Big win for us which was badly needed after being without a win in 3. Helped our goal difference as well, nearly a perfect night if only Salford had scored. Superb stuff.

Out of interest, if we are not considered a rival of your club why is our twitter site rammed with comments from Bolton fans? How many comments would there be if you cared?
Their is History....most of it negative through past managers.
Tranmere invented this rivalry. The same with Wigan. Bolton v Wigan is now toxic but we dont see them as rivals in the football sense
Man Utd, Blackburn,Burnley and Bury have always been our Rivals
And before the Man Utd one is again brought up as to why
We have been in lge 1/premier league for most of our history

The are proberbly 20 Bolton fans for every Salford fan living in Salford

You invented the rivalry, we couldn't give a crap about your club. Its not important what club YOU happen to support. I would dislike you whatever club you supported. I dislike you because of who you are. An obnoxious poorly educated little nobody who thinks he is far above where nature has actually placed him. The gutter.

Nearly 4k is about 45 % of our season tickets.....Nope we are not your rivals never have been never will be
Maybe you should look to Barrow they mirror you in the amount of fans you both have. Barrows grounds a little better.....and you once had the same owner........perhaps with a bit of luck you could become Barrows feeder club

See you in another 30 years lah
Are you retarded.

If a 53 month old child wrote something like this it would get praised. You however are allegedly 53 years old. Are you just stupid or do you find it difficult getting out of character as a 12 year old.

Not a lot to add to what’s been said about Rovers last night. After an even first half Walsall were much the better team in the second. A mistake by Feeney led to the Walsall goal, but Osadebe’s finish was quality and we didn’t look remotely like getting back into the game after that.

I felt some of the criticism of the appointment of Keith Hill was harsh, but in recent games he has neither learned from his mistakes or acknowledged his responsibility for them in the post match interviews. Some of the football we’ve been playing especially in the away games has been dross. The automatic spots look out of reach and while we should probably do enough to scrape into the play-offs, it will be as a side devoid of momentum and little prospect of further progress. Depressing.

He was sacked in the summer and replaced by Pochettino after taking them from League 1 to the Premier League i think.
Adkins was sacked in the winter - Pochettino replaced him in January 2013.

Only managers I can think of who were sacked after a promotion was the Salford joint managers when they got promoted to the Conference and were then replaced by Graham Alexander.

Outsider looking in but surely from a Tranmere perspective you'd have taken where you are now after the start you had?

Probably but I think you have to be realistic too. In my opinion, we have one of the best squads in the division and I always thought it was only a matter of time until we clicked. And when we did we played some excellent football. The formation suited us and our attacking players were let loose to do what they do best.

However football is an ever evolving game. You can’t just have the same way of playing all throughout the season. You have to alter based on your opposition and based on what your team is capable of at that moment. We’ve stuck with the diamond and it got figured out by opposition sides after about 10/15 games. When Vaughan got injured, you can’t rely on playing the same way because he offers something different but we kept doing the same thing with players that don’t work in that style of play.

I fully believe if we mixed it up and now went with a front 4 of Vaughan and Woolery up top, Feeney and Lloyd/Blackett Taylor on the wings with Spearing and Morris in behind then we’d get promoted either automatically/via the playoffs. We’ve got a solid enough defense and if you let those players have a right good go at oppositions, we’d be an entirely different proposition.

Unfortunately I can’t see that happening and even if we are in the playoffs, I have no confidence that we’d make it through them as winners.

Josh Wright could and probably should have been sent off within 3 minutes for an elbow, we were terrible in both boxes however and got what we deserved nothing. So slow and boring, time to submit to the realisation of another season in the khazi league, wish the season would just end now the hope kills you.

I only wish we could attract a quality striker like Doyle or Vaughan to the club, but they’d never come here. We’d piss the league then.....

I agree with you on the mixing it up. In our recent away games I’ve certainly noticed us playing longer and being a bit safer at the back. Not long ball by any means but we were just pissing around with it at the back and being pressed into mistakes, especially earlier in the season. We now play a bit longer against a high press and run the channels and when teams sit off we play a lot slower from the back. Seems to be working a lot better...

Doyle has scored some good goals this season but has missed a lot too. He missed at least 3 last night that you’d have put your house on him to score. Same against Newport. His work rate off the ball is incredible though. He runs and runs and runs.

I've not checked, but I'm pretty sure Keegan took them into the First Division.

EDIT: Looked it up - Keegan took over in the 97 playoffs (replacing Ray Wilkins who got them to the playoffs) and they lost to Grimsby. Keegan then took them up as champions in 1999, but then left to concentrate on managing England.

Has a manager ever been sacked after guiding a team to promotion?

Stoke did that once with Gudjon Thordarson after he won the L1 playoffs. In his case though he was also a bit of a loon and had fallen out with everyone else at the club.

It was off the top of my head but I'm sure it was something like that so I went and looked it up and Adams was sacked after leading Fulham to the 3rd division promotion place and being named 3rd division manager of the year. However he did get 8 games the next season.

I got a little confused over the leagues and timings. My apologies.

Seems like Tranmere are still adjusting to life back in the Football League. Their promotion to L1 might have masked that but they were pretty mediocre in their first season back and late run of form saw them as surprise play-off qualifiers and then winners but they just weren't ready at all to be in L1.

I mean we’re 5th in the league now so it’s not exactly a disaster! Plus last season in League One, I genuinely feel like we would have stayed up had the season continued.

I think we’ve just about got over our National League time. Our finances are very good, there are lots of exciting projects happening at the club and we’ve obviously had a promotion to League One already. If we don’t go up this season then I reckon we’ll be nicely placed to go up next season
