I’ve just remortgaged our house, pawned all my wife’s jewellery and emptied out our savings account and it’s all going on a Barrow home win.

Well you should've put it on Scunny as we always seem to struggle with the games we are expected to win against the bottom sides. Hence my bad feeling ahead of the game tomorrow.

We had a glamorous record of won 1, lost 5 against the eventual bottom 3 last season. IIRC both yourselves and Southend with famous doubles over us.

I seem to recall chipmunx mentioning about 150 times once or twice that your record against the top teams eg Cheltenham was a bit better though?

Correct, although you forget to mention our historical double over Mansfield. Up there with the famous FA Cup 4th Qualifying win over Tranmere.

I am looking forward to our visit to Harrogate tomorrow night. There is a lot of anticipation for this game on the Wirral, with Rovers building up a head of steam in recent weeks. Our allocation was sold out last week.

Harrogate's recent form is not that great, and I fancy us to get a narrow victory if the defensive wall does its job again. Keeping Armstrong, Muldoon and Diamond quiet will be key.

Harrogate recent form not that good?. They happen to have won their last home game 6-1!

we desperately need a result tonight, but I’ll guess a point at best.

God I wonder who was the one team you did beat

If you lose to a team that's won 2 of its last 29 games serious questions need to be asked

We've sold out our allocation for Bradford, extra 200 went in about 30 mins, so a decent 700 gonna be there.
What a fantastic effort. Will there be any Smurf costumes in there?

Getting ready and looking forward to trip to Leyton Orient and sampling their wonderful London 'pie 'n mash with liquor'
Lovely grub.

FGR have not had the best of results against top teams that Orient certainly is, so although I'm hoping for away win I'll not be surprised if we don't get it.

Should be a good atmosphere, we're abysmal on our travels but still bring really good numbers everywhere, kind of wishing I never gave my ticket away now, oh well :ffs:

It's a bit of a cliche, but the rain and wind will be a leveller. There won't be much football played tonight.

Scunthorpe looked a much bigger side than us, and if it becomes a physical battle there's every chance you'll take a point or more.

Normally I would say "hope your team responds" but I'm sure you'll forgive me for not doing so this time. If and it's a big if, we take our chances, we'll take the points. I expect a draw though.

TBF Scunthorpe is a nightmare journey and not an attractive destination, town- or ground-wise, and frankly our track record of being at or near or the top of the league playing teams at or near the bottom is not encouraging.... (Was amazed we had over 110 at Carlisle, which is obviously some trek, but in all other regards a great awayday).

Orient is by any measure an attractive destination, but it being a Tuesday night will bring numbers down a bit. I'd be surprised if we took over 100, and also think a draw or loss is a realistic outcome. We've been a bit off the boil lately, and Orient are good.

I don't think we're as good as we or other teams think we are.
Our wins have come against teams off form or with issues (e.g. Exeter with Covid stuff, and Oldham).
Only taken a measly 3 points from the last 4 games, scoring 3 times (2 coming in a loss).
Would take a draw, feels like we've been found out a little and our early positive form was more of a blip than a genuine reflection of our ability.
Plus our Tuesday night home record is genuinely shameful.
0-2 FGR.

Yes, against the bottom team and whipping boys of the league.

They have only won two of their last five and those victories were both against sides in the bottom four.

Neither Harrogate or FGR will finish in the top 3.

Made both of them look very ordinary. Just had a good start, that's all.

Didn't see FGR but in fairness I thought Harrogate looked one of the worst sides we've faced so far. Must be doing something right I guess but were poor at VP.

We've certainly had a relatively easy start to the season, and we've not beaten the best teams we've played (Swindon probably the most impressive of them).

Will we end up top 3? Not sure, but (while we've had in a dip in form the past few weeks, and possibly our best performances have been in no-score draws or in the Brentford defeat....), comparing this year's performances - not just in terms of stats, but in terms of calibre of squad (bear in mind one of our key players, Dokes, has been out injured, as has another important and capable one, Whitehouse), I think we're worlds ahead of the two seasons we ended up in the L2 play-offs. So unless things go badly wrong or we're hit by further injuries, or our entire squad is bought up by an ambitious League One or Championship side in the next transfer window, I'd not bet against it, as things stand.

Annoyed I can't make it to Orient tonight. One of the most agreeable club set-ups there is.

I think you'll comfortably be in the top 7. Just think the likes of us and Tranmere will show more quality over the course of the season, and sides like Swindon, Orient and Exeter will only get stronger as the season progresses. Not saying it can't happen, I just don't think you'll keep it up to last the season, that's all. Certainly hope we maintain our start and finish top 3 because I'd hate to play you over two legs, even though we always beat you. Just know, when it really mattered, we'd bloody fall apart and lose to you. Sod's law.

Its hard to say, FGR have always been decent (we seem to have a good record on them recently which maybe skews our view) that said this stage last season Newport were flying, dropped right to mid table before a late scramble into the top 7 so shows its still very early for anyone to get too excited.

Tranmere have done well but dont score many, reliant on a crazy defensive record, can they keep that going? probably not but would expect them to score more and have some spending power in January.

Its fairly open as a league, I guess from Vale's view is this does seem a good side this season and we have got some ridiculous depth compared to anything we've had in years with players like Rodney, Benning, Martin, Politic, Amoo, Walker not even getting in the starting XI at the moment so should be better equipped to weather injuries compared to say last season, main worry is goals if Proctor or Wilson gets crocked for a long period though so may need to get another hitman in during January to sustain it.

Teams like Harrogate and Sutton will need a lot of luck with injuries compared to the bigger clubs I guess.

Salford v Rochdale has a very 1990s rugby league feel to it. Can see us either getting dicked or a draw. If ex Dale Henderson and Lund are fit and playing I’d bet on them scoring.

Fans talking down their chances, manager up against it, playing one of the form teams in the division, this is lined up for a Mansfield win. It's absolutely classic port vale defeat territory this.

As soon as expectations and hopes increase they get dashed.
