Rak-Sakyi is going to Sheffield Utd because they’re paying the entirety of his wages (£250K basic?) plus a £1M loan fee and have put in a recall clause in January. So they are just outspending their competitors.
Now Leeds are in for him on a permanent basis - £15M bid incoming. Ridiculous amount of money.

Regardless of club size, we aren’t paying that sort of money. Even last year our biggest fee was 4m.

Can see what Edwards means about it being a challenging window, seems like some crazy fees going around

Both clubs dwarf yours though hence the pull
Players are not considering “club size” - it’s about how much money they’re putting in their pockets, the slice the agent gets and maybe if they’re competing at the right end of the table.

Stoke allegedly in for Jay Stansfield now. If he goes, hope it’s for big bucks please.

Ridsdale has confirmed on SSN that we're signing Jeppe Okkels from FC Utrecht.

25yr old, Danish left winger who was at Silkeborg with Thordarson.

We’ve signed 20 year old Tottenham striker Dane Scarlett on a season-long loan.

Liam Walsh ex Swansea was in the stands last night. If he’s the answer, god knows what the question is.

Jeppe Okkels signs. 3yr deal. Undisclosed.

Foreign press mentioned €2m (£1.7m) but I reckon that will include add-ons.

At the risk of going off before it’s happened, it’s certainly not the signing I was expecting us to make but if he’s at the game you’d assume he will, can’t find an obvious link as to why he would be there otherwise.

I know we’ve struggled but simply there HAVE been decent midfield players of the type we’d be looking for available this summer. Off the top of my head Leonard who went too Birmingham City ultimately, Robertson whose gone too Cardiff for a reasonable fee are 2 I thought we might be in for but never were linked. Of those not moved yet, maybe someone like Kyprianou from Peterborough if we wanted to spend a decent chunk of change, or be a bit ambitious with a PL loan. Not sure if Taylor is available from Ipswich, he was a bit in and out for most of the season and I’d expect they want better there for the PL season kick off, someone of that calibre, that’s the kind of calibre of signing we need and probably have the funds to do for once.

Instead it looks like 2 players (Baptiste and Walsh) with seriously questionable injury records and in the latter case not really proved anything.

Charlie Hughes set to sign for Hull from Wigan for a fee of £4M. Clearly got a lot of potential, but in terms of us being interested in him, I think we probably need to go for someone with more experience at this level anyway.

Luton and both Sheffield clubs are also interested in 18 year old Brighton CM Malick Yalcouyé.

Looks like Andros Townsend is on the verge of joining Antalyaspor in Turkey. He is not going to play as much as he probably wants to for us this year - to potentially get some sort of fee for him with 24 months to go on his contract is probably a good result. Don't think we can really let anyone else go until we have confidence in the squad numbers available.

I agree about Townsend but unless we are bringing someone in it’s another element of depth taken with no replacement for it.

Edwards confirmed Townsend is on his way, seems it will be to Turkey.

Walsh is on trial at the moment and hasn’t made a decision on him yet, I’m guessing he’s the back up if all else fails option.

Not too concerned about Townsend going but confused at timing when we are so threadbare. We simply have to start bringing people in. So far from last seasons squad we have lost Kabore, Barkley, Lokonga, Onyedinma, Berry, Potts, Osho, Giles have a long term injury list of Andersen, Lockyer, Burke, Nakamba, Brown, Hashioka, and only signed 2 players on frees. The window is becoming more unfathomable by the day.

We've finally confirmed our first choice keeper after waiting a while - Jacob Widell Zetterstrom. He goes into the history books as the most expensive keeper we have ever signed. It sounds big, but it really isn't. It's a touch higher than what Birmingham spent on their back-up goalkeeper this summer.

He's a good prospect, glad to see we have gone further afield for the goalkeeper too.

Were apparently signing Nicolas Schmid from Austrian Budeslega side Blau Weiss Linz? Not sure where that leaves Norris or Archer as sounds like we're spending €400-500 on him and he's 27. Never heard of him

Better late than never, 3 signed today and in total it's been a busy last couple of weeks (latest 3 at top):
Óscar Zambrano - LDU Quito (Ecuador top flight champions) - season loan with option
Mason Burstow - Chelsea
Charlie Hughes - Wigan
Liam Millar - FC Basel
Finley Burns - Manchester City - season loan without option
Anthony Racioppi - Young Boys
Marvin Mehlem - SV Darmstadt

We were for Zambrano in January but there were all sorts of shenanigans going on so it all fell through. Last I saw there were rumours of a failed drug test so that might be one to watch

Jealous of the Hughes signing though, that’s the sort of signing I’d like to be seeing from us although arguments to be made we need some experience in our defence.

Zambrano failed a test after taking allergy medication. The club believes he will get off, but the deal is structured so we can walk away at no loss if he's banned. It seems like we still have at least 4 to come in, main striker, RW and 2 CM. Possibly more if there are more going out. It's going to end up being an almost entirely new team from last season.

Looks like Brentford, Palace and potentially others are back in for Alfie Doughty. I think we'd have to sell if someone offered £15M this week, as has been quoted this morning.

There are now less than two weeks to go. Looks like Mark McGuinness will probably happen - Cardiff left him out of their squad yesterday because of transfer speculation.

There are still quite a few players that I'd class as "available". I'm surprised no one has come in from Marcondes. David Brooks is another one I'm surprised hasn't gone out on loan yet. Goutas is probably the Cardiff defender I'd have preferred. Harry Toffolo is some I've said before as a short term replacement for the aforementioned Doughty. Issa Kabore would provide decent attacking quality for any top-end Championship side, equally Djed Spence in the same position. Bashir Humphreys is someone else I think may end up leaving Chelsea on loan.

Will someone give a home to Deli Alli?

Must admit to being surprised that McGuiness is the defender we have seemingly decided upon, he seems a steady sort of player, if it were a couple of million id be happy but it does feel quite a pricey deal for the numbers being reported it might end up being a record fee for us. Personally i think if we had been on the ball this summer we could have better value in & earlier but i guess I should not complain if he is the one we do end up signing having spent all summer moaning about lack of activity in that area.

Think we are likely to be tested for our current players as the Premier League season kicks off and their 25 man squads start getting whittled down & transfers happen. I think the main ones i could see us being tested on are Mengi and Doughty both of whom we we would need top calibre replacements for. Usually id be relatively comfortable with that as we always had other players shortlisted and ready to go but this summer has been far from ops normal from us.

Linked with a German midfielder called Tom Krauss currently at Mainz. Seems to have decent pedigree as he’s come through the RB Leipzig system but fallen out of favour at Mainz due to a new manager changing the style of play. That sounds much more like a Luton signing to me, signing at low values rather than top whack

For what it’s worth he also seems to be already following half our team on instagram too
