Love to see Parkins 1st goal as he looked about 2 yards offside but it was a cracking finish. Less said about the 2nd goal the better, couldn't tell whether it went in off his belly or his arse, but he'll take it.

Well I've now seen Parkin's 1st goal and low and behold he was onside, played on by Green, the LB, who was hadn't stepped up. Great technique, from both Kelly's chipped assist and Parkin's volleyed finish. 2nd wasn't so bad either, just a typical goalmouth scramble from a corner that often happens at this level.
Still not really sure what Stevens straight red was for, kind of kicks out and barges Parkin after they unsuccessfully try to keep it in the corner, but may have been what he said.

Don't think Parkin helped taunting and provoking the 300 or so Eastleigh spectators.
To be fair to the Eastleigh fans, they were pretty noisy for most of the game, some of the loudest we have had at TNL this season. However, when you have been screaming abuse at a player for most of the game is it any surprise when he celebrates in front of you after scoring, how many players wouldn't do exactly that? The game was played in a pretty good spirit, not quite blood and thunder but plenty of good challenges, just a pity that Strevens disgraced himself at the end...no excuse for spitting at an opponent, disgusting man.

To be fair though Halifax is a disgusting racist shit hole so they probably caught it from us. :ds:
Never realised just how hilly Halifax was, bet you don't have any fat postmen there.
Even the toilet in the pub we went in was at a 45 degree angle, needed some spikes on my shoes to stop me sliding off it!
Also expected snarling grumpy police but the ones we encountered were all friendly and we even joked with them after the game that there were that many of them that they must have thought Millwall were in town, followed by were not all like those off Skint which had a lot of them laughing.
Had we been closer to the top i might have had my day ruined by the result but as we were never gonna catch the top 2 i really enjoyed the day out despite the result and missing both of our goals due to pissing off after 85 mins!

Yeah, if you're not from here you won't appreciate the implications of the term "pennine" town until you've experienced it. It was great having you, one thing these new "money" clubs will never have is the mutual respect, and indeed affection, that the great and historic English Football League clubs will always have for each other. One day we will play each other again in the Football League, where we belong. :bdick:

I notice Southport's manager has made the usual comments about us being a big physical side, really/
We had Muldoon, Caton, Hawkridge, Power and Wood starting for us and McDaid came on all under 5'10".
Southport were as big a side as I've seen us play this season.
Thought we mixed it well yesterday and the move between Caton and Muldoon was as good as I've seen us pass it about in a long time.

Yep, I bet if you worked out the heights of the players from both sides, Southport would have come out higher. McCombe and Rhead are obviously very tall, Bush and Beevs are quite big but other than that it's a smallish side. Don't forget Tempest and Farms with the other 5 you mentioned aren't huge either. Seems that if we beat someone sometimes the manager or the fans resort to trawling that one out time and time again as an excuse. Whatever, we played some really lovely stuff yesterday, hope we see more of the same for the remainder of the season.

No comment about Bush and Beevers please!

Great fun was had by all in the away end. Players, chairman and fans all singing along together. Think that's the biggest part of this club this year.. Togetherness!

All 318 of you. For a team on a 20 match unbeaten run and top of the league (probably tp stay there as you are the best team we have played this season) that is a pretty pathetic following. Having said that you did make a lot of noise albeit the same song over and over and over and over again !!!

It is a bit of a shame our home and away crowds haven't really improved much over the last few months, but it's been like that for many years for us now - there just isn't a great deal of interest in football in Cheltenham outside of the regular 2500 or so. Personally I can't make many games due to other commitments but at least those who do travel away represent us well as they did yesterday.

I never really get this "you should be taking more fans" it doesn't win you games. Wasn't it a couple of years ago at Wembley where Luton heavily out numbered york but still lost.

As longs as the fans that do go are as one, you'll make enough noise to be heard. We've always taken around the same numbers away from home to most games even in the league and I don't ever really see that changing.

Ben Strevens certainly wasn't like that as a player with us, and I bet he wasn't like that at Daggers, Wycombe or Brentford either. Being at Eastleigh must have seriously warped him.

We greatly outnumbered Newport, despite having been at Wembley a few weeks earlier, and they beat us 2-0.

