Just finished The Haunting of Hill House. Enjoyed it overall and thought it was adequately scary (particuarly the house scenes which were mostly very well done I reckon) but certainly not the horror event of the century it's been made out to be. Just kind of went over well treaded ground in a satisfactory sort of way. But I suppose when you watch something like this after all the hype then that's the impression you're most likely going to get.

Currently watching The Purge series too and think it's pretty good viewing if you enjoyed the films.

I'm gunna binge-watch the entire season of The Purge once the ten episodes have finished.
Sounds promising if it's pretty good viewing.

Yeah I am watchin The Purge. It has been pretty good, some of it is just silly as you would expect but it has been a really good watch and a fair few surprises throughout. You get to know the characters a lot more in this which is helping it to surpass the films.

Good to hear about The Purge, who would have guessed that the 2013's The Purge would start one of the most powerful franchises in entertainment, producing three profitable sequels - The Purge Anarchy, The Purge Election Year, and The First Purge - and now a TV series.

Recently watched The Sinner Season 2 - 2018 (8 episodes).

For me Carrie Coon is the star of The Sinner season 2, she's no doubt the reason to watch the latest installment of this anthology crime series. Whenever she joins a show, it automatically becomes must see TV. The idea of a child killer (played by Elisha Henig who is amazing) is obviously disturbing, but the series is dark, but doesn't revel in that darkness. It tells and shows what it needs to tell and show, and nothing more. Starring Bill Pullman, Carrie Coon, Natalie Paul, Hannah Gross, Elisha Henig and Tracy Letts.

Narcos: Mexico full season now available on Netflix. Follows Kiki Camarena and the Guadalajara cartel. Will probably watch the entire season on Sunday.

Check out the third season of Fargo (it can be watched as a standalone series; no need to watch the first two) if you have not done so already. She's fantastic in that. David Thewlis is excellent too. Probably the best thing on TV last year.

Our World War.
3 stories of 3 different groups of British soldiers in World War 1 based on first hand accounts of those who were there. A lot of drama documentaries are poorly done but this is brilliant,my only gripe is the modern music which is out of place. 9/10.

Finished Narcos: Mexico. A good addition to the series and well worth a watch if you enjoyed the Colombia set seasons. There's plenty of drama and action but overall it is clearly an introduction season and you get the feeling it's going to step it up a notch in the next season. Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo kept a much lower profile than Pablo Escobar so it was always going to take that direction but he's played brilliantly by Diego Luna and surrounded by enough mental cases to even it out.

Watched the first 2 episodes of series 3 of The Last Kingdom it's still well worth a watch. The first 2 series were on The BBC but this one is on Netflix,i imagine The BBC decided not to fund it to spend the money on reality shit instead.

Origin on You Tube Originals is arguably one of the most well structured science fiction series I've seen for many a moon. Its premise is basically the promise from an organization known as Siren of settling on a fresh Utopia called Thea with an opportunity to be free from past transgressions however heinous ,unfortunately this transition is far from seamless as our expectant travelers are jettisoned from their sleep pod and blasted out of blissful slumber 9 days away from the promised land and pitched head first into a battle for survival against a baleful alien with a penchant for embedding itself into the brain of their fellow travelers, thus dictating proceedings in a rather injurious manner, throw in the added complication the ship is pernicious enough in presenting its own problems and its a trip fraught with peril.

Finished series 3 of The Last Kingdom and loved it! Netflix have done a much better job than The BBC did with it with a lot more gore and brutal battles the one in the final episode was stunning. 8.8/10.

Really enjoyed The Haunting of Hill House. Whilst not ground-breaking it was really well put together. I imagine it'd retain some rewatch value as well, because there's so many little details going on that you could miss.

Started to watch Designated Survivor on Netflix. It has Keither Sutherland in it who ends up being forced into being the President of America, despite clearly not knowing how to do it and having no desire to do so.

Really enjoying it so far. It isn't new as such but it is really good to watch.

Been binge watching Oz over the last few weeks. On the last episode of season 5. It's been called the beginning of the (latest) golden age of TV and I can see why. It may not be as must watch or as well written and acted as the likes of The Wire or The Sopranos which shortly followed, but it definitely paved the way with its brutal content.

First few seasons are very good but it's beginning to taper off in quality.

Fair summary that, very entertaining show.

What the fuck is that musical episode?

I loved the first three seasons but personally, this is my favourite season so far.

Vikings Series 5 Part 2. Still a brilliant watch but Ivar gets more annoying with his tantrums with every episode.

Recently watched A Discovery of Witches Season 1 (2018)

It was a good first season, a bit of a surprise packet for me, I went into it with low expectations expecting something bad but thankfully it was not, I quite enjoyed this one. Budget, sets and effects are fantastic not to mention the actors. And Sky TV believes so much in its supernatural drama series that they have handed out a second and third season order.

Starring Matthew Goode, Teresa Palmer, Alex Kingston, Valerie Pettiford and Owen Teale.

Watched it almost in one take. Very good.

Watching Sunderland Till I Die but am struggling to get into it. Don't think it's particularly good television.

Recently finished watching Season 1 of The Purge TV series.

I think The Purge works i quite enjoyed the 10 episodes. I think it works so well as it gives you the time to get to know the characters and actually feel curious in what happens to them. There are an abundance of stories that can still be told. I think as long as they keep it small and continue to develop future characters this could really work. Starring Gabriel Chavarria, Jessica Garza, Lili Simmons, Amanda Warren, Colin Woodell and Hannah Anderson.

The Purge will return for Season 2 in 2019.

Totally agree with this. Plus there are more scenes where you think wtf is going to happen. I really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one.

True Detective season 3 oversees a welcome return to the quality of performances we witnessed in the first season with McConaughey and Harrelson.

Mahershala Ali fresh from his acclaim for his tour de force performance in the quite excellent Green Book is brilliant as the ex LRRP turned detective.

8/10 for the first two episodes but I have an inkling those marks will climb with the plot twists that are yet to unfold.

Just finished The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Season 1 (8 episodes) - 10/10

The show is set in the 1950s New York, it follows a housewife who ventures into standup comedy after her marriage falls apart, it's hilarious and the main character (Rachel Brosnahan) is an absolute star and is so charming to go with it. The supporting cast is terrific and the writing is smart with so many of the episodes were just a pleasure to watch. Remarkable show. Starring Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Zegen, Alex Borstein, Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle.

I'm glad to hear It's going to be ongoing for a while.
