Oxford fans, tell me about this Irish kiddy we're supposedly signing, O'Dowda?

Hopefully O'Dowda isn't signing for you but with the silence from his Dad (his Agent) I won't be surprised to see it happen. He would, imo, be better off playing as a major part of our team for another year as I don't think he is ready for Championship football. He has the potential to be a very good player, possibly even at a International level.

COD made his Eire debut this summer coming on as a sub after starring for the U21s. Martin O'Neill rates him and kept him at the training camp before the Euros.

For Oxford, he has become has developed year on year both physically and in terms of his playing effectiveness. He can beat players one on one and an improving end product was very noticeable in the 2nd half of the season. Appleton played COD as a winger on the left and right wings as well as a no.10 in the hole behind a striker. The one thing Appleton did was play him in bursts starting games and then put him back on the bench for a few games and as a result COD scored 10 goals and had 14 assists. For an example of what he can do, try and find some extended highlights of last season's JPT final.

Thanks Marked Ox, we will have to wait and see if this happens. I would imagine he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter at our place as the competition for places is quite large with Luke Freeman and Joe Bryan already vying for the left midfield spot so the lad will have to find some consistent performances to get into the side should he join.
As I said, we'll wait and see if this does happen but it seem to be the consensus that it's already done. The fact you don't want him to leave speaks for itself.
Thanks again.

As he was 'ill' for our first pre season game and then 'ill' for our tour to Spain I would imagine he will be signing for another club very shortly.

He is very quick, exciting and his final ball has improved. Appleton stated that he had a conversation with him about building the team around him so clearly doesn't want him to go. We can't turn down good money though and I have confidence Appleton will find a replacement to develop.

Sorry chaps, never nice to lose a home grown talent. We'll look after him. Make sure you go and get the Oxford supporter Taylor now, just to piss off the methane snorters! :2thumb:

To be fair, it's still nice to have players that are worth paying for. Especially when they come through the youth system - it's been a long, long time since we sold Dean Whitehead.

In the last few games of the 2015/16 season it really looked like he was ready to step up, and I hope he is a success. Couldn't hold any sort of grudge against the guy who was so determined to get us promoted.

No, no NO! Take it out on the gas, that's what you're supposed to do! They're Bristol and the enemy FFS, destroy!!!
We'll lend you a few to help, Kieran Agard? Luke Freeman? would that do? Just batter the gas please. :2thumb:
Matty Taylor scores the winner for you against the methane snorters, how good would that be? :2thumb:

Matty Taylor has definitely been second on my wishlist all summer so that would be ideal. Don't worry fella, I might not be frothing at the mouth with rage at O'Dowda moving up a League but I'd still like us to do quite well.

Whoever gets Taylor (I hope he goes now tbh - he goes against everything any decent club stands for. He's stringing us and Oxford along hoping for a Championship deal still) then they can enjoy his poor fitness for the first 5-10 games.

Considering the season starts in 3 weeks, he's hired a personal trainer but won't have match fitness. Then of course he needs to win/earn his place in the side. He's made himself to look a right tit

He will completely flop at this level now, it's the Rovers way

Pleased he's signed, much less pleased than I would have been a month ago though... hope he delivers and in all seriousness he may well do!

Ha just seen the whole 'shaken hands' stuff with Oxford, I wonder if the combined hatred of the Bristol clubs over the last 24hrs has surpassed their hatred for Swindon

Maybe temporarily

10 out of 10 for consistency fellas. :2thumb:
I'm actually surprised he's decided to stay with you as I thought he was a goner.

Rock on, Brizzle United!
Bollocks to that! Just welcoming the newbie even though he's a methane snorting frog. Tell me you weren't chuckling when we signed your favourite neighbours best player yesterday?
We aren't half helping you in your A420 squabble this season.
