That sounds more like last season when we mainly played with Deeney up front in a defensive formation.

Now we are quite attacking (maybe too much) with wide players and attacking full backs.

Gray certainly hasn't been quality for us but maybe the Championship is more his standard.

We certainly don't defend like a Pulis team - as our goals against record shows.

He was good at Burnley.....

Yes - mainly in the Championship.

Burnley fans said he was very pacey but couldn't control a ball and was offside a lot which sums up his career with us too.

Never been a particular fan of Gray but can't fault his record. Whenever I've seen him, he's rapid, first touch is wank and needs 4 or 5 chances before he puts one away.

Alan Nixon remotely reliable?

Saying we're close to signing an attacker on loan from a Prem club.

Well he says we'll be after Hugill, so interpret as you wish.

Think he said 'Fancy Jordan Hugill' on that tweet, I read that as him doing an educated guess.

He seems a bit more certain on this potential loan signing.

Reporter at The Sun? I'm guessing he just gets fed info, some right, some wrong.

Harry Wilson at Liverpool is a name i've seen mentioned, if that's the case then I reckon we've missed out on Lewis Morgan from St Mirren.

WELSH starlet Harry Wilson is primed to move to Alex Neil’s Preston in their push for promotion.

The 20-year-old is on the fringes of Jurgen Klopp’s squad and available to go out on loan, with North End about to rush through a deal.

Talented Wilson can play anywhere in attack and would give Neil an extra dimension as he closes on a top-six position after three straight wins.

Wilson has only managed one senior game for the Kop despite becoming the youngest-ever player to appear for Wales when he was only 16.

The youngster is stuck at under-23 level and his career is in limbo, with Klopp keen for him to go out and learn at Championship level.

However Preston think he can give them a lift, with Neil looking to bring in two or three new faces at the start of the window to improve his club’s chances of Premier League football for the first time.

Fair enough, be a good signing that from what I read up on him last week when we were linked. Left winger but predominantly right footed.

We've supposedly watched Wilson a few times being interested in taking him on loan too, but with us having 4 wingers it would count against us probably.

We've got 4 or 5 players who can play out wide but not of them are traditional wingers in terms of getting to the byline and whipping crosses in.

Horgan can do it but Alex Neil doesn't want to start him for some reason.

Given the choice i'd rather bring in Lewis Morgan on a permanent deal than sign an inexperienced guy on loan, Celtic supposedly want Morgan though.

Linked with Colback in Newcastle's local rag today. Decent player but fucking £40k p/w he's on, we made that mistake with O'Neil. Rather see us spend the money on Walsh from Everton and take a gamble.

Interesting turn, clubs with more spending power than us might nip in and sign him now though.

Harry Wilson turns down new Liverpool contract as he eyes switch to Championship with Preston

Welsh youngster looks set to leave Anfield and join local side North End after finding game time hard to come by under Jurgen Klopp.

According to reports, the Welshman has opted not to sign a new deal at Anfield, with first-team opportunities limited for the 20-year-old.

Wilson made his debut in January, during the Reds' FA Cup win against Plymouth Argyle, where he played the last 26 minutes after coming on for Coutinho, but he has found regular first-team football hard to come by.

One option could be for the youngster to go out on loan, as seems to be the case for Reds youngster Ben Woodburn, but Wilson clearly does not see his immediate future on Merseyside.

Seems similar to the Harrop situation, realises he probably won't get a chance anytime soon so drop down to make a name for himself. Hope we get him.

Can't find a link which specifies when his contract runs out though, we might have a chance if it expires in the summer but if he has another year left then i'm not sure if we could afford him, if he's as highly rated as people claim.

Morgan looks Celtic bound so hope we get a deal done for Wilson.

A few rumours on our side. We're apparently getting William Remy on a free transfer, CB plays for Montpellier - his contract is up in the summer and Montpellier seem happy to tear it up. Think Leeds & QPR were linked with him in the summer. Shoud be a decent replacment for Dean.

We're also linked with a permanent deal for Sulley Kaikai from Palace. Didn't impress much when he was on loan here, and we're quite well stocked in wide areas. If it's true I assume we've lined him up as a potential replacement for Watkins should he be sold.

Also linked with a player from Brazil! There's a young goalkeeper out there called Pasinato who we are linked with. I'd imagine it again would only happen if we end up selling Bentley.

I hope he's got a massive sell on clause then! If nothing else, it protects the club.
Good player is young Josh and we'll do well to keep hold of him, among others.

Brownhill is different class, absolutely buzzing with the news. He won't go in January, but wouldn't be surprised if he went in the summer.. at least we will get a decent fee for him

Ben Marshall looks Derby bound in January, although Cardiff and Sheff Wed have declared an interest too. Good player if you play 4-4-2, just doesn't suit Nuno's 3-4-3 sadly.

He be sold in January
You do get false statements from footballers a lot but what he posted about signing a new deal sounds like he won't be off in January, maybe in the summer. I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson's just given permission to reject all offers.

They sold Todger , I don’t think they risk not cashing in say 8 mill for flint tbh.

Bryan again the same figure I see him going for

Reid ooc a purple patch 5 mill.

Alright saying that we are up there but lansdown wants a sustainable Club so selling is part of the game & if he gets big money moves for the Academy product he justified it.

As romantic as not sell anyone as they 3rd in the league is it not going to be the best business sense

Kodjia basically refused to play and wanted out, by the looks of it Brownhill doesn't want out so very different situations. The supposed lowest price we were considering for Flint in the summer was £6m, do you think that's only gone up by £2m? Given its January and Bailey Wright is playing RB so no obvious replacement to standard (Mags being left footed). LJ rates Bryan insanely highly and England have supposedly been watching him with interest, no way we sell him for under £10m and again especially in January when fees are bloated. Reid has a 1 year extension clause we can activate so not ooc.

There will still be interest in our players in the summer, yes we may not get as much but I can't see Lansdown insisting we sell players in January and risk that being the cause of us falling off the pace.
