I just watched the extended highlights. I thought Harper's 1st yellow card was actually slightly harsh. The 2nd was obviously stonewall. I laughed at the co commentator, who said he got a slight touch on the ball. Ridiculous comment.

Some of Vale's defending was absolutely outstanding. We only created 2 golden chances despite the man advantage, which is a credit to them.

I also didn't realise we hit the outside of the post with Holicek's hugely deflected shot (which was somehow given as a goal kick).

Talking of deflections, the Vale goal was deflected. For some reason it's a lot clearer on the extended highlights. The clip put on this thread was a bit unclear. It was a great connection, but the deflection completely took it away from the keeper.

I also think Vale should have done better with the chance Richards put wide after they pressed and dispossessed Sanders. That was probably their best opening of the game. If that had gone in, it's almost certainly game over.
Very little to disagree with there, albeit I do think Harpers 1st was a booking, maybe a bit harsh especially when other similar tackles went unpunished.

Agree about the commentators comment re the 2nd booking. Looks clear to me your lad got there first. Even if he did touch it, it's a glance, the ball would have stayed in play and he's taken the lad out. Clear booking.

And that goal kick call for the deflected corner was ridiculous. Did you see where the ref was? No excuse, he was just incompetent.

at one point harper got caught late above the knee. nothing. it was staggering what they were getting away with compared to us. the first booking was very harsh, especially considering there's 3-4 equally late fouls by them which go unpunished in the first half. But we had multiple players walking the tightrope at half time and they had none...shite.

obviously red changes the game, we were comfortable with 11 on and defended well for most part with 10 but at full time I did feel relieved to get a point.

Yeah this one confused me. We pressured Vale the entire half, felt like it might be one of those days, freezing our balls off and hoping to get the point we can see we deserve, and then we get a 93rd minute equaliser against local rivals, who happen to be top of the league, away at their ground. Had the shoe been on the other foot, would Vale have just say quietly or would they have gone mad too?

Of all the criticisms, celebrating a last minute equaliser shouldn't be one of them.

Exactly, it's a great moment. Deserved it underserved. Injury time goals to equaliser or better still win and the feeling it gives are one of the reasons we watch games live.

The celebration police are levels above the away followings police. It's just frustration talking.

I just think with the 1st yellow card he could have let him off. It's one of them that usually does result in a yellow (closing down the player clearing the ball and getting there just a bit late). However, I think the contact was minimal, if indeed there was any. Personally, I wouldn't have complained if he was just given a talking to. I think it's a fairly subjective one. A lot of refs would have carded him, but some would have gone for a brief chat.

I wish he did just give him a telling off.

Maybe you're right, it's the way the game is these days unfortunately.

I didn't notice any challenges we got away with, but I had been in the pub for a good amount of time pre game so I'll trust you on that one!

From the position we were in (11v10 for basically the whole 2nd half), we should have won. We didn't take full advantage of it, so I'm a bit more frustrated than a lot of Crewe fans. However, Vale absolutely deserved a point for the way they defended when down to 10. Defending like that deserves to have some reward. So I think a point each was absolutely right.

But no one is saying anything about the goal celebrations, only you.

Well that's evidently not true.

Maybe stick to whether that shot that resulted in a goal for Port Vale took a deflection or not based on video evidence and freeze frames.
Leeds Valiant said he found the end of the game celebrations a bit OTT. But otherwise, no Vale fan is knocking Crewe for celebrating a goal in injury time ‍

No freeze frame or video evidence required, there's a quote function that will suffice...give it a go

He did indeed, told ya. Others (including myself) thought it's very hard to OTT celebrate an injury time equaliser especially in a big game, with big crowd, big away following and especially when a local rivalry. Leeds Valiant isn't alone with his view as we've seen earlier this season.

A quote function is going to help determine whether the ball hit the Crewe player before smashing into the back of the net? :dk: I think I will stick to the slow motion replays.

Yeah, just to reiterate, we would have celebrated a late equaliser in exactly the same way...no issues with that. It was the OTT celebrations at the end that I found odd. Again, maybe that's just me. I would see it as a huge missed opportunity.

I always think the better referees let those sorts of things go with a bit of a talking to. As Stocky said earlier, he seemed like the sort of ref who wanted to show he wasn't swayed by the home support. Unfortunately, another example of a ref who thinks everyone has come to see him. Wrong choice for this game...he only looked in his 30s. The EFL seriously need to look at what refs they are allocating to what game.

No, you misunderstood me and it appears you're still misunderstanding the celebration comment. The quote function was a suggestion for you to back up your claim that "evidently" you're not the only one going on about over celebrating a goal. Not one Vale fan has said Crewe fans over celebrated a goal, as if.

However, as has been highlighted many times now by LV, and myself, in his opinion Crewe fans celebrations at FT (Full Time) were over the top. Him, and a few others believe Crewe should be disappointed with a draw against 10 men. 3 points were there for the taking and you could argue a draw suits us more than it does Crewe.

Apologies for all the confusion, hope that has cleared everything up for you.

Simple week, beat Vale, beat Carlisle, top of the league.

In all seriousness like with Walsall and Notts games another 4 points from these two games will keep us in a very healthy position.

Vale tommorow is going to be a good occasion and a great atmosphere under the lights. Over 2k from South Cheshire making the short journey. Just hope the game lives up to the occasion. I can see a tight game to be honest, both teams seem to pride themselves on being solid and organised. I think our main objective will be to keep Vale to nil. Sounds negative but defensively weve been so solid this season bar one game vs Chesterfield, weve got the best defence in the league anyway. Then we will lopk to.nick something on the break, which weve got the quality to do with Traceys pace and Bogles hold up play.