Big fat paychecks are obviously better motivators that loads more fans.

People keep sharing it on Facebook and Twitter trying to wind us CTFC fans up, little realising that we all find it just as funny.

The constant tagging is beginning to get on my nerves a bit now though.

Heard the National League are going to investigate and deduct points from the Nympsfield club.

Where did you hear that?
In your local pub over a pint perhaps.
On same subject:
Will Cheltenham have points deducted because your fans threw an incendry flare into the crowd during game against Kidderminster.

Well if it was off his belly, then FGRJC's post is proved in a nutshell......!
JP's first goal came exactly at same time as Eastleigh fans were singing that he was a fat *****, so obviously he was pleased at the timing.
The second goal came off his face, not his slimline belly.

Doubt it. I think the rule is a banning order for the fan if caught and a fine for the club?

Spose you're right for this season at least, just thinking that the squad has been built by Hurst and you look at the likes of Wrexham in the past and these things can fall apart quite quickly.

He has built a very good core to the squad - something we lacked for years as we tumbled down the pyramid with a hotch potch of journeymen wanting a final payday and mulitple loanees. His activity in the Jan window has completely baffled me though. We were on long winning run but had lost the quality that Conor Townsend brought out wide. We had back up that (Scott Brown, Mackreth, East, Robertson, Pearson), though with shortcomings in certain areas, is certainly good enough to do a job with the core of quality that we have, barring an injury crisis. That pointed to a quality not quantity strategy for the transfer window. He's done the opposite - he's brought in 5 players which is quite disrupting - clearly showing in recent form.

The way results have gone since, automatic promotion was all but lost after we only took 1 point from the two home games with Forest Green and Cheltenham. Now we have to focus on keeping 3rd place. We have never won a play-off semi final playing the home leg first. We've never lost one playing the home leg second. I'm not sure Hurst can do this job now. The "fans have been spoilt" comment after a 0-0 home draw with a bottom 4 side was utterly stupid - we have the best season ticket sales for years, we have away support that flatters some championship sides and the fans, from one of the lowest income parts of the country have dipped into their pockets and donated £100k towards this season playing budget...the only person that is spoilt is Hurst by the level of support the fans have given him.

The sense of entitlement on The Fishy puts the moaners on our forum to shame.

They haven't had the biggest budget since they've been down here and would doubt they've even been in the top 2 budget wise. They're on course for their third consecutive play off campaign and they're having a meltdown of epic proportions.

Play off budget and a play off team.

You're missing a big point, we've had continuity that no other side in this league has had. It's a huge advantage, or at least it should be. Barnets, Bristol Rovers and Cheltenhams budgets won't have been much more than ours (in fact Barnets and Cheltenhams probably less). Our objective at the start of the season was the title, we're 19 points off in February ffs.

I love watching sides claim we're 'over reacting' just because we're third. Without seeming to have a bloody clue about the past 3 seasons. You base your reactions on your expectations, Hurst has fallen way way short of those this season.

The Fishy is feast or famine, has been since we've been down here, I don't post on there. It's 4 consecutive play-offs we are still just on course for. But we are 19 points behind the leaders in Feb and the manager is making odd decisions and not thinking about what he is saying very well. Hence the Fishy, with its volatile nature is very much in famine mode...

All fair points and I can completely understand your frustration. I just think the outpouring of the frustration is OTT. I mean you could still go up this season and the fishy are screaming Hurst out, do or die for the board etc.

If I was a Grimsby fan, it's up or out for Hurst - I can't see how bringing in a new boss now would improve your chances this season. Unless it was a 'big name' who wouldn't be around at the end of the season.

Re-watching the highlights it's a definite handball by the Chester defender his arms it in an unnatural position, but what did Langmead do to concede a penalty? He's barely touched Hannah.

Usually continuity is a good thing but when clubs like Luton and Wrexham have tried it after failed play-off attempts, they have crashed and burned the next season. Kudos to Hurst for managing to keep a bunch of players still up for it after 3 failed play-offs already.

And yes, our forum is just a foul place. Despite winning 7 games in a row or whatever, as soon as we drew with Guiseley, our title chances were over. If you're ever in need of a laugh, visit it after we've lost or drawn. Reminds me of Luton Outlaws.
