It's one of those which probably isn't a penalty but the arm is out so wide you can see what prompted the ref to give it.

Great dive.

I blame all the foreigners in the French women's league.

This ref looks like the Phil Dowd of the women's game, so out of shape.

Poor France. Played so much better, especially in the first half. All the penalties were top class, except the last one which was saved.
Would have loved more of Necib, instead we get Angerer now.

Well I'm excited! France v England on Tuesday is the big one and there are so many good sides who are going to fight it off. Holders Japan will be up against it once again while the favourites will surely be the hosts - Canada - and the US. A repeat of the olympic semi would be grrrrrrrrrreat. Then you have France & Germany in Europe although I reckon neither will be either North American team.
I fully expect England to be shit once again.

Not much improvement from 2 years ago then...
France are eliminated, whilst England still have a chance of progression to the semis :fish:

I feel sorry for France.
But Germany v France was one heck of a match.

Fast. Evenly matched. Great bits of skill.Especially the France goal. And the Germany free kick, the swerve on that ball, over the wall into the net but for a blinding last nano-second dive from the keeper.

Terrific match. It's a shame someone had ro lose.

I'll get back to you on that after the weekend. I don't wish for an England defeat and reckon you have a good chance of beating the hosts who have been poor up until now.

Played our hearts out but you got to take your chances at the highest level. The penalty was generous shall we say and Germany wouldn't have equalised from open play. We were better than the best team in the world. That sends a message to the world! Most people who watched the game from start to finish will applaud France more than Germany who just get the job done and ultimately that's what champions are made of. We should have been 2-0 up before the penalty incident.
We'll win it at home in 4 years no doubt. Proud of the girls.

Was just kidding mate, I doubt we will beat Canada to be honest. France are obviously a lot better than us, as was proved in the group stage, but sometimes you just need that bit of luck.

USA needs to work a lot harder if they want to beat Germany.

Thing is we're actually very good at penalties. I would have fancied us to progress on penalties against any of the 6 other sides still in contention (well Hope Solo may be a tough keeper to knock out on pens) but Germany just have this ruthlessness about them that is very apparent in the women's game as well. I doubt the US' defending will get them past the Germans and reckon it'll be a Germany/Japan final again.
Don't hold a particular grudge against the Germans but I do hope the Japanese win it. Not bitter though. Nah.

I was really impressed by France yesterday. Disappointing for them, but.obviously I loved the result. Hate that Germany plays the US in the semi rather than the final, but I'll be rooting for the dual world champion outcome. Very impressive that both sides have made it to this stage of every WWC!

She is such a poor keeper.Every game iv seen her play she makes at least one mistake.Makes Massimo Taibi look like a world class keeper.

Bardsley is so irritating. She looks on the face of it like a top goalkeeper but throws in a stupid mistake nearly every match. As soon as I saw her dive for that ball, I cringed.
