Curzon Ashton 1 Darlington 1
Crap weather down at Curzon grey and dull and pissing it down most of the day i got absolutely soaking wet and to top it all off the officials were crap as well. But hey, what a great game of footy considering the conditions with both clubs looking dangerous in each other's half's. Once again chance after chance went begging and both teams should have had more than one goal apiece which proved costly at the final whistle.
I was somewhat surprised the scoreline stayed 0:0 at half-time, I thought Curzon should have had two goals before the interval one of their player's missed an absolute sitter. We had a good shout for a penalty when Trotman went down, and Curzon's keeper pulled off a wonderful save from Elliot who had a fantastic game.
It was a familiar story in the second half, only this time within minutes disaster struck as our defense were having a catnap and were punished. In fact within 20 minutes could have got worse with the ball bouncing off Smith over the crossbar, and then Ainge going down in the penalty area in which the referee seemed oblivious as he was clearly injured (shocking refereeing).
After this we gained confidence and took control of the game with Henshall (who had a decent game) and Kokolo coming on and shoving Ainge up top, and then came the deservedly equalizer from Elliot (soaking wet happy day's) which was a magic strike. Saunders once again had some great chances, and he should have scored towards the end when he just had the keeper to beat, couldn't believe he missed
Strange lino, especially when the Curzon keeper had hold of the ball over the line, we were stood behind him screaming, looked a deffo corner? Our fans were even ball boys a couple of times.
In the end both sides worked hard a draw was a fair result. Appalling weather and another satisfactory point gained with a decent following of Darlo fan's
