Dean Keates on a deal till the end of next season. Not even the end of this season. Wrexham just won't learn their lesson.

I haven't even looked on RP hut I imagine it's in uproar.

On Facebook it seems a bit more upbeat. I would have preferred someone else but I think he'll l sort us out, it just means a return to ultra defensive one nil wins. Better than getting shafted by tinpotters every week I guess.

Meh.

He did well last time and at least we know he won't be poached if he does well this time. We are in for some unbelievably boring football but we will soon be climbing the table.

I know Ebbsfleet aren't spending the money they once was, but surely after only 2 wins in 16 games Garry Hills job must be on the line??

Hignett and assistant Ged Mcnamee sacked.

Not a fan of this TBH, we're four points off the playoffs, we've had a middling start to the season but I think this is a big gamble.

How on earth did he get sacked and Challinor and Sheridan are still in their jobs?

Hignett just isn’t a manager. Obvious he wouldn’t make Christmas.

On that Gaffer TV programme Hignett came across as a nice bloke but utterly clueless.

Bizarre sacking by both clubs Hartlepool are not doing too bad and Ebbsfleet won’t get any better for the shambles they are.

It is a gamble but ultimately it’s probably a decision that would’ve been made in a couple of months. As much as I didn’t think he was up to the job, he did a lot to stop us going under and genuinely cared so I wish him all the best.

Premature maybe but not bizarre. We’ve finished 16th the last two seasons and on course for that kind of mediocrity again. Difference this time though is he was given free reign in the summer and has made poor decisions on recruitment. Signing 900 midfielders and not giving Loach a better deal is a howler. He worked on a formation all pre season then tore it up after 2 minutes. He just wasn’t getting it right. He’d be more suited to coaching (not managing) at a higher level - he knows how to get teams retaining and passing the ball well enough but that kind of philosophy doesn’t work down here. He doesn’t learn from his tactical errors and can’t organise a defence. We’ve seen that in his two spells now.

He can point to bad luck, we’ve had tons of decisions go against us. So in that way I’d have waited til Christmas. Individual errors have also cost us hugely this season but then again he signed the biggest culprits.

Not sure who I want in. If Challinor became available I’d take him in a flash.

Rat face Martin Gray will be sniffing around, I might stop going if we appoint him, people want Watson from York but that is unrealistic, no clue who we’ll appoint, Ben Clark maybe, very little experience but did very well with a dozen players at Gateshead.

Hartlepools problem now is no more parachute payments.

And being outspent by the likes of Solihull doesn't help. Nor does only 2 up which all the ex league clubs here voted for before they got shat out of the league

I think he'd send his players to sleep if the team talk he gave on that programme was anything to go by.

Hignett's on the after dinner speech circuit at the minute and is around Lincoln/Scunthorpe soon.

The two up, two down thing always crops up but do people actually think the quality in the league is there to warrant more than that? I'm obviously three or four years out the loop but it wasn't even there through the league when we got promoted and I can't think of too many years previously, if any, where you'd look at the league and think it warranted it.

Surely it's the job of the coach to organise a defence. It seemed to be that Ged was the defensive coach of the duo, and Hignett the attacking.

Hignett signed Raynes, and I doubt there was anyone who said this was a bad signing at the time, but he has been horrific. Single handedly responsible for far too many goals this season.

He's been incredibly unlucky with injuries. Should've been allowed to get Molyneux back at the least for me.

He made some horrendous decisions with subs etc. He was by no means a great manager, but for the first time in years we started to have an identity on how we play. We are now just going to get another manager who doesn't want some of the players, doesn't want to play in the same way etc.

It is a bizzare decision for me - but it's done now

Welcome back by the way

I actually think Fraser Kerr is the worst of the two. He’s been really poor and never looked comfortable for us. I questioned the Raynes signing coz of his injury record but he’s the only one who has any leadership qualities.

As for Higgy yeah he imposed a style on us but we don’t have the players to pull it off consistently and I doubt any tier 5 team would. Like you say his changes and team selections at times were baffling. As for the defensive structure it’s both him and Ged that look at it and obviously wasn’t working properly. I agree I’d have given him til New Year with some of the injured players back but ultimately I don’t think Hignett ball would ever work.

No thanks

Is Askey out of work? Knowing us though we won’t go for one of ‘the names’

Hartlepool wanted Paul Cox until they realised it would cost them £100k. He's free and available now...

They're not doing well enough for Singh, and if things don't seriously take a turn for the better, then he will start counting up the pennies that he has put into the club and wondering if it's all worth it.

He doesn't like throwing money at something for no glory.

The warning signs are there.
