American Crime Story. This is brilliant so far, a dramatisation of the OJ murder trial. Definitely check it out.
Just seen the first episode of this. I think I'm going completely mental, cos all I can see is rave reviews and I'm here thinking it's genuinely one of the worst things I've ever seen. Terrible acting across the board, laughably heavy-handed directing, script was so bad it was childish ("I've got some bad news. Your ex-wife was killed." "What? She was killed? Is she dead?")

Is it meant to be a comedy or some sort of ironic satire that I've completely misread?

A lot of it factual based, so I wouldn't be surprised if that phone response was genuine.

Although, after watching the latest episode where it begins with a with a blatant jab at the Kardashians being fame-whores I can see your line of thinking.

Episode 20 or so of Gold Rush, been superb again this season. I like how they are turning into a Parker vs Todd rivalry, makes the show more interesting for sure.

Anybody tried Limitless yet? Looks okay from the trailers.

One of my favourites as well. If you're watching series 4 on channel 5 keep an eye on the TV guide, they do mess about with it. Series 5 will be aired in the US some time in the spring.

Yes. Its one of my favourite series. Series 4 Started on Channel 5 Last Night. There is a campaign to stop Season 5 being the last series. You can sign an online petition here -

I didn't realise Series 4 had started yet, thanks. :) They can't stop at season 5! Agent Shaw is the best character though :P

Wife and I are excited for Game of Thrones to be coming back.

Currently we just watch Blacklist. I still love that show.

So I've watched 3 episodes of Limitless, not really into the crime investigation drama stuff but the film was good so I've been curious to see what direction the series will be going - which will probably take shape in the next episode by the looks of it.

I really enjoyed the film and have high hopes for this series, going to try and start watching it soon - any idea where I can catch up the first few episodes?

I'm really hoping the 4th episode gets me hooked, not that it's been particularly bad so far but like I said I've never been into crime investigation dramas in general and that's pretty much what it's been, just with the nzt gimmick.

Watching it on Sky demand atm but will probably just download it via torrents rather than waiting on weekly episode releases.

Finalized Haven, which I really regret I insisted watching all of it since the series got downhill from season 3 and the ending was totally disappointing. Now looking for a good serie to watch, thinking about to start Prison Break or Breaking Bad or True Detective.

Black Sails is brilliant. Earlier series were a bit poor but this one is absolutely stunning.

Things got really non-sense since season 4 for me but season 5 is way worst. It seems like they tried to turn Audrey x Nathan in an exaggerated fairytale, totally boring. And the final episode just ruined everything even more, it looked like a romantic comedy and made the whole happenings of the series practically useless. Save your time while you can.

I've been working my way through the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes DVDs. Probably the best adaptations and I can watch them over and over. For me, he's the ultimate Holmes.

Yeah I go back and watch them every few years, he was by far the best and truest Holmes probably of them all even though I love Rathbone in the early film versions. Also the portrayal of Watson in those series was well done; Holmes didn't look down on him as he can do in other versions particularly the way the recent Sherlock ones do, Watson is seen as invaluable to Holmes in it as he is in the books and there is genuine warmth between them.

The Night Manager. Olivia Colman goes from Sophie from Peep Show to Victoria Wood in fifteen seconds flat. Rubbish.

Agree. Dont understand the hype over this one. Thought it was awful. I must hasten to add though Olivia Coleman is not rubbish and is a very good actress

It's not that bad, idiots. And Coleman's super smart, cardigan wearing, wee bit bumbling but w/ a rod of steel for a spine auntie locked away in a damp office is a 'type' in Le Carre dating back to Connie Sachs at least. So frame up.

I'm really enjoying it. The Egyptian femme fatale bait and switch was trashy, though.

I have not read the book of this one, but thinly drawn (to put it charitably) female characters as foils for nobly compromised heroes are something of a recurring 'type' too, in his more recent stuff, alas. I agree with the politics, more or less, but in the post Cold War ones he seems incapable of turning it into good fiction.

I read it about 15 years ago and therefore remember virtually nothing about it, except that Olivia Colman (whose accent is wonky to the point of annoyance/distraction) was a bloke called Len. I rather like it so far, too, though I'm a complete sucker for morally ambiguous, property-porn-laden spy shenanigans, and anything by Le Carre in particular.
