Don't know where you heard that, we played well, even with a much changed and semi weakened line up in the second half. It was only Grantham though so nothing to get carried away, though they did beat us a season or two ago I think!
I was there watching, that's where I heard it. What players actually performed well? Woodyard, Power, Muldoon and Hawkridge. That's about it.

Pre-season friendlies don't matter a jot anyway, so of course I'm not reading anything into it.

You missed out Caton! Agreed friendlies don't count a jot but seeing as it was the first time they played I thought the signs were encouraging. Would have liked to have seen Marriott and Habergham but at least we have them, Rhead (if he stays) and Waterfall to add to the squad. Woodyard looks a very decent acquisition already.

We narrowly lost 1-0 to Liverpool, but it was an exercise in defence for the most part. 13,500 or so in the ground, and half of them led a red-tinged pitch invasion at full time celebrating beating the mighty Rovers. Cringey.

Oh, and even Klopp was taking the piss out of Mcnulty's weight in his post-match interview!

We've tried to replace our cancelled Forest game three times, and on every occasion the police haven't allowed it!

I've heard we approached Hull and Millwall? If so, I'm not surprised the police didn't fancy it!

Yeah, I assumed one would be Milwall because of the Cowleys contacts there. Perhaps another was a Sheffield United/Wednesday.

We start our preseason in earnest on Wednesday against you guessed it....

Sheffield Wednesday! Offically we only have 8 players though so it will certainly be an interesting night.

We are currently at local side Stoke Gabriel.

However, the only two players that I know in the XI are our manager and assistant, so I don't think we're taking it too seriously.

We've snuck another pre-season friendly in today. Away at Worksop, which passed a pitch inspection (in July!).

Same as last night really i.e. mix of seniors and youths. Trying to get 90 minutes into people over the two games I think.

We beat Worksop 2-0 with a mixture of first-team players and youth teamers.

1-0 up at HT after Hannah scored early, brought the several trialists on for the 2nd half. Trialist in goals saved a pen, but don't know yet if its the ex-Wrexham guy from last week. The Hannah/Bennett partnership already looking good apparently.

Guiseley 1-1 Bradford City
Rankine hit the post, OJ blazed over when well placed before slotting a cool finish into the far corner from a sublime Boyes through ball.
Bradford trialist Tom Hateley? volleyed an equaliser before Billy Clarke rattled the crossbar with a fine, curling left foot strike.
A couple of trialists for us that we can show the door to now for me.
Barnsley next on Tuesday.

We beat Brighouse 8-1 with the first team and a few youth mixed in.

Means nothing, but looks infinitely better than last year apparently.

Lost 3-1 at Gosport, with a side of signed on players and a load of triallists so can't read anything into it. One thing we did find though, we have Iffy Allen trying out, and he looked pretty decent, very lively with a couple of tricks. Surprised Torquay let him go, wouldn't mind us signing him.

Nice goal from Kane apparently, big season ahead for him, really think he might shine up front this year.

Seems like our trialists were this lot below. Hassall was a bit of a local news story when Leicester snapped him up from Airbus a few years ago. After scoring seems like Ryan Edwards is of most interest though.

Ryan Edwards - Ex TNS
Wade Joyce - Ex Stockport
Aaron Hassall - Chester lad, Blacon, released from Leicester
Joe Heath - Ex us! & Hereford
Rakim Newton - Ex Wrexham

Make sure you take a helmet with you for the descent into the ground, those tree branches sure are sharp........

We drew 1-1 at Stratford yesterday with 2 different eleven's playing 45 minutes each and a handful of trialists involved, including Jordan Murphy who we had on loan from Walsall last season and actually scored the winner in our first win of the season against Woking. Both goals yesterday came from penalties.

We didn't release him as such, think he made it clear he didn't wish to stay so we didn't offer him anything. Would have loved to keep him on.

So Yakubu turned out for Boreham Wood yesterday. What the fuck is all that about?

We played our first friendly yesterday and lost to Olhanense of the Portuguese second tier. We were supposed to be playing Bury apparently but it didn't turn out, tried to arrange friendlies with a few others but just Olhanense were available it seems!

We kick off in England away to Deal Town next Saturday. Oh the joys.
