Martin Cranie and former Palace man Pape Soare both played 45 minutes in our 2-1 defeat against Wolves today. Sounds like they both did well. Robins has also said he's got two more loanees on the cards, talk is one of them is Jake Clarke-Salter.

Cranie was pretty solid for us last year when called upon. Nothing spectacular or anything but a steady experienced head to have around. Unsure if he’s got the legs to play anything more than a bit part at this level anymore but one of those whose good to have around if you get what I mean.

Liam Delap is going to Stoke it seems, his dad is a coach there I think.

We'll probably end up with Lee Gregory on loan who can't make their bench.

Yeah, if he signs it'll almost certainly be as cover. The squad is still severly lacking in Championship experience so I'm sure he'd be good to have on board on that basis alone.

Doesn't sound like we'll be spending any money, just loans I think if any become available.

Only fee we've paid was the nominal one for Lindsay which was about £50k or something.

Spent £3m last season but maybe having no fans has caught up with us now and Hemmings wants to keep things tight.

Bringing back the reserve team and setting up a fanzone is a good move forward but a bit of forward thinking on the playing side would have been welcome too. I can see us being busy again in January.

I see Peterborough have been active again this week, signing Poku from Colchester and Randall from Exeter. Feels like you can predict their transfer dealings every window, always going in for that sort of player.

Think they could do well in terms of staying away from trouble, but all depends on if there defence improves, conceded a lot of goals for a promoted side which often doesn’t translate well.

Nah, they're going down, Ferguson is fucking useless at this level.

Daniel Iversen has returned on loan from Leicester, one of the best signings of the Championship window.

Would be very surprised if he doesn't play Premier League football at some point, definitely similar level to Pickford & Johnstone when they were here.

Just been reminded of this save:

Signed Jamie Thomas. 1yr deal with an option to a second.

24yr old attacking mid/ striker. Suppose he replaces Izzy Brown.

Was part of the Burnley Development squad but dropped out of football with depression, ended up playing non-league for Squires Gate & Bamber Bridge.

Can't see him featuring right away so good job we've got a reserve team now.

Can't say i'm buzzing with this one but McAvoy & Gallagher have been raving about him during his trial.

Apparently us and Peterborough looking at Edun from Lincoln. Left back and also a defensive midfield player. Wouldn’t surprise me if we were more interested in him playing the latter because left back we have Potts, Naismith, Bell. Although Potts is injured so maybe that’s an issue.

Some more news from us. Gabe Osho signs a new deal (as usual of undisclosed length which will go down well with djs who posts sometimes!). Was some rumours he might go out on loan again but from his interview it very much feels like he is a part of the plans for the first team.

Dion Pereira expected to go out on loan which isnt unexpected given the options we now have in wide areas.

As expected a few out of the door - Lee and Hylton are probably the ones to be heading out and sounds like there has been interest in both.

Having said we are done a week or so ago NJ has said we are looking to strengthen in midfield and add one more there. Which may rule us out of this Lincoln left back although he can also play there. Its not going to be Leshabela who has gone back to Leicester, albeit with good reviews.

You are right there sir. Having wasted time researching this it really does look as if we are just about the only club keeping this stuff secret as far as I can see. Why?
I could also point out that we haven't published the attendances for the last two friendlies either, also other points, insignificant on their own, but all contradicting the mantra about being open with the fans, who they keep lauding for our support.

Rant over - for now.

Didnt go to the Brighton game but they definitely read out an attendance at the Portsmouth game over the PA. Cant remember it though unfortunately although it was 4000 something.

I went to the Brighton game and I definitely didn't hear it. I don't see the need for this additional secrecy and what we gain out of it? The accounts are logged every year... people know how much money we have / don't have. Agents know what players earn and the length of their deals.

Was referring to the Portsmouth game as as mentioned wasnt at Brighton. So maybe they didnt state anything at that one.

Its weird as like you say most of the football community probably will be able to find out relatively easily although it is now harder than a google search would have been.

I guess its objectively a bit odd to have details of an employment contract in the public domain, and I assume the view is if we dont strictly need to publish it why would we, and why make that information easier for people to obtain if it does us no benefit. Only reason I can think of for it, but yeah its a little strange and certainly doesnt seem to the norm. Whether its something to get too concerned about I am not sure.

Edun came into us from Fulham as a CM and Appleton started sticking him at LB last season and looked a bit unsure but his improvement in that position was very noticeable over the course of the season to the point that he's now competent in two positions (and two unusual positions to be competent in as well).

It'll be disappointing if he leaves, I think another season under Appleton will see him improve further but he's only got a year left on his deal. I'd be amazed if there haven't been talks over a new one but we are stacked with CM's and LB's here. If there's an opportunity to raise funds to go for a little more quality in a couple of areas of the squad then we'll probably do it but we don't need to sell.

Subsequent to us being linked Jones has come out and said we are looking to recruit a new midfield player, so I guess it depends if we see him as that as to whether it’s a legitimate link or just talk.

Joe Morrell set to sign for Portsmouth. A bit disappointed in that one, but explains why he wasn't around yesterday. Would be curious to the fee - for me it needs to be £500k minimum.

Yeah it’s just not been a good move for him at all, I thought he might get a bit of a go this season but I am really not sure he would fit in our midfield at the moment as he doesn’t have the athleticism that we are looking for. Also think the relationship with NJ may not be great. Just not worked out for anyone. Hopefully we can use some funds to bring in another central midfield player.

Could do with a few others going out like Lee, Hylton.

Think they’ve just announced there 14th signing of the window this evening so am sure a 15th wont do them much harm! Seems they’ve money to burn at the moment is if they want to chuck some our way they are more than welcome.

Back on my hobby horse again.

Portsmouth quite happy to announce that Morrell has signed for three years with an option for one further year.

Just us keeping secrets.

Lots of Prem teams keeping tabs on our 2nd year scholar, Lewis Leigh.

Looked very good for a 17yr old during pre-season, put some of the senior players to shame.

Hope we can get him on a pro deal but feel like we'll get shafted.
Signed a 3yr pro deal, very good news.

Seen a Pompey reporter linking us to Ronan Curtis, another defeat on Saturday and I would expect some panic signings to be fair. I know nothing about this guy other than he's a sort of wide forward and has played for Ireland.

Good player from what I’ve seen. Thought someone might have taken a chance on him sooner than this really. He reminded me of our Harry Cornick but with a bit more of an “edge” to his game.

Connor Wickham training with us.

Standard cheap and hopeful punt for us on someone who is guaranteed to miss large chunks of the season. Pointless.

On the basis of today we are looking a bit light in central midfield. Really need to get some of fringe players out of the door though, apparently offers were imminent for some a few weeks ago but nothings really materialised.

Dion Pereira has signed a new deal though - he was supposed to be going out on loan
