We were woeful in the first half tonight - probably made Newport look good. So many stupid mistakes at the back this season (and yeah, Farman has been responsible for a few - tries to be clever).

Total dominance in the second half, and for once we actually managed to see it through - Josh Gordon with a screamer to win it. What a signing he's been! Robbie Gotts however looks like the best signing in our recent history - what the hell he's doing playing for us is a mystery.

Not getting carried away - especially because we seem to self-destruct all too often - but we should comfortably be a top half team this season.

pretty much sums it up - apart from Jordan Stevens who along with Gotts ran rings round Newport 2nd half

Have to say that is a huge boost for Hartlepool. I always felt so long as Challinor remained they’d be ok and nothing so far has changed on that score.

Big game for us today. Very often in the past when we have these fixtures where you think it’s friendly for us we often play like we think we only had to turn up and get our arses handed to us. Everything so far has indicated this league is largely even and on any given day anyone will beat anyone so we can’t afford be having that mindset or we will lose. I’m hopeful under DC that is less likely.

Hugely uneasy on today. Even the local press up there have a match preview and predict Scunthorpe 0 Port Vale 3… we’ve lost 1 in 7, won 3 in 4 including ending Harrogate unbeaten run and the only side to beat the leaders…

Bookies fancy us… you just know how this always goes with us.

Well done Dave Challinor. You've earned that contract, sit back and relax today ;-)

Expecting a Jamie Proctor masterclass today considering how terrible he was for us

In fairness he’s been very good for us so far, 5 goals but didn’t really break into the XI until after 3 or 4 games.

500+ Carlisle going down to Sutton to likely see another turgid performance and defeat. This team, this club and the people running it really don’t deserve that kind of backing.

Just seen that we've conceded 1 first half goal this season, the best in the league.

We've then conceded 12 second half goals, the worst in the league.

I wonder when Port Vale will score a hatful today

As expected we are playing our best striker so far this season Oli Hawkins at CB alongside Rawson, Hewitt moved to RB.

Johnson starts upfront with Bowery who’s first start came last Saturday against Rochdale and he did well to be fair.

A drizzly day for El Flatcapico.

Dale make 4 changes from midweek with Coleman, Graham, Broadbent and Newby replacing Lynch, Taylor, Dooley and Odoh.

Ex Daley Harrison McGahey makes his debut for the Latics.

Don't think there's a position on the pitch that we are stronger than Port Vale.

Gonna be so difficult today

Francillette back from injury. Teams up with Dalison as a centre back pairing. Might be a bit of a rush back for him due to the injury crisis. With them two we shouldn't let in any headed goals...jinx.

Nadesan misses out first of a three game suspension for being a twat.

Jealous you have Robbie Gotts mate. I was hoping we would go in for him from our local rivals Leeds

1-0 down. Another garbage performance. Adams is clueless.

Bit of a nothing first half at the Orient, no major chance for either side, but a big shout to the ref, who either clearly hails from Mansfield, or owes someone from Mansfield a significant amount of money, because literally everything has gone their way.

Very strong handball penalty shout waved away and plenty of dubious decisions all going to the visitors. Smith is being used as a springboard by their backline and nothing being done.

Think we've been marginally the better side, but nothing really separating the teams at the half, aside from the reffing.

Well this is an exact repeat of Exeter two weeks later.

Neither team looks like scoring before the CM ghosts in and scores just before half time. Expect another 4-0.

Port vale look very poor and yet they're still streets ahead of us, says it all

Beautiful goal for us, Conlon with a couple of keepy uppys, lobs it into Garrity who dinks past the last man and fires home.

Deserved lead, we’ve had a few good chances but been wasteful. Need to push on now.

Bit of a sickener right before the break. Been the better side really but their equaliser, Killip should've come for it and didn't, easy header at the back stick.

Well,Bradford look exactly like their fans said they would. If they get a quick forward in January they will go in a run. Mind you Cook has had a couple if half chances.

Crawley are doing ok for a team that can't hold onto the ball. Quick breaks are all we have shown really

Ref watch. After Tuesday I want this one's babies
