I'm ruling out us offering enough for Fraizer Campbell or David Marshall, although i'd take either here.

I'd rather sign Marshall than Bentley in fairness. I did/do rate Bentley but Marshall was the best in the league at Cardiff.

Bobbin' I think you might be signing Lockyer today.

MagpieBee happy with the Bentley news?
Not seen anything this morning - assuming this is the rumoured £4m bid?

It’s a big shame he took such a large step back last year. He must have been at fault or part fault for 8-10 goals, which was absolutely killing us early on this year. But he was great in the years before.

Considering the last year, and he’s only got 12 months left on his deal, £4m is good value and I trust the management to invest that in the right way.

If he can fix the confidence issues he developed last year (new surroundings should help that) then you’ll have a cracking keeper on the cheap. Not the best in the league but he’s still young and has potential to be a good PL keeper.

I doubt it's 4m is it?

We're supposedly in advanced talks with him. I don't think our fans are too happy and I'm usually critical of our signings but I personally think it'll turn out to be a smart signing. He's 25 and had 3 quality seasons already, he won't cost a daft amount and he's a potential long term number one. If he comes in and the change of scenery doesn't bring back the best in him then we have Maenpaa to fall back on who was outstanding last term.

Lots of rumours that Chuks Aneke about to leave us and join Charlton.

If so, will be very sorely missed (19 goals for us last season in L2), but deserves to be playing in the Championship and a club like Charlton will suit him very well (his family are in Newham).

If it happens, good luck to him. Very good signing for whoever gets him. Has had injury problems, but he is a fantastic all-rounder and a genuine game changer.

Is he still slow as fuck? slowest teenager i've ever seen when we had him on loan.

Gave him the benefit of the doubt and just presumed he was carrying an injury or something.

Looks like we'll unveil Matt Smith from Man City and Luke Amos from Spurs on season long loans. I don't know much about them. I know Amos has been in a few first team squads.

We haven't had young loanees for a while; I think the last one was Andros Townsend.

Yeah, that’s the chat here aswell, have to wait and see I suppose. Would be very happy with it, another smart bit of business from Bowyer given the extreme restrictions he’s working under.

Hearing the same noises, come out of nowhere as not seen him linked anywhere until this morning. I don’t know a whole lot about him other than his good season last season. We are in desperate need for strikers so would be happy with this as allows space for a loan in another position.

He's definitely quicker now I would say. With his build and height he's never going to be rapid, but on several occasions last year he out-sprinted defenders when knocking the ball past them. TBH he is strong in every area of his game, only weakness is his injury record but he still managed 41 appearances last season..

Stats wise, apparently last season he created the 5th most amount of chances in the top 4 tiers joint with Bradley Dack (only behind Mo Salah, Joe Lolley, Pablo Hernandez and Sean McConville) - so not only a goalscorer, but frequently involved in anything going forward for us last season.

If he stays fit, he'll do well for you I'm sure. He played as part of a front three for us, but can also play as a number 10 behind a CF or anywhere in the middle.

Yes, think I spoke about him a few pages ago.

That would piss me off I won’t lie. It’ll probably cost you your transfer record though if you want him permanently.

Very good keeper IMO.

Imagine it would just be a loan, just hearsay anyway.

Maybe Muric is still an option now O'Neill has gone but assume City were aware of the situation.

Looks like Kazenga LuaLua has “no showed” at pre season training.

Can’t say I’m overly shocked.

Reasonably reliably informed that it is, though that might include add ons.

Yeah, for a keeper he’s still really young, especially with 7+ seasons as a starter including Southend.

We've signed Martin Crainie after he was released by Sheffield United. Plenty of experience at this level but can't say I know anything about him, any reviews?

Confirmed that Julian Borner, Moses Odubajo and Kadeem Harris all reported for pre season fitness testing today, means all 3 are signed just waiting on the EFL to life our soft embargo. Think all 3 will improve us, Odubajo is a massive upgrade and will give us something going forward, Harris is quick, seem to think he's a bit of a Rolando Aarons type player which we desperately need. Not seen anything of Borner but he's not been a journeyman in Germany, made a lot of appearances for 2 clubs and captained them, all at good ages too so happy.

Think it might be Bidwell we're in talks with.

Not buzzing, I like Hughes, think Bidwell is pretty average at this level but Earl needs a loan out.

It says the player has been offered terms at his current club though, Bidwell was released.

It would appear Villa came back in for Webster with a bid totalling £20M and we turned it down. :ohm: Bristol City turning down £20M for a player? Never thought I would see that!
I think Villa will get him eventually, sadly, but that's some bid to decline.
BTW, welcome to BS3, Daniel Bentley.
