I think the vitriol should have been aimed firmly at the owner for nowhere near adequately backing him. Always seemed to be that McCarthy was the brunt of the abuse when he had nowt to work with. You say he spent money in 16/17 but crikey he spent absolutely nothing compared to our 16m+ and yet, we nearly got relegated and you finished above us. You’ve got to be careful what you wish for.

Mixture of stuff really.

The atmosphere at the club has become toxic. The owner didn’t back Neil in summer and a lot of fans feel like there is a total lack of ambition from Hemmings.

Aside from that though, Neil doesn’t know his best team, stuck with a keeper for far too long who was completely out of form, plays his favourites every week (Clarke, Hunts, Barkhuizen) when they’re shite. Also keep changing the system and the players look lost.

Doesn’t help that we lost two of our starting 11 the week before the season started to injury. Had 3 CM’s get a three game ban cos of stupidity (elbow, knee high lunge and a headbutt after the final whistle). Everything is just massively negative at the moment and it’s difficult to see how we can turn it around.

The only positive has been Callum Robinson who deserves better than the rest of the mongs. He’ll be sold in January no doubt.

I also saw Nixon say you’ve been monitoring Ben Davies too, the only defender we have who can defend.

2012/13 - 14th - Having joined the club rock bottom in November with 7 points from 13 games and 5 adrift from safety.
2013/14 - 9th
2014/15 - 6th
2015/16 - 7th
2016/17 - 16th
2017/18 - 12th

Isn’t it funny that out of those 5 seasons you weren’t in any danger and now you’re back in the same position as when he joined the club.

As I’ve said before, if Lee Johnson had been managing you in any of the last few years you’d have been relegated, simple as that. Same would go for a lot of other managers in the division.

I just still think I've seen enough for us to finish top 18 or so. We've finished two games with 10 men, lost our CB for 3 matches, and played good football in parts, whilst nobody has given us a good hounding, and we're unbeaten at home.

I'm not suggesting it's going to be a memorable season, but at this stage I'm not unduly concerned about relegation. It could happen, I just don't think it will.

I don’t think you’ll be okay, neither do most people who predicted that this would happen as soon as you sacked McCarthy. You know the score full well, as do most of your fans, you’re just too stubborn to admit you were/are wrong.

Also, clueless owner? I don’t think that’s the case. We have had assets in recent years that we’ve sold on that we’ve bought on the cheap (Kodjia, Flint) or have come through the academy (Bryan, Reid) and have many assets still at the club. Crowds are up and we’re as well set for a go at this level as we have been for the last 30 odd years. Lansdown may not be perfect but he’s certainly not clueless and we very seldom spend recklessly.

His team demolished yours last time out at Ashton Gate. Just saying. He has some serious faults (ie he's a shit man manager which is why we get these awful runs) but he's an excellent coach and utilizes our youth system well. Top half finish, league cup semi final? Should have done better in the end and I don't particularly rate him but I don't understand how anyone can say that's fucking useless.

I think Ipswich will probably go down to be honest, but we've seen so many times before how that can work in a teams favour.. Norwich, Leicester, Blackburn and this year Sunderland are nailed on to come back. League 1 is awful but if they do find themselves there, a likely season challenging at the top and winning most weeks will bring back the fans and the feel good factor. Then the momentum can carry on. Preston will be alright though I'd gladly be rid of them given their hex over us.

I do worry that if we do go down, that we could end up like a Coventry. Even if we did go down and bounced straight back, it'd still be a shame to lose the record of being one of the longest servants of the top 2 leagues. think there's roughly 10 to have been in there for a good part of 60 years.

The signings have also largely been underwhelming: Bradshaw might well be a decent player but doesn’t offer anything more than Gregory (and Gregory doesn’t score enough himself), Skalak never starts and Murray Wallace does not look like a footballer. Worse than not scoring enough, we’re barely creating anything and have reverted back to the awful, awful hoofball seen in our promotion season.

I don’t want Harris gone, even if he does get us relegated — mainly for sentimental reasons, partly because of his achievements so far and because he’s still young — but you can’t help but get the feeling that we’d be getting a lot more out of this squad with an experienced head at the helm.

I would say be careful what you wish for. Your squad isn’t that great, arguably you played above your ability last year. Same as a lot of teams in this league. Momentum doesn’t last forever but you should have the ability to recover last season’s form. The troubling thing would be that you have changed tactics.

I can’t remember exactly what he’s said but seem to recall reading some of his post match comments in recent weeks and thinking they were a bit uncharacteristic. May have to try and find them incase I’m just imagining it.

I think the problems Harris has had have always been there -- preference for abstract 'Millwall ethos' over long-term football philosophy, reactive approach to tactics and subs, etc. The difference this season is that our ageing non-scoring strikers are a year older and now even more non-scoring and we've been without three key players (Hutchinson, Saville and Marshall), and his deficiencies are now becoming harder and harder to ignore. You can put up with a hoof-first policy if have the players to play fast, exciting football on the counter. But if your sides are slow, ponderous and lack creativity, the dispiriting reality of hoofball becomes harder and harder to ignore.
