Cunningham has been the best LB down here for the last 2 seasons? I'm sure a few clubs would dispute that claim.

He's been excellent, although missed most of last season so can't really make a claim.

Talking traditional full backs here, not attacking wing backs like Douglas & Bryan, when it comes to a good all-round left back, I wouldn't swap Cunningham for anyone at this level. Class.

Hard to say as not many teams play 4 at the back anymore. 3 central defenders and 2 wing backs seems to be increasingly more popular so finding a traditional LB is hard. Seems a decent enough player as you say though.

Aye, bit of a dying breed, certainly the best left back i've seen play for Preston and Warnock has been a fan for a while, I'd be confident in him stepping up a level.

Imagine having Cunningham in your squad & he never got a look in.

Yeah was frustrating

Poor Wigan have fallen for our chairman's sales charm and have signed Leo Da Silva Lopes from us for a 7 figure fee.

The guy is fucking awful. A complete show pony.

An attacking midfielder who got 4 goals and 4 assists in over 100 games in league 1.

Last season's stats:

52 appearances. Zero goals. 1 assist!

Cheers for the cash Latics!

Not bitter in the slightest I see. Good to see the new owners have loosened those purse strings.

Bitter?!!

I'm ecstatic!

What would I be bitter about? The fact we have sold by far our worst player for over a million quid?

Remember seeing that Da Silva Lopes in a cup game on TV and he was impressive, surprised to see Posh Hammer's comments but that was one game.

You lot spend half your time slagging off Marcus Maddison so I’m hardly going to take your fans’ opinion as gospel, especially when it’s regarding a 19 year old kid who is only going to get better and better. I’ll go with Paul Cook’s opinion along with numerous managers who have praised him and Prem teams who have enquired about him. In fact I’ve just read an article in the Guardian where he names Kanté as his idol, yet you call him an attacking midfielder. Well he’s obviously not an attacking midfielder is he based on his goals/assists and he won’t be playing up there for us. Oh and the seven figure fee, you do know it won’t be anywhere near that upfront, so you better hope he does well and triggers the add ons.

Ron Jeremy is my idol, doesn't mean I've got a 13 inch penis.

He's an attacking midfielder. He can't defend or tackle to save his life.

Marcus Maddison is 100 times the player Leo is. If you want my opinion on him, go to the transfer rumours thread on the championship forum a couple of weeks back.

Enjoy next year, can't wait to see your posts when you realise you've been sold a dud.

Well he won’t be playing attacking midfield for us. Regarding MM I’m not accusing you directly but you cannot deny he gets stick from a big proportion of your support. Fair enough, we shall see.

Liking our transfer strategy so far this summer; linked with numerous young and hungry players, starting with John O'Shea apparently set to sign this week...

Linked with Dylan McGeouch from Hibernian on a free, doubt it’s true but we could do worse

We have too MB, I think half the division have TBH.
On another point, strong rumours that City have won the race for Jack Marriott. I guess that would confirm that Bobby Reid is off.

I don't totally disagree with your comments but when you are the best team in League One you definitely choose Bryan over Cunningham.

League 1 is different fish, Cunningham is championship all day.

I still think Bryan rise is due to SL

Only if you're using wing backs as we were.

Always jealous that you guys seem to do well extending contracts of your best players. We've gotten into a cycle that as soon as a player has broken into the team, they essentially are running out their deal till we sell them or it expires. Can't extend anyone as they all want wages beyond our structure.

Think Marriott will be a good player in this league, but is just way beyond our price structure. We were linked a lot last year but weren't going to pay anything near what they were asking.

Whatever money that was freed up by selling Hugill is going towards improving the contracts of our better players. Same happened with the Garner money.

Still got a decent-ish budget (by our standards) after already spending £700k on Ledson but we won't be going big on anyone.

Signed Michael Crowe.

Signed as third choice so we can send Matt Hudson out on loan.

Preston North End have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper Michael Crowe on a two-year deal from the beginning of July.
The 22-year-old was called up to the Welsh squad for the first time in March, alongside the Lilywhites’ Chris Maxwell and will join up with Alex Neil’s side from the start of pre-season after ending his long stay in Suffolk with Ipswich Town.

Crowe will join current goalkeepers Declan Rudd and Maxwell in competing to be part of the matchday squad, with young 'keeper Mathew Hudson hoping to head out on loan.

The London-born stopper grew up in Norway, but qualifies for Ryan Giggs’ side and was called up for the recent China Cup, where fellow PNE man Billy Bodin also received his first international recognition, so the new man will have some familiar faces in the dressing room at Deepdale.

Maybe that keeps you sustainable until the stadium is finished? It makes it ll the more admirable that you compete the way you do TBH.
I guess things will change once the new place is finished? It's made a massive difference for us.

Brilliant news. Gonna stick a bit of money on him for top scorer next season I think.

We probably won’t see as big increases financially as others. We are a small club, and the new stadium will only be 17.5k, hoping we fill it!

But it should make things a little easier. The operating model is to sell every player we buy though, so I can’t imagine we’ll see much of a change of strategy.

Hearing some of the wages our players have left to: Hogan £40kpw at Villa, Jota £40kpw at Birmingham, we were never going to compete anyway
