We understand what you're saying, djs. However, it's still an interesting statistic if you take into account that we are at the stage in the season where most teams have played each other once, and thus the league table is a fair reflection on who the strongest teams are. So it's perfectly reasonable to analyse a single team's performances against the best teams in the division at this point in time.

So the good news is that Luton are clearly vying with Sunderland as the second best team in League One. League position doesn't lie. What the interesting stat shows us is that maybe Luton are fantastic at putting away weaker teams, but sometimes struggle to break down the better teams. It's not a criticism, just an observation.

This may well turn out to be a bit skewed as Luton had a tough start, fixture-wise, and so had to play many of the better teams when they were just finding their feet.

Anyway, Luton are on a fantastic run and may carry on sweeping all before them in the second half of the season which will make a complete mockery of the above.
I think this is fair enough. Out of the other 8, we have played 6 away from home too, many of which were in that period when we hadn’t quite adjusted away from home.

Bobbin', I'm anticipating Sunderland getting 4 points from their two games in hand, based on their points-per-game average.

Bang. Nail. Head. One swing. Well said K Win.

I can't wait for Januarys back to back run of Barnsley, Sheff Weds, Sunderland and then Peterboro to see what we really have. Bring it on.

Correction, Mr Joseph Barton was shown a red card after a dug out melee..........
Ched Evans red card was today removed after appeal, I watched the 'incident' against Bristol Rovers and we see this upteen times a season the Evans fell over the guy, no more no less. Frankly I am disgusted that a shite ref clearly cost us this game, no wonder Barton lost his rag, I would have gone b....mad at this !

Disappointing Loovens costing us a result on saturday but there is still half the season left. Could be a massive January as a lot of the top teams face each other and players could come or go. Been impressed with Pompeys resilience and results and Luton and Charltons form. Massive couple of home games coming up for us against Bradford and Shrewsbury so 6 points is a must if we want automatics. Going to be ups and downs for everyone for the rest of the season but i’ll finish by saying Merry Christmas everyone, lets get the beers out.

You can count yourselves lucky tbh that Evans didn’t get a red card in the first half tbh. He elbowed our player in the face once and tackled from behind without getting the ball twice and somehow didn’t get a yellow for any of those.

For me, it was justice. I personally think you’re lucky to have him now back after his performance

Ok Mate I was'nt there. I always say these things even out like penalties not given when they were nailed on and vica versa, if he scores tomorrow that will be icing on the cake eh !
Enjoy your Christmas Day

Yeah fair enough, either way it’s nice to get a slice of luck for once when you’re in relegation

Merry Christmas!

Lots of Posh fans expecting to get battered this afternoon. If it's because of the 4 nil in October, that was literally the best we've played this season and we've not come close since, plus their away record is superb. I expect it to be like the majority of our home games, tight. Real 6 pointer this, followed by two more 6 pointers vs Charlton and Luton.

Once again can’t fill the bench due to injuries, still having to play two non leaguers in the team.

4-0 loss today.

Nathan Thompson does his hammy with all our subs used. Bloody nightmare of a game this

edit: Yeah what a shitshow, one of those games where absolutely everything went wrong. Classic us to go from the best result of the season against Sunderland to one of the worst! Striking reinforcements needed in January, Hawkins does everything but score currently and it's beginning to hurt us. Bah humbug

Hopefully you'll be losing at full time too ;)

Lamby's a witch.

Anyone know Pompey’s record against the bottom third?

Better than yours against the Top 9, amirite?

To actually answer your question, Gillingham are the only team in the current bottom third we haven't beaten this season in the league. Bogey team.

edit: Forgot to include Shrewsbury who we drew against. Record ruined

No evidence of that sadly, NCBA are well worth their HT lead.

3 wins over Pompey in 3 League games this calendar year.

Portsmouth are our bitches.

On the game, we got murdered possession wise, but of their 20 odd shots there were only a couple of decent efforts amongst them. We pressed pretty well, and dealt with their giraffe up front apart from one moment where he really should've scored but headed wide. First goal was a neat bit of play finished off with an excellent Parker header from an equally excellent ball in from Elliot List. From my vantage point the penalty was MAYBE a bit soft but no-one seemed to argue and Reilly stuck it away well - great run once more from List to win it in the first place though.

2nd time I've seen Pompey this season and I assume they must be far better when they don't play us, especially their star players. Don't think Curtis or Lowe has produced anything of any note in either game, while I think their (in my opinion) best player Thompson was well handled by our midfield for the majority. They definitely need a new forward in the window though - Hawkins is big, awkward, and wayward, while Pitman isn't getting any younger. Eaves would definitely have scored the chance that Hawkins put wide in the second half for example.

Anyway, a good 3 points, and on to another tough game against Donny on Saturday!

Didn’t sound vintage for us today and didn’t seem to have the control we normally do but got the job done. Just ridiculous form we are on at the moment, it’s quite something almost pinching myself about things at the minute really.

Quite pleasing to win and not play great, shows a resilience and makes you think we might have the staying power to continue to compete. We shall see but great times at the moment

That’s a sickner, blatant pen and a goal not given after crossing the line, add that to the handball Maja scored at VP, fuck off.
