Think we're going to sign Liam Lindsay permanently.

He's great in a back three when he's asked to to win headers and clear his lines but in a back four he's just too slow and dodgy on the ball. Would end any interest in Sonny Bradley if it was a genuine interest, that is.

Need to bring in another guy with pace and ability on the ball, even if we bring back Van Den Berg.

Looks like James Collins is going to join Cardiff City. Doesn't surprise me, as he would fit into their style of play alongside Kieffer Moore.

A lot of strikers down there in south Wales. Does this mean they are dumping Watters already after just 3 games and spunking another million?

Now the talk is that Huddersfield and Preston are in for Matty Pearson. A model professional and gives 110% every week but they can have him for me.

Part of me thinks this is agent talk as these clubs seem to be in for everyone at the moment.

Yeah, I agree, two obvious seeming suitors just thrown into the mix.

The only thing that would make me think we could be interested is that he can play right back.

I would only use him in that position as a last resort, but having said that did fairly well when asked. Definitely not a roving quick winger - anything but.

Yeah that seems like agent chatter to me can’t see either side being actually interested.

An absolute warrior, who always gives his best, but he’s not a regular championship quality player, he’s a squad depth option to bring on to head the ball away when 1-0 up in the closing stages and at a push a right back when playing away and you want a winger put into the stand.

Huddersfield have corberan trying to get them playing out from the back as a kind of mini Leeds and that ain’t him.

As mentioned on the Luton thread it’s now been confirmed that Collins will be joining Cardiff.

Good move for him I think, but likely to be rotational type and player for Kieffer Moore maybe.

Fantastic servant to us, another who always gave his best for us and wish him well, but it’s Adebayos role now.

Good luck to him - he has served us well. He is the wrong side of 30 and I think he has definitely regressed as a player this season. For getting £9-10k a week at Cardiff, he can't go wrong really.

Matty Pearson has joined Huddersfield - that is a surprising one.

Looks like Luton are going to be even busier than us.

Two ways of looking at it.

Lots of proven, steady players leaving which is a gamble and could result in a dodgy transition season.

Or a chance to replace them with young prospects who have re-sale value unlike the guys departing.

And like Preston, the danger of not being able to compete on wages when contracts are run down to the end. The difference to Bradley being is that the club haven’t said if he rejected a new contract. Maybe he wasn’t offered one... I was certainly in two minds.

What is surprising me is that a lot of teams in lge one are having a complete clear out and dumping players of year and players who had a good season last year.........Where are they going to get better??
A lot of players released from the Championship...........Are they much better and will come at a price.
The was no good team last season in lge 2 but some good individual players and again these will come at a premium.

Preston could compete with anyone in the championship if the owner wished too

He's not going to change any time soon, I doubt his son will either. Owning a football club is a money pit so not sure why he doesn't try and gamble a bit (a sensible gamble) to get a slice of the Prem money.

That said, we spent about £3m on players and bought a training ground in the last year, doubt many clubs could say that.

Yep, definite end of an era type feel with this summer I feel. You can’t keep a side together forever and it’s our time now. As you say could go either way but it’s a massive summer for us.

Must admit to being a a bit nervous about it, I think we will target all the “right “ players but could see us missing out when it comes down to competing with wages etc. Going to have to rely on selling regular playing time I think.

I think we were probably at the point of gone as far as we could with the group - which is a comliment to all as that was a long, long, way. The core was L2 with eyes for L1 and we did Championship well, on teamwork and togetherness as much as raw talent. All, as we all know and like to tell people, on a low comparative budget.

Time to regroup. Prob will see us potentially struggle a little more next season as we gel and some work and some dont. But i think plenty of others will be in the same boat and have faith in the club to do it better than many.

Its quite exciting as we've been settled for a while, juat adding here and there. Time to see what Jones really has on that front. I like that from the outside we look like we knew the extent of what was coming, beefing up the scouting and analytics.

I see outlaws is in meltdown at no release list, players going and none coming in. But im sure we are letting those go we knrw about and lining up ducks that are also waiting for contracts to expire. Thats gonna be many weeks more.

Quite - the season hasn’t even finished yet.

People get very impatient these days.

There was a meet the fans type event last night for diamond season ticket holders.

Was mentioned retained list would be a few more days whilst some players think over contract offers, I would expect that means Bradley hasn’t decided yet.

Jones was very bullish (as you might expect) saying that we would definitely be stronger by the end of the window and would be target younger, athletic players. Seems like at least some signings might be pretty close already.

Thankfully we are in for two centre backs, as well as bringing Van Den Berg back on loan.

If we sign Lindsay it will be on a free/ nominal, definitely won't be paying £500k. Imagine Stoke will continue paying him part of his wage as he'll get nowhere near his current contract here.

The other centre back is likely to be a young up & comer from L1/2, no names.

We weren't in for Pearson at Luton, supposedly all of O'Rourke's/ Football Insider's recent links to us are complete bollocks.

So it looks like Sonny Bradley is staying at Luton after rejecting an initial offer and then getting an offer from Ipswich. Can’t say my view of him hasn’t been tainted slightly, that his ambition means he was willing to drop back into L1. But out of the two centre halves, I’d absolutely keep him over Pearson.

Its his last shot at a decent 2 yr contract so i dont blame him a bit for trying to eek out a bit more. Sure we as a Club are doing the same with players to pay a bit less. Part and parcel.

Loyalty is a dead word in football outside fans and a few old school backroom staff.

Yeah not sure it’s un-ambitious to get the best deal you can at 29/30, if he were younger then maybe that could be levelled at him but it’s his last shot at a good contract really. Also Ipswich will probably fancy a promotion push next season with Cook and the shake up they are having so not like he would have been pitching up at Salford or something. Don’t begrudge him looking for the best deal possible.

Certainly happy to see him stay, of Collins, Pearson and him if we could have kept one it would have been him probably as we’ve Adebayo already to replace Collins and Lockyers the first choice right sided centre half. What he offers as a left side player is a bit rarer and I think he’s improved a fair bit since coming here.

Wouldn’t have said transferring to Ipswich showed a lack of ambition...regardless of what league they’re in.
The Championship is a world apart from League One. I just wouldn’t get why someone would want to drop out of that for 50p per hour more. I’d be slightly concerned if I was an Ipswich fan if they are trying to compete or outspend on wages with £5.5m less TV money.

Didnt realise Jordan Rhodes had gone back to Huddersfield.

Probably a sentimental one maybe given his record there first go around but there early business is a bit odd to me. Corberan wants them playing like a discount Man City or Leeds and the 2 players they've signed dont exactly scream that to me.

Decent early business by QPR I think, Field is a good player and De Wijs played well for them back end of last season.

We are being linked with Jack Whatmough from Portsmouth by the local Pompey press. Centre half, 24 years old so fits the kind of profile I think we will be looking at. Out of contract as well apparently.

From what I’ve heard he his decent but his injury record looks poor. 3 serious knee injuries and lots of time in and out by the looks of it.

Regan Slater is the latest link to us, 21yr old midfielder, just had a good loan spell at Hull on loan from Sheff Utd.
