I don't rate Wilson but a better manager/coach should be able to get this squad of players doing much, much better than they are.

Ask any oppo fan on here and they'll tell you we have one of the best squads on paper in the league.

A lot of it is at Rusk's door IMO. Wilson obviously at fault for sacking Jim and appointing him. And there are also issues with his strategy in signings, very scattergun and not measured.

But a lot of managers would love to work with this squad.
Your right about his signings, But i think 1 or 2 should also have been shipped out.

I remember when you played us at our place, Jim called out a certain player (without mentioning his name)
But we all know who that was.
Shortly after Jim was gone.
I,m pretty sure Jim with the backing Rusk has recieved, would be doing way better than Rusk.

Look ay Ardly at Solly, Doing a preety good job, Cause he knows the league. Parkinson will struggle.

We were going nowhere till we got in a manager that knows these leagues.

our fixtures up to Christmas are in theory very favourable and should see us rise up the league, but we know we love to fail with teams in the lower half of the table - its the Wrexham way!
I don,t think its so much about failing against so called lower teams.
Those teams will most certainly raise thier game.

Rusk has gone.

All eyes on the replacement now.

If Rusk has been / will be let go imminently, then a potential replacement could be Andy Morrison the ex Connahs Quay manager.

did well with them by all accounts and usurped TNS as the incumbents in recent years. Will be Manchester based too, although will potentially be too big a personality to clash with your chairman/owner

would that go down well with the County massive?
That fat ex gravy stainer? Nahhh

Gravy Stainer= Man City fan/associate

The name comes from the fact that it is a fact that 87.3% of Man City have either Gravy or Egg stains down their replica Man City tops on any given day. Scientists haven't worked out whether they just don't want wash them, or are constantly eating chips and gravy or egg sandwiches and spilling it down their front. I think it's mostly the latter.

Any club that has Mark Mcghee part of it will surely fail. Cannot believe Stockport ever employed him in the first place. Stole a living with us and probably a few other clubs.

That Stockport hotseat is the toughest job in football, can anyone succeed under that sort of pressure?

Who are we realistically looking at here? I think being in the North West might work in their favour. Jim Bentley maybe? Could they tempt Challinor away from Hartlepool? If we were without a manager now I'd be wanting us to splash a bit of compo and get in The Good Phil Parkinson or Wild.

Wild is close mates with Gannon. Not sure on that.

A few reckon Michael Appleton is our first choice. Presume we'll be knocked back from that. We're ambitious and we'll probabaly get a few knock backs. I'm sure we get lots of knock backs on players but we end up with some names people on here go "why he's dropping down from there?". I imagine the manager could be quite similar.

I've genuinley always like Ardley. I liked him at Notts, always came across well, I know the Notts lads on here weren't so keen but I don't think Burchnall has improved them. I don't think he'll be on our list but he's on the quiet doing OK with Solihull and we could get him easy IMO.

£750k buy-out in his contract as well.

Someone on our board reckons that is our owners choice but he turned us down a few weeks back and signed a new contract.

Stott's the kind of bloke who will ring again though.

Does Gannon not like it when other people manage Stockport?

Can't see Appleton dropping down, he's one of the better managers in L1 and seems like he has ambitions to go higher.

Well they didn't treat Gannon well so it's more that angle

Doing a good job at Halifax but I don't really warm to him at all.

The guy who left Newport recently also a name mentioned.

I’m not even saying this is in a salty way but I can’t see Wild going to Stockport. He thrives off the underdog story and always talks about only wanting to work with good characters. I’d imagine there’s some big characters at Stockport and I doubt he’d want the outside influence from the higher ups.

You put a buyout clause on your manager? it's a good idea tbf if he's a good manager, just never heard of that before

The rumour is he turned us down like I say.

We do have back to the North West, money and quite a lot ambition to try and tempt him though.

But he's not gone for it. Hartlepool fans will understandably think he's 100% made the right call.

Mike Flynn. Would be interesting to see what he'd do with a top budget in a division as Newport have usually been way down that pecking order in L2 while he's been there. His Newport team were always tough to play against, reckon he'd do alright for you.

He's always wanted to make a name for himself in the FL and why squander that for a bit more cash and looking silly if it goes tits up which is likely looking at the table? He's absolutely hero worshipped here and he loves that. God like status.

Besides I doubt he'd have signed a new deal without assurances budget wise. We are doing much better than we expected both on and off the pitch so I'm fairly confident he'll have more funds at his disposal in Jan.

I've obviously not seen too much of Stockport and I've mentioned this before, albeit perhaps an unfair comparison, but the difference between Stockport and Notts last season when they played each other was quite stark given both managers took over at similar times.

It looked like Rusk was trying to implement U23 type football and it looked very rigid and precise whereas Notts looked really well coached in that game.

Ardley’s a good manager, said as soon as he went to Solihull that they’d get play-offs. I don’t really have a bad word to say about him apart from the odd tactical complaint you’re always going to have.

He’s too cautious to get a team automatic promotion, though, too many draws and points dropped in ‘games you should win’. I don’t think a Notts or Stockport in this league is the right job for him.

In terms of results there’s not anything between him and Burchnall, but the reason NA went will be because he wasn’t developing our ‘assets’ and ultimately that’s what Notts are mostly about now. Rodrigues is the obvious example, couldn’t get a game under NA but turned into a guaranteed big money sale under Burchnall. NA is mistrusting of youth and flair for the most part and that was never going to work with what our board wants.
