Portsmouth lads, did you ever feel for one moment that your club would go bang and disappear in its current form?
I think we came pretty close in 2001, hours rather than minutes until the fans stepped in and saved us from Darren Brown. Still a bit raw for a few clubs as we still got promoted that season despite the points deduction. But he nearly had us ground sharing at Mansfield so he could build houses on the ground. He did a few years porridge for it, but believe he's out and about now. This EFL / lack of accountability and checks on owners isn't a new thing. Luckily we survived that time around, I do fear for Bury and Bolton though from the outside looking in.Portsmouth lads, did you ever feel for one moment that your club would go bang and disappear in its current form?
I think our fans have considered a similar approach in the last couple of years as the protests grew and we dropped through the leagues. Our debt is unsustainable and we are close to becoming insolvent so I think it is right the fans consider this. The opinion is split massively though, some saying they'd never support a phoenix and others being keen to get it off the ground. If we don;t get back into the FL this season then I can't see anything other than some car crash coming our wayYes, definitely. We've had a few winding-up petitions so you always fear the worst.
I'm by no means an authority on this but I believe that plans were in place for a phoenix club to appear at an appropriate level in the non-league pyramid. It actually became quite appealing for a while as a way to finally rid ourselves of the never-ending parade of chancers and asset strippers orbiting around the club. In the end, the company became so worthless that the supporters trust were able to buy the actual club without needing to start again.
Yes, several court appearances were bigger events than the games! I was told the judge had liquidated the club at one hearing. I'll be honest and admit my guts nearly went.Portsmouth lads, did you ever feel for one moment that your club would go bang and disappear in its current form?
Or it is tilted against Donnie because they may have a load of games at the season when the likely effect on tire legs could be even greater. I think all sorts of teams could say we are getting a worse deal - say Accrington and their lose of significant income could affect what they can do in January - but I am not sure that is a helpful exercise. Several clubs are getting a potentially bum deal, and engaging in a sort of Monty Python sketch as to has it worse is never going to be resolved.League placings might also be affected by teams having a free midweek when their weekend opponents have to play. We play Donny away on Saturday after visiting MK tonight, yet Donny can sit back and relax this week. Last season and our start, might suggest that we might be close together come the end of the season, but Saturdays playing field is slightly tilted against us through no fault of ours or Doncaster.
It was at ours FFS.This match would not have been called off if it was at bolton and they stood to lose 100k matchday takings

Sad news - what happens to the results in their previous games ?
Liverpool and Chelsea were in deep poo not so many years ago. As long as huge debts are serviced and/or a new owner rocks up then the issue carries on being ignored. I reckon a fair few Championship clubs are close to going bust.Rivalries aside, it is incredible that a club of their size and history can end up in this position. Surely unprecedented in the history of English football and demonstrates just how rotten the game has become.
Just me who thinks that statement is a scare tactic to get the parties to come to an agreement?
