Well we were phenomenally shite today.

Well done Neil Young. Best manager in our short history.

Unlike Darlington we know we are a phoenix club.

I'm not saying this to create a divide between great old clubs like Chester, Halifax, Hereford and Darlo. Or for any sort of one up manship or anything like that.

Because I don't care that you went bust and started again, as you're the same great 92er for me. You can take the club out of the 92, but you can't take the 92 out of the club.

But the simple fact is that Darlington didn't go bust and start again. And that's the only reason I mention it when we're lumped in with phoenix clubs.

Are Chorley going to do a Hyde / Alty / North Ferriby?

Are Alty going to do a Chorley?

We beat Curzon Ashton 2-1 last night. First win against them at the Deva in 4 attempts.

Yeah, last night certainly made Saturday’s result and performance all the more baffling, poles apart.

The only things annoying me at the moment are that we can’t keep a clean sheet or properly finish teams off. We hammered Curzon performance wise but ended up making much harder work of it than necessary.

Is he not up to much?

Not a bad target man, never shy of putting a shift in, and seems a really decent bloke too as shown by the amount of community work he did for us. He's scored 36 goals for us in (I think) 121 appearances (and that includes County Cups etc), so he's hardly prolific. I wish him well, and hope we've rinsed you a a fee that he isn't worth.

Well with what you already have in Hulme why would you want a striker that doesn't score, he holds the ball up reasonably well and is big but it will be the ex Morecambe background with Bentley I assume that is the reason for signing him. You paid a hefty fee if what I heard is correct, and he eont be cheap wage wise either.

Spot on with the Bentley background played 65 games for Morecambe under his management.

What’s up with Willoughby how the hell does he not get a game?

I really want kurt to do well and I think there is a good player there but he can’t hit a barn door for us. In fact I’ve seen him play well once since he’s been here. Needs to improve

The fee doesn’t really make a difference after what Stockport paid for Williams. Our big earners have all gone. Croasdale’s £950 a week has gone. Walker has gone. We’ve been cherry picked and I’m surprised at how well we’ve started the season tbh

Seeing as though you know what everyone is earning, what's your highest paid player on now, then?

our top earner last year was on a grand and he’s gone. No idea this year tbh. Our budget has been slashed though I know that. Our 3 best players and top earners from last season are gone

Alfreton are finally back in action away at AFC Telford tomorrow after 3 weeks. Feels like we are starting the season all over again tomorrow! Another tough game in prospect. Hopefully we can squeak a win before a massive test against AFC Fylde on Tuesday night. Be interesting to the see the impact of the 3 week break on us.

Blyth at home for us today. Should be a win but these are the sort of games we mess up with.

Telford will be tough. Got some very good players there this season.

Our record away at Curzon Ashton has been horrible for the most part. But a very commanding performance and 3-0 win today. Should have perhaps added a couple more goals too. Campbell being back fit is a huge plus. Great to see Maguire coming off the bench second half to make his first appearance, and with Hatfield still to come back from a hamstring strain we can still get stronger. Also a very positive debut for Enrico Sousa.

Now let's see what Borris is going to do now. Will we be playing Swindon on Saturday?

Very dull game against Blyth. We didn't look like we got out of second gear really. We'd have definitely lost or drawn that game a year ago. If I was a Blyth fan I'd be worried. They had 1 chance really and that was a very late header which hit the bar.

Hemmings back on the scoresheet, him and Omari Sterling will be key for us. And a first professional goal for Max Taylor.

If we want to be up there we'll need to play better but I'm not gonna complain about 3 wins in a row and a 2nd clean sheet in a row.

Equalised a few minutes before the end and then conceded literally straight from the kick-off. :hb:

Draw would have been the correct result but ah well, did well enough.

Two away games against teams that will be in the shake up lost with very late and undeserved winners.
We don't seem to be very good at either playing against or "parking the bus" ourselves. There cannot be another team in the country that disappoints it's fans with such regularity.
