And yes, our forum is just a foul place. Despite winning 7 games in a row or whatever, as soon as we drew with Guiseley, our title chances were over. If you're ever in need of a laugh, visit it after we've lost or drawn. Reminds me of Luton Outlaws.

I'm not sure anything could ever be as bad as Luton Outlaws.

He spat at someone didn't he ?

Actually just looked at the highlights again and you can clearly see him spit on Parkin from about 5m away but right in right in front of the referee (if you slow it down you can actually see his cheeks puff out to spit and the ref then watches the flight of the loogie as it flies across in front of him and slaps onto Parkin).

Should get a 5-6 match ban for that based on previous FA decision on spitting.

After a weekend off from here it's disappointing to come back reporting on the home loss to 2nd placed Kings Langley. We really missed an opportunity to put some daylight in the title race with Egham also falling to a draw, instead we've lost out by not really turning up by all accounts. Langley won 1-0 and Ritchie Hanlon confused everyone by saying really nice things about us as a club and a team before the game, which is odd after the game at their place that was abandoned after multiple brawls and Hanlon himself getting sent off early in the 2nd half (IIRC)...

We're now 1pt ahead of Kings Langley who have 1 game in hand. Egham's dropped points means it's not as bad as it could have been as they come up to 7 behind with 4 games in hand. Elsewhere Chalfont St Peter's slide continues with a loss at home to the resurgent Fleet Town, but Royston won 4-1 to bolster their title hopes (4th, 8pts behind us with 3 games in hand). St Ives were postponed but it's not looking good for them having slipped down to 5th, 2 behind Royston having played a game more.

Big pressure now on Diamonds to pick up some wins and hope that others don't or the title charge may fall by the wayside, though playoffs in our first season at this level would still be a huge success it would only be disappointing considering how long we've been holding down the top spot. Not an easy trip to Potters Bar up next week, and we'll be keeping an eye out for the Egham vs Royston game on Tuesday night, at least one of them has to drop points, and a draw would be fantastic, Royston winning would be better than Egham doing so for our title hopes.

For the record, Strevens spat on the ground in the fat lads direction, which is very different to spitting directly into someone face.
The ref never saw it, so should never have sent him off.
All that said, they had both been at each other for at least 5 mins in the lead up to that.
You could say Parkin was more professional and made sure Strevens looked like the guilty party, but the Ref was shit all day, so no surprise he did what he did.
Completely out of character for Strevens, & Parkin will get his.

Apparently Strevens has got a 7 game ban! Seems quite harsh, I wonder why it's so long?

It's a more serious offence than most people realise. All sorts of diseases can be spread by this disgusting habit. There was a police officer contracted hepatitis through being spat upon by a football fan and subsequently died, back in the day. 7 games is not long enough for the filthy bastard.

The ref clearly saw it, as it happened right in front of him. He was looking at it. But to be fair, the ref gave us nothing 1st half and everything 2nd half.

Oh and how will Parkin "get his"?

Loving the Grimsby fan on fishy forum who says they could have won if they hadn't let in 4. I know what he means though, coz we could have won at theirs if we hadn't conceded 7. :ds:

Likely to be playing one of either FGR or Cheltenham in the final though.
I know. Hopefully FGR because I just wouldn't be confident of beating Cheltenham. Mind you, we'd be 1-0 up on 80 minutes and concede 2 in injury time against FGR.

That would be glorious.
I just can't believe how much spirit we've shown recently, Macclesfield, Southport, Wrexham, Eastleigh all goals after the 86th minute, great feeling scoring late!

But deep down I don't think we'll lose again this season but I can't see Cheltenham losing either and I bet well finish 4 points behind Cheltenham and fail in the play offs :(

Crazy to think without those late goals we'd be 11 points clear and have the title all but won already. But credit to you lot for hanging in there, I really think we'll both get over 100 points and just praying it's us that come out on top. And to be fair we've had a few late goals ourselves recently at Barrow and Dover, without which we'd be a point behind you. We do at least have the decency to score all ours before added time though ;)

Let's just hope we both go up and have a very local league two next season and leave all these northerners behind!

If we end up in the play offs I'd be confident of winning them. The table doesn't lie, the top 2 are different class to the rest of the league. Whoever we play, we should beat as long as we pick ourselves up.

Going up at Wembley wouldn't be the worst way to go up if we can't catch Chelts.

Parkin almost deserves a coin thrown at him for that celebration, the fat fuck.

Hopefully it's a quid eh? Get a cheese burger from McDonald's with that!

I think after being abused all game his reaction is only fair. In his position we'd all do it!

The only thing that matters is form going into the play offs. The rest of the season means nothing.

I thought that he was pretty restrained, given the circumstances...his celebration barely registers on the Adebeyor Scale!

Let me introduce you to reality. Cheltenham are light years ahead of you. Stepford Wives FC are nothing special despite the millions thrown at the squad. Bristol beat you comfortably in the play offs last year, and Grimsby, or one of the other of the great and historic Football League clubs in the chase will do the same, preferably, and I'm sure I speak for everyone, in a humiliating denouement at Wembley.

Parkin loves it though. Some make him out to the victim. You can tell it gets him going so he plays the shall we say 'old pro' and winds up opposition players and fans in equal measure.

Both Parkin and the fans wind each other up and both should take some back... which I must say, Parkin does excellently

The thing with Parkin is that he never gets wound up by the fans abuse but knows perfectly how to give it back when he scores, he's done it all his career. Loved it when he celebrated in front of 2,000 County fans 10 years ago!

Anyone who gives it deserves to get it back when it comes to bite them on the ass. As a result, I love that Parkin gives it back. My favourite celebration is that Adebayor one. The Goons deserved it for the abuse they'd given him.

If you can't take it, then don't give it out.

The reality is that FGR and Cheltenham drew both league games this season. Honours even.
The reality is that FGR have a better points score than at same stage last season when Bristol Rovers were 2nd in table.
The reality is that FGR are mathematically still in with a chance of automatic promotion.
The reality is that FGR are 15 points better than 3rd in table.
So the reality is that FGR are better than 22 other teams in the Conference which will be a huge bonus for them against any team they play for rest of season.
