Bolton away tomorrow. Gutted to miss this but booked my hols thinking Bolton would go the same way as Bury and I’d have a free weekend.
3rd meeting between the sides this season. I only saw the league cup match where we won 5-2. Since then they’ve strengthened and seem to be harder to score against so I don’t fancy another easy game. I still fancy us to nick a tight win, 0-1 or 1-2, which would put some daylight between us and the bottom 3.

I wish I shared your optimism. Whilst Hendo is in the team, we are always capable of winning, but I have an awful feeling that, like Wimbledon, Bolton might break their duck against us..... it's just what we seem to do.

They might - but we ought to have a far stronger back four available than at Kings meadow.

Very tough game against Rotherham tomorrow.

Would take a point now if offered.

Very tough game against Rotherham tomorrow.

Would take a point now if offered.

A draw would probably be a decent result for both sides.

I have no idea how it will go, we haven't really put a strong 90 odd minutes in so far this season, even in the 4 0 against Coventry we went off the boil in the last 25 minutes.

At least now we seem to have settled on last year's formation with Smithy back in up front and Crookes playing just behind him.

We have an excellent young goalkeeper, decent defence, strong direct wingers in Hastie and Ogbene and good midfielders in Wiles and Lindsay so I have no problem with the quality of the team, it's just consistency we are lacking.

Let's hope we get a good game, and for once a decent referee who doesn't make it all about him.
Safe travel to all the visiting fans.

Watched the game on ifollow tonight. Was actually a good game. We was very good for first half an hour Tranmere come back into it. Second half was mainly Tranmere but we had a few chances to win. Really we have to be disappointed because we had chances to win but a draw fair result considering Tranmere only actually mustered one shot on target which was the pen

Southend were much the better team in the first half and seemed to have a stranglehold in midfield. More even and certainly a better showing from Rovers second half, but didn’t look like scoring and the visitors had a few chances to kill the game off. Draw was fair result.

I thought it was our poorest performance of the season tonight, with injuries finally catching up with us in a major way. We had to use an injured David Perkins in a midfield two, the other half of which (Neil Danns) had only just got off a flight from the Caribbean. We also had youngsters up front and out wide who are not really ready to start games at the moment.

We were disjointed throughout and Southend will feel disappointed not to have won given the chances they missed. However, we kept battling and dug something out of the game and I think we are capable of staying up this season.

We’ve had plenty of decent 90mins but we’re suffering a small injury crisis at the moment.

We have struggled against teams that can high-press for 90mins. If you allow us to play out from the back we’ll probably get something from the game. We’re also getting goals from all over the park with our top scorers being midfielders/wingers.

Fosu (11), Henry (17) or Brannagan (8) are our players to watch. Most likely set up 433.

Hard to know what to say about that, we looked like a very disjointed side with an absent midfield. Injuries mostly to blame and Perkins really looked off the pace. A point gained, relieved not to have lost, but we need some players back quickly or looks like we'll struggle to make any progress in the league.

You'd not be happy if you're a Shrews fan who travelled over here on a Friday night and your manager goes 5-4-1 in damage limitation mode for most of the game (even if he'll pass it off as 3-5-2 come 3-5-1-1) as though they were playing Man City. Not that it was too much of a surprise, Ricketts had the same 'do not lose' mindset at Wrexham as he did tonight. It'd bore me to tears being as negative as that. Not a wonder they hardly score.

Too many not quite at it tonight for us. Subs didn't make an impact and the flair players not looking after the ball well enough either. Shrewsbury defended well and were organised but didn't commit bodies forward anyway until after the sending off and tried to steal the win so in that respect it was difficult to get though them.

From only one viewing, I'd be surprised if we didn't appeal Bolger's red card. He's put his arm across him but given that their guy was about 2 foot shorter than Bolger, his elbow did go into his face but it wasn't a swing it looked more of a natural 'easing' him out that you see 5 or 6 times a game when a ball is played into the channel.

EDIT - It was also just a shite 0-0 game. Nothing really happened. I'd be amazed if there were more than 6 or 7 shots in the game.

Yesss!! Managed to just get an incredibly tough 3 points off the Millers & push into the playoffs.
Very very happy with that.

Followed on social media but sounded like an end to end, full blooded game.

Delighted that my gut feeling was wrong. Awful first half by both teams; then Bolton went ahead somewhat against the run of play, but then just folded, and gifted us the points.

Some poor poor tactics from Hilly, especially having a small player up against Wilbraham, which probably cost them the game.

Won't be long before someone shouts something at him and he goes off on a rant.

Up to the dizzy heights of 14th now...

Chuffing brilliant result today. We could have and arguably should have had four. How the devil the volley from three yards out in acres of space wasn’t converted... In fairness the Rotherham’s Daniel Iverson looks like a proper keeper with the physical attributes to play Premier League football. He looks like he has a great future.

Rotherham pinned us in during the first 15 minutes. We looked unable to cope. Beyond that, we looked more threatening barring the occasional offensive attack by Rotherham. Robinson has sensibly set us up to absorb pressure, give up possession and counter attack with Fosu, Henry and Cadden the main focal points of attack.

I must say I was astounded at how you guys simply collapsed after our second goal. It was as if you just gave up. The game was still very much a contest had Rotherham attempted to press us. You can see they’re a good side however.

Fully deserved 3 points today but as with the Blackpool and Portsmouth games if we had a striker we would have had 5 or more

Absolute fraud of a player. Don't remind me how much Robins has spent in the last 2 seasons.
Completely done with this season already. Away games full of pricks and home games in Birmingham. Can't be arsed to trek over once my 6 match package is done.

Played really well vs Peterborough, a point wouldn't have been undeserved.

I think there was 1 (lame) shot on target and zero corners in the first half. As bad a game, from both sides, as I've seen in a while. Crab football at its finest, with a dose of dog shit.

Jackett Out.

How did you lose that? Battered us for most of the match. Very much a smash and grab, no way did we deserve the win but I'll happily take it.

A couple of my mates were musing about the possiblity of an unwelcome hattrick of sendings off for Marquis against us. He got two yellows playing for Leyton Orient and got a straight red (I think) last season. Not to be though as he was subbed.

Excellent result by Fleetwood yesterday, first half was nip and tuck by both sides and Burton contributed a lot of good football. Second half Cods upped their game but as so often happens in matches bad decisions can change the outcome. In the build up to the second goal there was a blatant foul by Fleetwood on a Burton player, we all saw it, nothing was given and Madden was on hand to sweep in a superb cross.Great hat trick by the Irishman, what a wonderful professional the guy is
A word on Nigel Clough, what a moaning whinging little toad he was, never stopped harrassing the 4th official , by contrast Joey Barton was a paragon of virtue .......now that will come back and bite me on the arse big time !!

Fair play to them for getting a 2 minute highlight package out of it!

Firstly, lovely result.

How were the 2 separate minute applauses' observed for the young Rotherham fan and for Womble? RadOx seemed to suggest they were well observed but I wasn't listening at the time.

I think it needs to be highlighted about the positive side of football supporters as well after what appear to be the nasty events at Haringey (I only qualify it as it is still technically an allegation).

Thought we'd lose this one. Not won since 2015 on tv, before that once since 2012 I think. Not won in 21 after internationals now

Really quite shocking today. Dobra was a shining light until his dismissal.

Sky curse continues. I won't lose too much sleep over it.

Fair play to AS, they look like they have enough to stay up with a little to spare.

Agreed. Pretty poor effort but nothing to lose sleep over. Quite telling that Nsiala's first game is our first loss.
