Stephen Kingsley and Jon Toral have finally signed. Comrade Slutsky says we're also "very close" to a striker.

Isaac Success it seems.

Potentially very good with his pace and tricks but injury prone and typical hit and miss.

Why don't we just bid a normal amount for him. Some of the fees we've been willing to pay for worse players make no sense and then a player like Jota comes available and we muck about.
Yeah, seems odd that you'd pay £6.5m for Fletcher but start so low for Jota.

Club has confirmed we've rejected two bids for Jota, one from Boro for £4.5m + add ons.

That is an insulting opening bid for Jota. With some valuations going around nowadays I wouldn't consider anything under £10m.

£10m for a player available on a free in 9 months? Even with today's prices that's crazy.

They'd be lucky to get more than £3m for him in January.

Oh, was under the impression he had a few years left on his deal... maybe not 10m then.

No way would I sell for £1m. Very useful squad player, happy to do what's best for the team and is capable of contributing. Don't see what the point would be of getting rid for that money when we've received over £20m in fees this summer.

He may be back up but he's the best back up we have at the moment.

I'd want £2.5-3m in today's market.

I like him, definitely capable of winning the odd game from the bench

He's steady but we've no reason to sell other than his contract is up at the end of the season...which is an issue but I've more faith in him off the bench than Sacko or whoever, especially as you can throw him on regardless of game situation.

I wish, unfortunately he's probably played his last game for us now, especially as we have started badly, no incentive for us to keep him as a promotion push is unlikely.

I'd want £8m ideally, but I reckon we'd probably entertain offers around £6m plus a massive sell on %age

Seems like this one is happening. Anything is better than Diomande.

We've also made bids for Jota from Brentford (rejected) and Dicko from Wolves (rejected).

I'd sell Dicko personally, but it will leave us with one striker so I can't see it happening

With Mason leaving we'd be mad to sell Dicko as then we wouldnt have a mediocre striker to moan about. Especially now we cant afford Grant Holt because of FFP.

Yeah it won't happen now Mason has gone, unless someone offers crazy money which I doubt will happen either. I don't even think we're desperate for a striker either. Liverpool played last season with 3 attacking forwards (Coutinho, Mane and Firmino). We could do the same thing with Costa/ Cavaliero/ Jota/ Enobakhare/ Zyro/ Graham/ Marshall/ Ronan. All that and still have Bonatini and Dicko if we did want to play a striker.

Also the Hull bid was 3m. I'd accept 4m if they offered it.

Still imagine selling Bodvarsson and Dicko for a combined 6m, the strikeforce that scored 6 goals in a combined 80+ games last season...

Some people seem to think we were watching Elliot Bennett at Blackburn the other night which would be a completely pointless signing on the face of it, he'd replace Vermijl on the bench, that's about it. Callum Woods played 90 minutes in a bounce game too.

We were due to sign James Jones from Crewe but the deal has fallen through because he's injured.

A deal to sell midfielder James Jones to a Championship club has fallen through.

Crewe Alex and the buying club were close to agreeing terms but it was called off late last night (Thursday).

It’s thought the 21-year-old’s lack of current match fitness affected negotiations, but the deal could be revisited in January.

Manager David Artell said: “James Jones will be a Crewe player.

“We got close but these things are not as straightforward as what most fans would realise, and it’s harder to sell an unfit player.

“There’s been offers, but he’s not the only one. There’s been plenty of offers, it’s part and parcel of the job.

“I called James last night and he’s been fine. There’s a word before footballer (professional) which they all are, and they have to understand what that means.

“If he was match-fit it might have been a different story. Now he has to get back in the team, score some goals and we’ll reassess in January.”

Jones, developed through the Alex academy, made his debut for the club in November 2014 and has made 108 appearances in total.

Last season he was a stand-out player in a difficult campaign for the Railwaymen, scoring 11 goals in 50 appearances and earning a call-up for Scotland under 21s, for whom he has four caps.

Another day, another update. We're apparently very close to signing Jackson Irvine from Burton. Quite happy with that.

So Leeds then

We'll be back, dickwads

no seriously Grot is obviously backup / future and it's clear Radz wants a striker in and with an estimated 13.5 million to spend (1.5mil on Grot) we will increase it I suspect

Radz said all Chris Wood money was going into the team

I imagine we would accept £7-8million. I wouldn't sell him tbh, he's looked really good so far this season and it's always a gamble trying to find a replacement so late in the window.

We're after Dangerous Dave Edwards from Wolves apparently (£1m). Any good?

Not sure we really need him, but would be good to have an experienced head in midfield alongside our youngsters.
