Wellens never seemed keen on youth when he was with us. Even to the point of ignoring Scott Twine completely! He got us up, in part, by signing players too good for L2 but with questionable injury records. He got away with that with us. He did sign some very good loan players, though.

Having Doyle and Yates was the trick, though.

Be interesting to see how he and Vigs get on. He does seem a bit of a vindictive manager.
Its seems that you were not that keen and if that is the case thats a short memory you have. Yes he made the odd errors of judgement but on the whole he was brilliant for us. Not sure where the vindictive aspect of his personality is though

It’s a home fans sell out tomorrow v Oldham so we should be looking at 12,000 overall.

I hope some of our more ‘enthusiastic’ fans don’t do anything really stupid for the return of Sheridactyl.
Oh god the scenes when it’s 3-0 Oldham by half time

Rovers recall veteran keeper Joe Murphy for Doohan tonight and revert to a back four. Probably the right choice.

i’ll call this early but we’ve lost.

tranmere starts brilliantly but this ref is hilarious, he’s literally giving everything to tranmere, he’s embarrassing. blatant yellow card for tranmere nothing, fair challenge for us, free kick for tranmere.

I don’t mind if we lose fairly but give us a chance

edit - there player goes down, he allows play on to allow tranmere to have a chance, the minute we get the ball he calls it to look at their player.

This is comedy gold

You say this every game can't believe the vendetta L2 refs have against Mansfield

Looking forward to my 5th visit but no idea how we'll do!
I hope we'll score for our 14th (I think) away game in a row. Don't think 1 will be enough to win though.

Based on our recent games one goal quite probably would be enough.

On the refereeeing, don’t know how Longstaff escaped a foul and possible card for the treading on Macdonald. Otherwise it’s been pretty random.

Rovers need something from this game, but the way things have gone after the early Clarke goal not hopeful.

Get the feeling that Tranmere need to go all out for the win in the last twenty minutes. Not sure a draw is that much good to them. Better to risk losing to try and win it I feel.

A bit harsh to lose it so late obviously but we defended woefully for all three goals, cracking finish for third mind. We were going to lose eventually, all about how we respond now, still got games in hand on everyone bar Exeter.

Not a bad result as Tranmere have played three more than us… needs us to do our job tomorrow which would set up a chance to leap frog Mansfield Tuesday and make that one a biggy.

Come on AC let’s get out of second gear and actually have a go now

nah on the face of it tranmere deserved it on the night. we lost the battle in midfield and we kept dropping off, the last goal shouldn’t have happened but a quality goal, worth a clap.

i can’t imagine we’d finish below tranmere, but football it’s an odd game

Better team won tonight, diabolical defence display and midfield non existent. Will fade into mid table obscurity if we play like that again.

Depends how you look at it I guess. If Tranmere didn’t get all three points tonight suddenly they would be in the conversation with us as the teams who flame out completely from the race. Win like that though is the kind that can be the catalyst for them though.

We need to do the same starting tomorrow then against Mansfield on Tuesday. If we lose fine but it’s the way we do it that will be looking for. Have a good go at them and if we get caught cold so be it. I don’t want to see this whole just hang in there and hope to nick something, basically that’s just Aspinball but with better players now.

we won’t finish below tranmere, we played the wrong tactics and came for a point, we’re better than tranmere, i hate saying stuff like that but we are.

We should have played our normal game tonight and we’d have got something - that said we were fortunate to beat exeter last week - swings and roundabouts

what i say isn’t bitter, tranmere deserved the win, quality goal to win it

That’s it isn’t it, we were so conservative against Tranmere, Rochdale, Harrogate, Colchester and the last 78 minutes against Stevenage and it bit us on the arse, especially as we dominated three of those games and didn’t win any of them.

Just have a go, pointless getting three or four wins and 6 draws and finishing 10th. Go for the throat now and if we come up short at least we can say we went for it.

Waiting times pre covid were down 37% on Labour's last year in Govt. Facts don't care about your opinions casey mate
You don't have to bite every time. I was just fishing after your cold gag.

Working tomorrow so I won't get to see our customary loss in Burslem. Not expecting points but hoping for a performance.

Appiah came back from injury Tuesday but Tunnicliffe did his hamstring. I don't think I've ever known a season like this for injuries!

I think we deserved the win but you can tell Mansfield are a decent side that try to play footy and I like that. I thought we did tonight as well though so made for a good game between two solid sides.

Was fearful before tonight but that has made me think we’ll be ok for the playoffs with anything else being a bonus. Great finish from Nevitt for the winner.

I know Mansfield have games in hand on all bar Exeter but haven’t they got quite a tough few games with FGR still to play twice? I think only 3 of our last 10 games are against teams in the top 10 so our fixtures aren’t too bad. Just need to keep that momentum going against Harrogate and Sutton now!

i appreciate tonight was probably deserved and the tactics were wrong but i’d be very concerned if mansfield finished below tranmere, i hate making such statements but mansfield are better than tranmere, even playing the wrong tactics wr shouldn’t have lost.

Mansfield were the better team in the first half, after Clarke’s early goal for Rovers and the timing of their first goal deep into first half added time and after we’d fluffed a couple of half chances ourselves, felt like it could be lethal. However, the visitors didn’t come out as strongly in the second half. Two excellent finishes from Nevitt gave us the win. Credit to Mansfield for pressing on for a winner after their second equaliser at the start of 8 minutes added time, though with hindsight, wonder if Clough regrets that as there was more space for Rovers to attack and grab the winner.

The win certainly increases confidence about Rovers securing a play-off spot. I predicted Mansfield would go up at the start of the season and so long as they bounce back quickly think that’s still likely.

You’re making us sound like a really poor side which we’re not… Honest! We’re just extremely inconsistent. Bare in mind we’ve been on a torrid run and have now just beaten a team that hadn’t lost in 14. Last night we actually tried to ply some footy which was a change from the last month or two. Amazing what happens when you don’t shit yourself and lump it long every time you’re in possession!

V windy today. Hopefully no hoof ball and both teams keep it on the floor and play football the proper way. We aren't losing this. 8 points behind FGR with a game in hand come 5pm.

I hope this isn’t seen as an attack, but I’m a bit confused by your comments.

You’ve told us a lot this season that you won’t go up/aren’t good enough, it’s just a run and an unbelievable achievement if you make the play offs.

You’ve finally lost a game in forever, you admit that you deserved to lose - but you’d be disappointed if you finished behind Tranmere, who you think you’re better than despite deserving to lose - who’ve been in the top three for quite a while now.

Get off the fence pal :D

I don’t think we will go up, tranmere certainly won’t.

I’m happy to admit when we were poor and deserved to lose, we’ve been lucky in our run, could have had a late penalty conceded against you, lucky to beat exeter the other week
