MK Dons the better team for me. Got in way too much down that left. Looks like a real weak area already. We had plenty of promising moments but we looked sloppy in key areas. Big fan of Kav but he kept messing everything up. Like the look of Sarcevic. Pattison showing why he was a big miss last season. Really happy to come away with three points.

Encouraging first game for County, should have won. Colwill looks class for Cheltenham.

Good away point at a ground we don't often do well at.
Keeper massive upgrade, defence better by some distance than last season.
Still need to sign a striker and would be much happier with Crowley further up the pitch and Jones on the right.
But, we finished strongly and have something to build on.

Very good away performance, very comfortable and we looked a decent side today, miles from last season in terms of fight, edge and professionalism and even the maligned Tom Sang and Jesse Debrah looked very good today.

Positive start especially with the quality we have to come back in Chislett, Stockley, Byers etc. Garrity class as always, really liked Ronan Curtis as well.

Perfect start for us really and should get stronger once some of the other new signings get back in.

Two incredibly poor sides at Holker Street today. Both keepers barely tested yet we conceded a scrappy goal and then decided to pass the ball sideways and backwards and hoof it diagonally for the rest of the game.

Lankester and Hemmings were terrible. The entire midfield a disgrace that barely got into the game. Why we gave Conor Thomas a 2 year deal I'll never know. He's finished and has been for over a year.

Our rut from that game where we imploded vs Morecambe looks set to continue as we have a genuine fear of shots on target. I appreciate that we're a few players short and have a fair few out injured as well. But Christ that was a hard watch. Some creativity and attacking impetus would be nice.

Keeper massive upgrade, defence better by some distance than last season.

Macari, Platt and Bedeau were all superb. They didn’t exactly have a lot of protection either, just looked so much more physically dominant and composed than the clowns we had last season (caveat - one game I know).

Actually think every new signing looked good apart from Hinchy whose passing was a bit scratchy.

Agree, but it'll be rare that we play a team as proficient with the ball as MK again. Games v MK are always slightly different to the rest of the league. And we did still have our own chances, though admittedly fewer.

We absolutely did ride our luck at times, but you've got to be in it to win it and we got smashed 4-1 there last year. We take it and move on.

Dull as dishwater compared to last season's opening game. I blame keeping eleven men on the field.

I seriously fear for our The Entertainers tag, but a rare clean sheet, a deserved point in the sunshine with great away support.

Defensively assured with impressive debuts from quite a few and especially Bass and Platt, proper keeper proper defender. Makes a change.

Happy with a point nearly stole three, especially with no Palmer and no Robertson. Hinchy looked lightweight.

Hinchy looked to have a bit of potential, but what he is - raw and probably fourth or fifth choice in that position when everyone is fit. I would still like another attacking options but overall came out of it feeling more positive than I did beforehand.

I wouldn't say we were poor, we pretty much nullified Crewe's attacking threat - even when they hit the woodwork it was never going in. After we scored from a corner (that was well whipped in by Mahoney), we didn't at any time look like we wouldn't win.

I doubt it could’ve been much worse than our game at Fleetwood, we should’ve been 2 up after 2 minutes and then absolutely nothing, Fleetwood got their goal and that was it, 2 sides who both gave it away cheaply all throughout the game.
Dreadful watch.

Felt Notts County had enough attacking possession to have won today, their main weakness was a lack of finishing. The no 7 looked good and in the spells when he didn’t drift out of the game, Jones looked menacing.

I felt Adkins made the wrong call by not starting one of the pacier players in the line-up and hope he rethinks that going forward. We tried to play decent football and a point is an upgrade on the last two season openers, which we lost.

Hinchy isn't fully match fit. He was blowing on 55 at Peterborough but looked pretty good to that point.
From the stream I thought Bedeau was just a massive improvement on Cameron defensively.

No 7 Crowley is more effective playing up the pitch but our two first choice holding midfielders are out so he's having to cover.

That's the biggest annoyance today. Play Crowley further forward today and he makes the difference IMO. Still with a weak midfield that's a good performance and point.

Pace will hurt us this season so maybe got away with one.

As predicted, we are shit
Wasn't great but I don't think it's any surprise, we're a work in progress with a fair amount of new players and adopting a system that the existing players weren't using at the end of the season. I'm prepared to be patient and don't expect us to be decent yet.

What was frustrating though was the total and utter lack of urgency. Packed away end making a racket and you're giving them absolutely fuck all. Fleetwood won't get many easier home wins than that all season.

Desperately missed the bite Thompson gives us, we look very susceptible to a bullying which is something that's been a concern throughout the summer looking at our squad.

Think that’s what you call a good away performance from us there. Nothings ever won or lost on the opening day but was certainly encouraged that there seems to be an added nastiness to this Vale team now. Something we lacked last year for definite.

Croasdale for me was outstanding and was a tone setter in the middle. Always seemed to be in the right position. Lots of room for improvement with sharpness in attack but delighted with the three points.

We lost our first game of the season and our season is over.

A perfectly reasoned and well thought out response from the best fans in the league.

Had to stick with the stream (more to follow on that) but I thought we were slightly sloppy in possession. I've never worried too much about first day performances though, as long as we get a decent result I'll take it.

Thought Sky Sports+ was absolutely shite though. Slightly improved picture quality vs iFollow aside, no graphics for substitutions or cards and not even a round up of the scores elsewhere!

The most criminal thing about Sky+ aside from it freezing is the fact the commentators aren’t even at the fucking game!

Nice day out but a bad performance. It felt a bit like we thought it was still pre-season - some reasonable play in possession at times but a total lack of cutting edge. Tabiner wasn't involved at all until we made some changes in the second half and he dropped a bit deeper. I think Sanders will be a good signing but he couldn't find his passing range at all today. Lankester had some nice moments but wasn't involved enough in the final third. I couldn't really see their goal because I was stood behind a big post.

I was at the game today but I watched Barnsley v Stags on Sky+ last night and I found it quite a frustrating experience - it kept freezing.

Really pleased with the win at MK, had that first game/side yet to gel opportunity and managed to take advantage. Continues the theme of last season of going unbeaten at the likes of all three promoted sides, I think that’s 5 wins in the last 6 down there now.
Having quality on the bench felt like a rare novelty too, still expect us to bring 2 or 3 more in but the attacking options and that need to be less reliant on Cook looks miles better.

The first time we have managed four goals in any game for...3.5 YEARS!

4-1 flattered us but the second half performance was a great improvement over the first. Bet that six hour drive home stings tonight, excellent numbers from the Carlisle fans though, to be applauded.

We were absolutely awful, it was probably one of the worst performances I've seen since we got beaten 9:2 by Mansfield. Unless things change it will be our 5th and last season in the league.

We keep the ball and then do nothing with it and every time we try to do something attacking we give it away.
Toilet.
I'm afraid your right mate. Wouldn't read too much into a first game of the season, too many twists and turns too come.
Fleetwood were ok, nothing more nothing less and we can certainly play better
Wiredu was tremendous in midfield, very much light weight up front so hopefully improvements to come
Great support for your team, for all of us, keep the faith

I hardly know what to say after that. Far too easy to score against, powderpuff and generally poor. Pathetic showing.

I expected defeat but not that bad. In shock, but I shouldn’t be. This is a terrible team and it’s not just going to change over night.
