I'm sure he's a promising young player but this is quite underwhelming. We've sent a couple of promising young midfielders out on loan with with the intention of bringing in experience to help us avoid the drop and so far we've brought in a striker who flopped at a middling club in this division. It's quite worrying as we haven't strengthened at all so far.

Well, this has completed for better or worse. Hope he helps.

Weird one from Johnny but fair play if that's what he wants.

I doubt the Flint thing, our centre backs are one of the main reason we are where we are in the league. Unless there's an immediate outgoing we don't yet know about I'd be surprised if we were in for him.

Johnny Russell has rejected a new deal at Derby, and said he wants to move to the MLS. Surprised he hasn't waited to see if Derby get promoted before making a decision.

Edit, sorry seen it was already covered.

Any chance of Brentford willing to do a deal with Ollie Watkins do you reckon? Howe very keen, but apparently the two club's valuations are currently far apart. Obviously talented and I doubt we're the only PL side looking at him.
Any idea on what each club’s valuations are?

We’ve apparently got a sell on, so I’m hoping he doesn’t got on a (relatively) cheap deal when he does get sold.

I have to say though, I’d be surprised if Brentford sold him after only a few months. If he keeps improving in the championship he could be worth double the amount this time next year.

You'd have no chance, £6m is laughable, you'd have to triple that for us to even consider selling to you currently.

I think he's probably not bothered about any sort of success from here on in if he's really keen on the MLS. Sounds like it's more for a lifestyle change than for footballing reasons which clearly makes sense. 250k with a sell on clause.

Sounds like bollocks anyway tbh, reckon it'll just be the agent/media talking a deal up for teams who are actually interested.

Our policy is that we’ll always sell if the price is right. From the figures being banded around at the moment sounds like it won’t happen though. You’ve bid £6m, we’re looking for £15m.

I don’t think he’s worth that, but he’s only just joined, is really young with bags of potential, and has a really long contract with us.

I've also seen that. Appears there's something in it. Good servant for us but I think his best years were at Brentford to be honest. Never really won over the doubters here, despite his efforts. A really big influence in the dressing room, but I can't imagine him being a regular if Rovers have genuine promotion ambitions (next season).
Think it’s more that L1 is his level, was out of the team pretty quickly once we got promoted (though to be fair he wasn’t bad, we just had insanely good depth at that position)

Played more in that Championship season than he has done for us this time around (though obvs a few years between periods). Though even in L1 he never fully earned the trust of our supporters. Great bloke though.

Morgan Gibbs-White signed a new 4 and a half year deal with us. Not been a bad couple of months for him, scoring in the final and winning a world cup, and now signing a long contract with your boyhood club.

Afobe deal 99.9% done.

I wonder if there has ever been a better front line than Afobe / Bonatini / Jota / Costa / Cavaliero in this league?

*Breaking* #AFCBourmouth striker Afobe subject of a club record £26m bid from #WatfordFC. Cherries were understood to be playing hardball but the Hornets are seemingly going all out to get their man. Expect this to go through before deadline day. Femenia on the way also? More on #SSN.

The sun reporting a deal done with palace for Hugill, our local reporter say that no contact has been made. We wouldn’t stand in the way of a premier league move for him I don’t think.

Also isn't Andre Gray and Benik Afobe effectively the same sort of striker? Seems insane that you would spend £26m on a carbon copy of what you already have.. and arguably Gray is better.

BBC are now reporting it. £8 million.

Supposedly no fee agreed with Palace.

Looks like there is something in this though.

Ask for £10m.

Preston play down Jordan Hugill to Crystal Palace speculation

Preston North End have played down speculation linking striker Jordan Hugill with a big-money switch to Crystal Palace.

A national newspaper carried a report that Premier League side Palace had agreed an £8m deal with North End for the 25-year-old.

On Tuesday morning, PNE said that Palace had not been in contact with them about Hugill. In fact, the last official contact from any club about the front man had been towards the end of the August transfer window when Reading had an £8m offer rejected. Hugill, who is contracted to North End to the summer of 2019, was expected to attract plenty of interest this month following the attention he got last summer. But it is only in the last 24 hours or so that speculation has started to surface.

It could well be that an agent is trying to drum up interest and the fact a Premier League club have been linked could indicate a top-flight move would be the only type sanctioned by North End rather than to a Championship rival.

If firm interest was to come in from the Premier League, the asking price would likely to be much higher than £8m - Hugill's former club Port Vale will be entitled to a percentage of any fee after agreeing a sell-on clause when they sold him to Preston for £25,000 in June 2014.

Fucking transfer windows...

Ogbene deal done, happy with that, as we've loaned out Justin Shaibu, so have young cover again.

Ideally will get a replacement for Vibe if he goes, but I imagine we'll pocket the money for now and use it in the summer when there's better value around.
