moxey didn't help when he left and only stirred the pot between the fans and the player to take blame away from himself. A striker like Afobe could be the difference between promotion or staying down here, Hopefully everything he said about the fans/club would be forgotten about if he joined.

A bit of both to be honest. I'm not gonna slag McCabe off because he's done his bit and put his money in over the years, he clearly doesn't want to invest heavily again and I suppose is waiting for the right person to come and take over. As for the Prince bloke well what a complete waste of time he's been since investing. But then on the other hand it's a fucking disgrace what shit players are going for and can fully understand why they wouldn't want to part with millions for overpriced players.

Hopefully that means they'll fuck off offering peanuts for Zohore now then.
You'll be lucky to keep him: as has been said in this thread before there is a lack of good goalscorers at the minute
