Ashley Fletcher going Middlesbrough, wonder what that will mean for Patrick Bamford?

Wouldn't be handing anybody the title in July - a couple of muppet Villa fans on Twitter thought they had it wrapped up last summer with the signings they made and that ended in tears. You can't just chuck money at getting out of this league; there's much more strategy to it, but having the money is obviously a nice bonus.

Fixed that for you. The majority of us aren't morons. Don't get me wrong, we're more confident this season, but still aren't under the impression it's going to be easy. Funnily enough, the same morons who thought we'd walk the league last season are screaming that we're going to get relegated under Bruce now, go figure. :dk:

After a slow start, we've signed our sixth player today. Michael Hector joins Ola Aina on loan from Chelsea, Fraizer Campbell on a free from Palace, and Kevin Stewart, Callum Burton and Ondrej Mazuch for undisclosed fees from Liverpool, Shrewsbury and Sparta Prague respectively.

Still in need of a left-back and a winger. After great concern a fortnight ago, if we can keep hold of everyone else, we look to have a squad that can challenge at the top of the league rather than flirt with relegation.

Jamal Blackman signed on loan for the season from Chelsea. Young goalkeeper, got Wycombes young player of the season last year. No idea.

Aaron Tshibola - who was 'desperate' to leave Reading to join Villa - has joined MK Dons on loan. Jaap Stam offered him the chance to play every week and he refused to train. Hope that career is going well, money grabbing twat.
Was he of any use at Reading? Bit shit for us, and I don't think he could get into Forest's team either.

He barely played for us. 13 games of which 7 were as a starter, which is why we jumped at the chance to sell for £4m+.

Did look promising in his cameos as a box-to-box midfielder, but his academy CM partner Liam Kelly is the better talent. He will cement himself as first choice for us this season, after featuring heavily most of last season.

Where's he going? TBH if you get over 5/6m it's good business.
Won't tell me mate, nor who the replacement is, but apparently we won't be fucked off with it as the replacement is an upgrade. Believe that when I see it, but we want it wrapped up tomorrow.

Believe it when I see it, if the club had any indication of a bid or anything more advanced I'd doubt he'd have played the last friendly, unless everything has happened since then which seems rather quick.

Who from Scotland could be considered an upgrade? Going off what JJH said as well...

What's the fecking point of buying a decent forward and selling your best defender?
FWIW, I've heard Flinty to 'Boro and Ripley(?) coming the other way plus a few quid. :(

£5-6m is easily a good deal for Flint, especially if you are getting another player as well (even if it's only Ripley)

It would have to be someone like Sviatchenko or one of the Celtic CBs if it's an actual "upgrade".

Amazes me how highliy Bristol City fans value Flint.

He's a bottom half defender in this league who seems to cost them goals every week. Daylight robbery if they get £5m for him.

Nathan Baker is a massive upgrade, Ripley looks a good keeper too.

The more I look at valuations in this league, the more I think we would be fucking mugs to accept £4m for Hugill, i'd be wanting £6m/£7m.

33yr old Daryl Murphy went for £3m last summer, Derby spent £10m on Bradley Johnson and Jacob Butterfield, Grant Hanley cost about £6m!

Wednesday were the club Baker was set to sign for, fucking hell

Glad we're not afraid of handing out big wages still after how Tomlin and O'Neil went, for all the decent youth players that aren't on much you need a blend of experience and Baker brings that and he's still at an age where he'll improve.
