I actually know this guy believe it or not, I played football with him 2 years ago. I work with a Portuguese guy who is his step brother. He came over for a couple of weeks to try and find a club in England back then but it didn't work out for him.

His career has really excelled since then, and was the 3rd highest scorer in the Portuguese League, a couple behind Jackson Martinez. A lot of people are disappointed that he hasn't had more international caps, and are blaming it on the fact its only because he plays for Nacional and not one of the big 3 in Benfica, Sporting Lisbon or FC Porto. Nice down to earth guy too, would be a great signing if you can pull it off.

Well that sounds really promising definitely hoping we can sign him now! Apparently Bursaspor are also interested so that could lower our chances a bit.

Thrilled to see Elokobi return to Colchester, tbh. Feel that few players ever give as much as Big George. I remember him coming on after being away injured for a while and the entire stadium rose as one to cheer him back onto the pitch. Electric.

Tell you what, you'd never hear Elokobi be disrespectful to former clubs, managers, teammates, fans.

And he's not named after a fucking snack, either.

Remember he was on loan here a few years back, and in his first game he snapped his leg in front of the Atyeo, absolutely horrible.

And despite having been at the club all of about 5 mins and while in what must have been excruciating pain, he sat up and applauded all four sides of the ground as he was stretchered off.

Incredible respect for the man ever since

He's always received a great reception whenever he has came back since. I remember when we played Wolves the season before last and as he walked down the Atyeo tunnel after his warm-up he applauded the fans and got superb reception.

Have had a soft spot for him ever since.

I think Big George is the most likeable player in football. Says it all that every one of his previous clubs still hold him in such high esteem. I mean all he does on twitter is greet anyone who tweets him with messages like 'god bless'. It's refreshing to see such behaviour from a footballer.

Ross Turnbull apparently. Seems he's shit but just like Stuart Taylor and Jamie Ashdown before him, an experienced benchwarmer to fill a spot.

If you say so...

Haven't you just signed a load of players released by bottom half Championship clubs?

Did you see who we signed last summer?

Middlesborough, Forest and Wednesday did pretty well last season. The other two were from Leeds and Man United.

Reading do need to make better signings than us tbf, needed us to have a three point deduction for you to have just enough more points.

You signed Greg Halford... We couldn't possibly do any worse.

You employ Pavel Pogbrenyak and Nick Blackman.
Would almost give it to you..

But Halford would also join the list of our very worst transfers.

I think it shows with Halford that he seems to get passed on by clubs relatively quickly. Forest is the only club that used him at this level for a decent amount of time, and even they wanted rid last year.

You cant really big up your signings based on who they played for considering the said clubs released those players deeming them not good enough. It's all well and good saying you got a defender from Man United, yet his only appearance for Man Utd was a substitute app in the 90th minute when they were already 3-0 up (for example)

For what it's worth I think you have signed better players from last season, but I'm not convinced you have enough yet to survive.

My initial point was that it's far better than last season, we signed Febian Brandy, Mat Sadler and Ryan Hall for fucks sake haha

I was just pointing out that to say that all our signings are from bottom half championship clubs, isn't exactly true.

Our next signings are key as to whether we'll stay up, defence is sorted, it's a goalkeeper and attacking options which'll send us down.

I think you have a decent basis of a squad, Players like Derbyshire, Mattock, Buxton, Halford etc have been there, done it and worn the T-shirt when it comes to playing Championship football. I think if you can build a squad of similar player you'll be fine, it just when you sign 20+ players that things tend to go tits up.

Not massively excited by Vossen. Then again, who am I to argue with SD? He hasn't led us too far wrong so far [ignoring the almost inevitable relegation last season].

Why did you sign Lukas Jutkiewicz?

Vossen went an absolute age without scoring, but seemed to get a bit of confidence back towards the end of the season. £2.5m seems a bit steep though.

I've said before that I think Rotherham will stay up this season. Not so much because of the signings (which are good and I feel Halford will do well for you) but because overall, clubs get better settled in the second season. Can see you finishing mid-table.

To be fair to Rotherham I can say that Lewis Buxton if he keeps fit, is an awesome signing. Joe Mattock is also a sturdy left back and I was surprised we didn't offer him a deal as a squad player, definitely an improvement on what they had last season.

Rumours not going away about our interest in Robert Beric of Rapid Vienna. Some saying that we've had a bid of 5 million euros (about £3.5m) accepted. He scored 27 goals in the Austrian Bundesliga last season. Would smash our previous record transfer fee by £1m and be only the second time we've spent more than £1m on a player when we've been in this division.

Comes the same day our majority owner has said that we can expect a few more transfers yet this Summer, and the club is aiming for play-offs this year. I think most fans would be happy with mid table..

Big striker I mentioned earlier was in fact Halford, that's how Evans introduced to media lads haha why I don't know, hope he was joking as said he could play anywhere in an interview today.

Keeper signing tommorow.

I posted the Vossen deal sealed a couple of hours ago on Page 78.

£2.5 million fee and three-year deal .

Burnley are also set to get young Everton striker Chris Long and Liverpool's Jerome Sinclair on loan.

Was Long any good for Brentford last season?
He looked ok in the couple of games he played for us, seem to remember a couple of cracking finishes in one home game. But he kept getting injured, and kept being recalled by Everton for Under 21 games, which was ridiculous.

Wouldn't say he's any better than what you already have up front.

Player is "unsettled" in contract negotiations shock horror! Hold the front page lads, this hasn't happened before.

Odd because if McDonald leaves, I'd have expected him to go to a promotion rival. Like Brentford, not Fulham.

We have never ever had a player come out so publicly and be so damming about our club. Is this a regular thing for Wolves? I was shocked when I read this to be honest.