I'd expect we will probably just make the one change from the Notts game with Knight-Lebel returning after making his Canada debut last week, he will likely replace Connolly.

Marschall

Knight-Lebel Demetriou Williams

Conway Sanders Tabiner Holicek Cooney

Bogle Tracey

Port Vale 1-1 Crewe (Stockley, Tracey) 8500 (2100 away)

What we're these over the top celebrations you speak of?

Abit of clapping and chanting then everyone went home. Wasn't any of the cringey fist pumps ect. Just the usual post match stuff every team does.

Fantastic, I'm kind of dreading January to be honest. Got a bad feeling you might recall him. Our system seems to suit him so well. He's a great wing back, give us such a great attacking outlet. He has even played in centre mid when we had an injury crisis and did a decent job.

Made abit of a mistake for the Vale goal yesterday, but that's probably been his 1st whilst with us, and after that was up there with our best players on the night with a good assist for the equaliser.

Yeah, he's been outstanding. I think we're getting to the point where it would be more surprising if Bolton don't recall him in January.

Not my opinion to be honest, just clarifying for the Notts fan what LV was saying, as despite being told 14 times he wasn't referring to the goal celebration, he kept going on about it.

The only thing that I thought was a bit OTT and embarrassing was players like Cooney coming over to the Lorne St at the end trying to wind fans up but getting wound up himself and having to be ushered down the tunnel by Dicker (I used to work with his Dad by the way, nice guy, Bristol Rovers fan). Didn't get why they ran to the Lorne Street after the goal either. Scored in front of 2k fans, go celebrate with them. Instead ran to the pensioners and disabled stand. Tracey licking his tongue out as well. Everyone around us just laughed.

I think January might be make or break for a few teams. Fortunately for us, the only really regular loan player has been Cover and we have 2 more than capable replacements. You'd think if the lad from Stoke at Walsall gets recalled or moved then that's got to affect them.

Colchester lad did similar. 2000 people have put themselves out to attend on a Monday night and that penis is goading opposition fans instead of celebrating with his own. Footballers are fucking stupid at times. Also, why did the goalscorer pick up the ball and run off somewhere else rather than straight back to the centre circle? If that was me, I'm grabbing the ball and sprinting back to get a winner, when all the momentum is with me. As I said, thick fuckers at times are footballers.

Why on earth would Cooney try and taunt fans at the end? I could kind of get it if he had won. He does seem like a bit of a prick to be fair.

In balance, I have seen Vale players do it too when scoring this season but the difference being we won the game. Still don't like it though...celebrate with your own supporters who've paid a lot to be there.

It usually is as we found in the league above with Arblaster and Devine which cost us last season, thats the issue with have loan players as key men rather than compliments which is what we have done this season, if Cover goes back we have Mitch Clark and Kyle John both excellent right wing backs, all be it sounds like Cover may be one we look at a perm on.

If Walsall lose the Stoke lad which you would expect they will it will be a huge gap to fill, but if you score goals on loan you're either going back to play for your parent on a League One club is having them post January on loan so thats the gamble you take with it I suppose as we ourselves have experienced a few times.

January will be interesting, usually benefits the big spenders as they can bring in and improve areas identified as weaknesses easier so may benefit for example Vale, MK and County if they get it right but time will tell.

The one positive for us is last night we missed some really big players for us, Kyle John, Lorient Tolaj, Nathan Smith, Jesse Debrah, George Byers, Ben Garrity and Mitch Clark didn't make the 18 and with most due back soon its a real positive, especially Byers. If we can just keep ourselves plodding along ticking the points over a couple more games then with them back in the fold we go into mid December in a very good place availability wise.

To be fair we all loved it when Ruari and Curtis did it to the Accrington fans who had taunted them just before the late equaliser but when your scoring at the end your own fans are in surely you're in there celebrating like we did at Morecambe.

Was weird that as one of their players knocks the ball away from half way so Richards had to go and retrieve it from their half! I expected them to grab the ball and slap it on the centre spot!

That was the opposite end of the pitch to the Vale fans though. These lads ran away from their own fans to head to a load of pensioners who never said boo to a goose

Byers and Garrity in there last night we win that comfortably
They are a big miss, Byers with Croasdale should work a treat but its a huge downgrade having a makeshift midfield with them two both out. We can dominate proceedings with Byers.

I felt that at times they had too much space in midfield areas, although as is the mode these days, they seemed happy to knock it side to side so the possession stats look good. Garrity would not have let that happen. Byers also keeps possession and is always available, something which I felt we needed at times.

100% there's also Championship scouts watching Jamie Jellis and Connor Barrett there's already a rumour we want Freddie Draper back from Lincoln and DJ may be going elsewhere as he's just not playing here anymore. Most likely scenario with Lowe is they call him back and send him to League one i reckon although he did play 15 times for Stoke last season so they might give him a go there now.
Best young striker I've seen down here for about 20 years he's better than Adebayo was here and he's played in the prem and scored in the championship.

I said the same about the Colchester lad. It's a kick in the teeth that your own player wants to act like a 5 year old and goad opposition fans when you've probably paid out minimum £40 to be there. Like I said, footballers are really dumb sometimes.

Jellis looked a class above for Tamworth last year before he joined Walsall, not suprised to see him make the step up

Not sure why more L2 clubs don't sign players from NLN, there's some serious talent down here

Callum Stewart from Leamington is someone that Walsall should be sniffing around, top scorer in the league and only 22

Obviously hope that happens with the Walsall and Crewe loanees, but it doesn't always work out for players recalled and moved elsewhere. Let them carry on developing and enjoy a season not every professional gets to experience. Surely better for their development that way.

Alfie Devine a prime example
