Personally I'd like to see us use it as an opportunity to tie down our key players who are out of contract at the end of the season, Joao, and Bannan. Lee and Hooper too but would like them to prove their fitness first between now and January.

Sako is class, i’d imagine he’ll want a fair wedge though

If he's that class why has nobody signed him on a free. Plenty of clubs in this league pay silly wages.

Transfer embargo now lifted at Hillsborough, Bakary Sako rumoured to be already lined up. Believe he's a free agent after being released by Palace.
If true he'd bring some much needed pace to squad.

Sako isn't what I'd describe as a pacey player, what Liam said is more accurate. Also blademan89 I think teams are cautious of his injury record at Palace.

We have Bassong on trial. Any good these days? Probably not, but he is free so we'll take him.

He wasn't very good for the last couple of seasons with us and he hasn't played in a year so I wouldn't get my hopes up if I was you.

Rumours of Woods to Stoke for £6.5m, add ons taking it to £7.5m, and a sell on on top. Obviously would rather keep him but will be happy to have the saga end, and glad we stood up to Swansea when they tried to renege on the price.

Hope we manage to bring someone in to replace him. Think we’ve got the numbers but the quality drops off pretty quickly if McEachran or Macleod get injured (and both are pretty injury prone).

Does Ryan Woods only have a year left on his contract? £6.5m seems a very shit deal for him.

Are Stoke the biggest spenders this league has had?

They've spent about £30m so far, Villa pissed about £60m+ up the wall in their first season down here.

Boro spent about £45m last season too.

Two years. Midfielders who don’t score goals and don’t get that many assists don’t tend to go for a huge amount of money.

Agree that it seems like a small fee, but there doesn’t seem to be as much of a market for this type of player, as for other ones that we’ve sold.

In other news, Josh Dasilva has turned down a new deal with Arsenal to join us on a free (plus compensation), 4 years with the club having an option for another year.

Can’t say I know anything about him, but another young English signing with some pedigree, trust the DoFs to get it right. Seems he might be a Woods replacement, though he seems to be able to play just about anywhere.

This mornings rumours to S6 are Cameron Carter-Vickers and Danny Batth.

One or both is what we need me thinks.

I'd have them both, centre back is our second weakest position at the minute after wing backs. The Batth deal according to someone on Owlstalk could be with a view to sign permanently in January, he's still only 27 it seems an eternity since we had him on loan. He'd also add some much needed leadership to the team.

We want Nahki Wells on loan. He would be brilliant for us, exactly what we need so I really hope we get this one over the line.

Then onto a goalkeeper and a whole new defence.

Turned down Brum as well.

I remember seeing a Dasilva for an England youth team and he looked class, a breed of highly skilful/technical sort of player. Don't think it was Jay Dasilva as he is a left back I believe, but if this is the one we've snapped up then I'm happy with that.

Rumours that ex Hammer James Collins may be coming to BS3. I would be happy with that. He's getting on a bit but seems to be a model pro and would be an excellent leader for our youngsters.
I must thank FL's Derby for Andy Weimann as well, the boy is very good up front.

Villa close to signing Anwar El Ghazi, a winger from Lille. Remember him being fairly decent for Ajax the other year.

Yeah was just about to post about this - I remember him being pretty good, or maybe that was just from FM!

Still, joined them for 8m euros last summer, got to be on a decent salary, big statement of intent if they do get him across the line.

It's fine, he could be quality but Bruce will still play him at right back.

What's happened to all their FFP issues? Thought it wasn't just a cash thing, it was also that they would fail the rules without selling a few more?

Lucas Joao has extended his contract by another's 2 years taking it to summer 2021, great news. Hope talks are going on with Barry Bannan too.
