I see Watkins has got an 18 million release clause, guess he will have plenty of takers at that price.

All seems fairly quiet in the championship at the moment, doesn’t seem to be too many signings around compared to leagues 1 and 2, thought we might have a flurry of activity going on by now as teams try and get players in before pre season training but still quiet for the most part. I guess a lot of players and managers at this level might be on holiday given the tight turn around in seasons, perhaps next week things will kick off in earnest.

For our part I think we are all just desperately waiting for news on if Glen Rea has signed his deal!

I think you're right - players will be on holiday after their toil of having 3 months off in the spring....

Luton return to pre season training on Monday. Think things will start to heat up when teams start assessing who isn't going to feature in their immediate plans of those already under contract.

Several ITKs on our forum say the £18m release clause isn’t true - though the BBC don’t tend to post stories like that without good information.

If someone did want him, don’t think we’d need too much more, £22m would probably do it.

Tbf they were stuck inside with the rest of us! Not much of a break like. Rea is back from his break now so I kind of expected an announcement of some sort already by now.

We have signed Jordan Clarke on a free after he left Accrington. Remember him playing against us previously and looking lively. He is a winger which is interesting as NJs preferred formation doesn’t have any. May signal a move away from it or perhaps Clarke is a bench option in a similar fashion to McManaman last year, just at a cheaper price you would suspect. Looks to have some good stats in terms of chances created in league 1 last year so may be a shrewd bit of business on a free.

As we saw it’s a large step up from League 1 so we will see how we go. Not unhappy with it but would like to see us bring in a few who are in that under 25 category who have some potential resale value but I like it as a start to our summer business.

Only three players created more chances in the top 4 divisions than Jordan Clark last season up to lockdown - the others Kevin de Bruyne, Matheus Pereira and Randell Williams.

Appears to be a shrewd signing

Appears to be confirmed now that there is no release clause in Watkins’ contract.

Interesting if true, the media have taken the £18m clause story and run with it for everything they’re worth. As you say I don’t think it would take a great deal more than £18m anyway to be fair. Suspect Benrahma will be off too, there will be a higher price tag on his shoulders that clubs may not want to pay, but I think it’s clear he wants his shot at Premier League football so it’ll be hard to stand in his way.

Sign Toney and get another cheap promising attacker from the continent plus a little extra depth and you’ll walk the league next year.

While rumours about our youngsters departing continue to gather pace, we've sent young Simon Power out on loan to National League King's Lynn Town and are also looking to send Charlie Gilmour and Melvin Sitti out on loan somewhere for the coming season.

One promising development on the departures front is that Farke has said that we will not be letting both Buendia and Cantwell go this window, though obviously if clubs want both of them enough and offer enough money that could be taken out of our hands.

Whats Tunnicliffe's status?

Under contract for next season, if memory serves he signed a 2 year deal. Nothing from the club so far about anyone being transfer listed so assume he will be around the squad.

Whether NJ fancies him is another matter, seemed to fall out of favour in the last few games of the season With Berry really taking that position for his own I can see him being less utilised next season.

So only Glen Rea and Kazenga LuaLua left to sign from the current squad - Kaz is going to be the last one isn't he, the way his agent fucks about.

I'm sure something will come out in the next few days whatever happens, considering pre-season starts Monday. Kaz's agent pissing about last summer lost him his fitness and place in the side.

Im not so sure if it’s LuaLuas agent or if LuaLua himself isn’t a big fan of preseason training! When he first signed the season had already started if I recall.

Whoever it is, they need to realise that it’s fucking up his career. He has probably lost 20 games he could’ve played over the last two years if he actually had a pre season behind him and gained some form.

Cameron McGeehan has left Barnsley and joined Oostende in Belgium - a club also owned by Barnsley's owner. Despite Barnsley's comments in recent months, is that not a conflict of interest?

Second one this summer already I think, Sibbick went there earlier in the week. Not against the rules I guess but this multi club ownership stuff doesn’t sit right with me (and that’s not just because Watford do it!). Open to all sorts of abuses.

On the Jamal Lewis to Liverpool transfer - "Norwich understood to be unhappy with Liverpool's conduct".

Sense of irony there considering how Gregg Broughton sourced both Lewis and Aarons...

All I can say about it is that we rightly think the £10 million they're offering for a young homegrown player is insulting, even more so when they're the Premier League champions and clearly have a lot more money they could spend. It's important for us to drive a hard bargain here - and coming out to say we're unhappy with their approach is all part of that - so that our other young talents aren't also poached for relative peanuts.

In any case, it's all part of the usual transfer circus as I'm sure that, beyond considering the offer insulting, we aren't really that bothered about Liverpool's conduct so far as I'm sure we do similar all the time (so it's not as if we can claim any sort of moral high ground here).

I read somewhere, possibly twitter so May very well be BS, that Lewis left of his accord to do athletics for a year before joining Norwich and hence we don’t have a stake in the transfer.

Only if it's in the same country.

Man City have loads of connections it seems

Meanwhile it sounds like Derby's case is going the same direction as Sheffield Wednesday, a Times journalist has reported.

Nope, it seems to be annual charade now. I’m getting bored of it. If his agent is trying to play games again, get rid - bored of this nonsense of a player who isn’t as good as he thinks he is.

Yes, scored a great goal at Hull (which was his only goal last season wasn’t it?), terrorises defences and gets fouls constantly, but I think we could improve on him somewhat with the wages freed up.

Taken from our forum, apparently medicals to be carried out on the players on Monday :-

Kieran Sadlier (Attacking Left Midfielder) released by Doncaster & Dominic Samuel (Striker) released by Blackburn. Both became Rotherham United players last night. To be announced on Monday.

Rumours suggesting that us and Coventry are looking at German striker Marvin Ducksch. He's one we were linked with two seasons ago, but he chose to stay in Germany and we got Pukki instead, However, the fact that we've tried before and that he's worked with Farke at Dortmund before suggests there could be some legs in this.

Presumably it would also mean that Drmic would be departing, which would be excellent news.
