Andy Lonergan is the worst keeper ever to have lived.

I'd go Jamie Jones, closely followed by Lonergan.

Sorry to bring him up if you some how managed to forget how utter wank he was.

I can't even believe that figure is being talked about and its not even tongue in cheek.

Are there reports round your way that you had a bid rejected for him?
No confirmation of a bid this week, but he is definitely someone that we have considered and the interest is genuine

For over £8m I hope we do not go desperate and pay your asking price. No way is he worth that much. I'd rather just risk a smaller amount on someone else. Bodvarsson is decent, Kermorgant will be back in October/November - All we really need for now. No worse off than we were last season.

For £10m I'd want you to throw in Pearson for free..

I'd value Pearson far higher than I would Hugill and I think the club would too.

Stam just confirmed that he thinks Hugill will stay at Preston now, looks like you've out-priced us.

According to him we are still going to try for Nelson Oliveira and Sone Aluko.

Busy week at the CG it seems with at least 2 to come in. Think one is gonna be Frederick Ronnow, Danish GK, from Brondby. The other will be a defender and we are being strongly linked with Harlee Dean from Brentford who would be a superb addition too.

We've also had a bid rejected for McGinn at Hibs who's a CM. Don't know anything about him alas.

Also think there will be some outgoings with Hobbs, Lam, Lica and possibly one more on their way.

TRIO EYE HUGILL

Birmingham, Wolves and Reading are reportedly battling to sign Preston striker Jordan Hugill, the Birmingham Mail reports.

The Blues saw two offers for the 25-year-old turned down over the summer, according to the newspaper, with Reading also having an £8m bid rejected.

Wolves are also said to be preparing a £10m bid for Hugill ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

North End are playing a fucking blinder here.

Bloody hell you're gonna get more than we did for Chris Wood

Expecting us to bring in a striker from abroad tbh. I'm sure Hugill's a talent but I'd be disappointed if we spent the majority of our Wood money on someone like him if I'm honest...

It is a risk going international for signings but we got Jansson, Saiz and Alioski for the same price Preston are rejecting for Hugill...

On the plus side, it's hard for us to have an awful end to the window as all of our best players have only just joined us! We'll have to be in a decent position come January or Jansson, Saiz, Alioski etc. will start getting serious interest from elsewhere - just glad we've tied them down long-term so we'd make some serious profit. Fingers crossed we can hang on...

We're being linked with Jack Hobbs, probably on loan for the season, hope it's true because we're desperate for a centre back. Thoughts, Forest and Hull fans?

Lasogga looks to be our striker. Bit of a mehh as he's gone from hot property to Hamburg being desperate to get rid but we'll see.

If you can get that money.. £8m could be the biggest bid you ever get for him.

Sounds like we have moved onto other targets now, as have Wolves. Completely out-priced.

These new owners need to stop shafting us and bring back Shane Long.

If we don't get over £8m then we keep him till January at least, win win.

Who would PNE get with 3 days left of the window?

They haven't had to do anything, they've sat back and effectively let all the interested parties outprice each other. Someone is either going to pay ridiculously over the odds or they keep their man. Good work.

They would have planned for fall-back options if Hugill was to leave. They've been receiving bids for him all Summer.

Their scouting department must be good at finding these players for cheap and making them worth this much. What's to say they can't do it again?

I agree that keeping your man is a good thing, but sometimes the money is too good to turn down. They may never receive £8m+ bids for him again, especially given he has two years left and is refusing to sign a new deal. He could be worth a fraction of that amount in January/next Summer.

I think we are stupid for even (if the rumours are true) bidding £8m for him. I really hope we move onto other targets. Nelson Oliveria was our original target and looks like could be the cheaper option.

Difference this time is they will have only 3 days to get someone in with clubs holding them to ransom knowing they're desperate with 8+mil to spend.

Preston and us have quite similar methods, in terms of trying to boost our revenues by playing the transfer market, but the danger in holding on too long is you end up with players leaving on free transfers - looks like we might lose Vibe, Bjelland, Dean and Jota for free this year, that's half our team (and if we'd sold them all last year, probably over £20m+ worth of players).

I would have snapped people's hands off at £6m for Hugill, doubt they've got a bid as high as £8m and turned it down.

It's making bids like 15m for Assombalonga look like a bargain, which I never thought I would have said at the start of the summer.

8 million is a huge amount of money for us but in my eyes Hugil is vital to how we play. If we have serious ambitions of reaching the play offs this season then we need to keep him.

And I think the board are looking at it that way too looking at how we have performed these first 5 games. There is a very good feel factor around PNE at the moment and everyone is starting to believe this squad is capable of a top 6 finish.

Fair play to the board though. I honestly thought we would accept around the 6 million mark.

We have, from Reading, first offer from them was made up of daft addons but the second was £8m guaranteed cash.

Our owner isn't one to gamble so he must think this could be our best crack at promotion, or he knows someone is going to absolutely lose their shit and offer something massive.

If he carries on playing like he is, his valuation won't have decreased in January.

No doubt he will sign now, but I would be surprised if Wolves had even tentatively looked at Hugill, they seen to want a big strong, yet fairly mobile forward to be involved in the play. Bonatini actually looks decent and is unlucky to not have more than the one goal.
