Curzon Ashton 1 Darlington 1

Crap weather down at Curzon grey and dull and pissing it down most of the day i got absolutely soaking wet and to top it all off the officials were crap as well. But hey, what a great game of footy considering the conditions with both clubs looking dangerous in each other's half's. Once again chance after chance went begging and both teams should have had more than one goal apiece which proved costly at the final whistle.

I was somewhat surprised the scoreline stayed 0:0 at half-time, I thought Curzon should have had two goals before the interval one of their player's missed an absolute sitter. We had a good shout for a penalty when Trotman went down, and Curzon's keeper pulled off a wonderful save from Elliot who had a fantastic game.

It was a familiar story in the second half, only this time within minutes disaster struck as our defense were having a catnap and were punished. In fact within 20 minutes could have got worse with the ball bouncing off Smith over the crossbar, and then Ainge going down in the penalty area in which the referee seemed oblivious as he was clearly injured (shocking refereeing).

After this we gained confidence and took control of the game with Henshall (who had a decent game) and Kokolo coming on and shoving Ainge up top, and then came the deservedly equalizer from Elliot (soaking wet happy day's) which was a magic strike. Saunders once again had some great chances, and he should have scored towards the end when he just had the keeper to beat, couldn't believe he missed :ffs:

Strange lino, especially when the Curzon keeper had hold of the ball over the line, we were stood behind him screaming, looked a deffo corner? Our fans were even ball boys a couple of times.

In the end both sides worked hard a draw was a fair result. Appalling weather and another satisfactory point gained with a decent following of Darlo fan's

Thank fook for a two week break.

Dudley and Asante both warming up on the pitch beforehand today, they should both be back for the next game which should make the world of difference.

Tired of watching a spirited performance one week to watching 3 abject performances for the rest of the month. We had no gameplan yesterday just pass round our defence and midfield get nowhere and hit a hopeful ball up to Ironside.

No disrespect to Alfreton but they weren't good. Didn't create much just took their goal from one corner. We were just worse. Alfreton didn't have to put up a spirited defensive performance to keep us out all they had to do was keep their shape as we showed no urgency to create any space.

Declan Weeks, Russ Penn and Ashley Chambers aren't up to it. Weeks is a shadow of the player he was last season. Penn's legs have gone and God knows whats happened to Chambers, can't trap the ball, can't pass and can't shoot.

Want this season to be over now so we can start again next season.

EDIT We also need a manager ASAP. Someone who can get a bit of desire from the players.

He's gone back to Fylde last week. Had a 10 game spell where he looked amazing last season but bar that he's done nothing but score a hat trick against Atherstone in the cup
I thought you bought him back off them?

Our 'big' signing of Carl Baker this week - a 36 year old from Nuneaton - left me unimpressed... then I saw him play! Was the best player on the park - nimble, quick, clever & a class above. For the first time all season we were clinical yesterday. A run of easier fixtures have allowed us to push back up the table, so who knows how it will all pan out. Funny season - only 3 weeks ago or so Bradford PA were top, and 6 weeks ago Stockport were below us and lucky to scrap a draw - but Chorley just look that little bit tougher than anyone else.

Wether this has legs or not I am not sure but apparently there is a new Investor in Alfreton.

Multi Millionaire Hector Rodriguez owner of Online Gaming,Call of Duty Clan Optic Gaming has been showing an interest in our results recently.

In the below Podcast ( on 52 minutes) he seems to confirm.

He says " I have invested in a Third Division Soccer Team near London ( :shut:) Alfreton Town FC!

We've still got a strong affection for Baker up here! I remember him being a class above during his time for us, and that's when we were in the 3rd tier. He should've gone on to better things but had bad luck with injuries/moves. Absolutely lovely feller, too.

And yes, County were poor for that game (it was 10 weeks tbf) and I remember saying we wouldn't go anywhere if the team kept putting out those performances. But we have been absolutely solid since then.

Doesn't that ring some alarm bells? I'd rather have Mr Dickpic from Notts invest in us than someone who literally has no idea what he's involved in

Great win for Leamington on Saturday! 3-0 up at half-time. Slightly harsh on Altrincham I think. Although they weren't great throughout the afternoon, they started the game brightly and looked liked they'd score an early goal. Their start gave you the impression it would be a long afternoon from a Leamington perspective. First win for a while for Brakes - needed it!

Mark Yates appointed as Kidderminster Harriers manager until the end of the season. Think Saturday was a good time to play Kiddy although I am not suprised they have taken action.

Was badly needed. Mark Yates football won't be pretty but Saturday's wasn't either. Hopefully, Yates has a Solihull affect rather than a Macclesfield affect. Time will tell.

Today we've signed Matt urwin permanently from Fleetwood. Over the moon with this as he has been one of if not the best keepers over the last 2 seasons. Statement signing

How on earth do Curzon survive on crowds of 200 or less?

Attendance on Saturday was 394 and at least 200 of that was Darlington fans. Crazy.

He's a very good goalkeeper that will give the defense a morale-boosting for the final assault as you head further into the latter stages of the season.

What will Spennymoor Town do when if? and when? Brad Groves pulls the rug from underneath them on gates off (544) and upset their stability? He took over in July 2009 and has funded this development with a seven-figure personal investment.

With top scorer Glenn Taylor now committing his future to Moors until 2021. What a sweetener he must have been offered to stay at the club.

because of the set-up around the ground, them mass of 3G pitches makes them more money than any gates do.

On top of that, them like Ashton have location as good to nab part-time players who don’t use football as their main income..........lots more opportunities in Manchester to elsewhere.

Thirdly bloody smart management, Flanagan knew his budget and worked to it, found a style stuck with it and constantly searched for cheap players to fit into it.......so when players moved on a suitable replacement was there within budget...........I was told it was budget frustrations finally led to him going, too sick of losing sand replacing but it’s what the new guy also needs to smartly do.

Curzon, Ashton and Leamington do well to compete this level, but it is more this level has grown than they rose too high

Just over 500 home fans haha! Absolutely shambolic that.
Nothing wrong with 500 home fans.... it's a small town after all (I think).
It is the size of the big clubs that have fallen on harder times that distorts the expectations some people have about realistic attendances for 'old-fashioned proper dog & duck' non-league teams.
