Wolves and Bristol City battling it out to sign Dean Moxey...

I'm sure that's going to be an intense battle. What a superb signing that is, huge upgrade on Cunningham who let go for free mind...

Excellent business. Well in City.

He'll be shite but at least we won't have to watch Paul Konchesky.

That'll be Burnley taking another striker from right under our noses then - standard.
Gray was never under your noses. Wouldn't have left us for you.

As everyone should be about every signing, I'm not getting excited or demotivated about Blackman's signing.

I don't get how it can be a bad or good signing before he's even played a game. Similar to the Camara signing.

The bright side is that if he isn't good enough, which many have predicted, he just won't get a game.

As it goes we apparently had a 4.5m deal agreed in principle for Andre in May. This was also seeing him get a nice increase in wages which he was willing to accept, given at this point there was no other concrete interest and we as a club were in a very good place.

Unfortunately our chief executive (who was sacked, probably because of this) went under Cotterill's nose and decided he was going to try and get a cheaper deal as he believed you would accept 3m. After playing cat and mouse for a couple of months, in come Burnley. Panic sets in and we bid a massively inflated amount to match Burnleys offer.

But now Andre was never going to join us following the previous breakdown between the clubs, a disastrous summer leading to a weak squad, Burnley in a far better position to be promoted, and because Burnley were willing to pay him over 10k more than us.

This is still rumour but comes from a fan who is well respected for having inside knowledge with goings on at the club. He also explains in detail the reasons for the Harry Maguire and Gayle deals falling through. It perfectly explains our disastrous summer, the sacking of said chief executive John Pelling and Cotterill on the verge of walking in pre season. I'm inclined to believe it.

100% this is incorrect. £4.5m offer was never accepted

What Aaron said...

Money talks.
We were willing to pay him what he wanted if he stayed. Not the reason he left

Not a chance Gray was going anywhere for 4.5 million.

Agreed in May, at the start of the summer before the ridiculous spending sprees....

I'm inclined to believe it - like Aaron said, this bloke has a track record of being correct about many transfers and various other things that aren't common knowledge. Think about it from a business POV, if you'd have accepted that and it would have gone through you'd have made a £4m profit on that player in just one season, give or take.

Right now of course it seems silly given his progression this season. But rewind 8 months and that's a hell of a lot of money for a striker with one football league season under his belt. 16 in 45 in that league season is hardly awe inspiring either is it.

Do you know this for definite? I do recall you saying you were ITK in the summer, although that may have been someone else.

Yeah know for definite. Don't tend to get much info on incoming transfers, but reasonably ITK on outgoings.

Club were never going to accept below £7m. Yeah he had 16 in 45, but for your first season of league football, that's pretty damn good. Especially when you look at the raw talents of the player, he's easily worth the money.

You also look at all the other bids we turned down last summer, shows we were only going to accept big money for any of our players.

Spending spree also started way before then. £7m for Assombalonga when he'd never played in the Championship before? £11m for Ross McCormack?

Story is definitely bollocks.

How much money have Derby spent? Absolutely ludicrous for the Championship.

So £2m for Blackman. Hopefully £2m for us to spend to bring in a decent striker. Not bad business given he was out of contract in the Summer.

Fair enough mate. Something still went horribly wrong with us and it must've involved the chief executive to lead to his sacking. Thought that it all added up and made good sense, but back to scratching our heads I guess then!

Contrary to the Bristol Post saying that he'll be played in the u21's, our new lad Arnold reckons he's going straight in the first team, go on lad.

A stupid amount but if we get promoted though ....

We've also heard from Mel Morris and he said transfers are structured over many years. With Derby not being big spenders for a while now, we've got the luxury of not owing much to other clubs. It's essentially how you get round FFP because a £23m spend could be (not sure on accuracy of this) about £10m spent up front and then the rest of the contract of the player, so in the next 3 years.

As if a heap of shit like Rotherham could ever sign someone of that calibre.

Remind me who you bought Le Fondre from again?

Come to think of it was it the same team who got Grabban and Dicko's careers back on track?

Don't be so naive as to think Reading are first team to have a 'decent' striker play for them.

Dicko was hardly having a bad career spell before he joined you. Anyway it's hardly like you got his 'career back on track', he played a grand total of 5 games for you.

He had been on loan at Blackpool, he was already in the fucking oblivion.

Let's not kid ourselves, he got his move to you because of that loan spell with us.

He'd had a shite loan spell at Blackpool and Wolves and was rotting in Wigan's reserves.

They're the facts.

He scored 9 in 32 in a awful Blackpool side that somehow stayed up against all odds. He was the only player who gave a shit when playing for us in our relegation season, which says a lot considering he was a kid on loan to us.

We were interested in signing Dicko since the loan spell in 2013, the only reason we didn't was Jackett wanted to bring in his own players first. Sure his spell at Rotherham clarified to us that he was a good player at that level, but I don't think it had any implication on us signing him or not.

That's what's you want to believe but in reality Wolves signed him so that we didn't and couldn't become a realistic threat to your title, like you signed Leon Clarke to stop anybody else from signing him and becoming a threat you your title, exactly what Derby are doing now and have done for the last season and a half.

Let's be reyt you weren't looking at signing him either if you were you wouldn't have let us sign him in the first place and then that 3-3 draw at NYS would have never have happend.

Believe what you like though if it'll help you sleep better.

Btw stay off Wikipedia that Blackpool loan was over two seasons and he played for us 6 times not 5.

No worries. I may well have been a similar story, you probably put in a lot of lower bids that were never accepted, and took too long to try and conclude a deal before others got interested.

I still don't believe (from what I know) that he would have gone to you, even if you had been the only bidders.
