The administrator stated that if a deal hadn’t been sorted today that he would have no choice but to start liquidation as the money had run out hopefully no news is good news and something is in place?

I think there's some major issues with how the EFL have allowed Bolton to start the season. Are they playing Saturday after all this mess? If the deal isn't done by Monday they'll have 4 players and a youth team till January, is there anyone playing them twice in that time for a guaranteed 6 points? and they'll be expecting more points off for the cancelled games

Whole thing is just a farce and if the deal isn't done by Monday they may as well just be relegated now and start planning for League 2 next season.

You can sign free agents at any point, so Bolton will be fine. They won't be liquidated, as I said at the time that statement from the administrator was just a scare tactic.

True but can you really see them having a League 1 ready squad? Until January everyone is basically going to get a free hit at them which then may become significantly harder if they have funds to strengthen in January, just seems to be skewing the competition of the league to me.

Despite us standing a slim chance of getting our first win on Saturday (if the game goes ahead that is), it's ludicrously unfair that a number of clubs including Gills will have played (and hopefully beaten) the Bolton kids, with the remainder of the division presumably having to play a decent-ish Bolton side should they manage to get out of their current predicament.

No, they'll still go down. But they won't be getting beat 5-0 every week.

Agreed they'll still go down, it's the other clubs fighting each end of the table they'll have an effect on.
It's not Southend who still wouldn't have money and have little prestige value to join, it's Bolton. They are likely to go from whipping boys to promotion form if they can secure players in January that you'd expect a non-basket case League 1 Bolton to sign.

If the preferred bidders, Football Ventures, succeed then by the sounds of it they won't be going nuts with spending on the playing side.

Thank fuck for that, we have players we weren't able to play yet (free transfers that were registered but as we couldn't pay them weren't able to play), so there may be a stronger squad

part of the statement:
"Even at the 11th hour when other parties were content to renege on their agreements, the Trust realised the very existence of Bolton Wanderers was at stake and were willing to find a compromise to save the club. It is a testament to their unflinching determination to do what was best for Bolton that we are able to complete the deal today.

"The Trust were forced to constantly compromise their position in the face of circumstances and demands which were wholly unreasonable. This says much about their determination not to allow Eddie's beloved Bolton Wanderers to suffer any longer at the hands of Ken Anderson.

"Sadly, Mr Anderson has used his position as a secured creditor to hamper and frustrate any deal that did not benefit him or suit his purposes. Thankfully, with the assistance of the Trust and others, we were able to overcome this obstacle.”

I would imagine the same could be said of Dale at Bury.

And you wonder why we both partly blame the EFL for some of the issues

Football Ventures, one of the main guys is a diehard wanderer....but you just never know

Good to hear there is a fan on board. That said, we were fan owned for over a decade and it was an absolute disaster.

Glad to hear you won’t be the second club going bust.

I'd say cheers, but part of me is still sad for Bury. Time for a salary and transfer cap. And an independant body to oversee the sale of clubs to new owners.

Imagine all owners had to place a bond with a football organisation, kind of like a deposit, and you get it back when you sell the club on to a responsible new owner, and can use it in times of need (for football reasons only)

There needs to be changes made, doubt there will though and with the way clubs are overspending these days there will be another 1 or 2 in the same situation by the end of the season.

Congrats Bolton fans.

2 things:
1. How wealthy are these owners?
2. Will Bolton be rightfully punished for cancelling their game Vs Doncaster? (I hope the EFL haven’t forgot)

I worked as an accountant for a few FCA regulated companies a few years ago who had “assets under management” (effectively they were investing other people’s money). Such a company has to commit a certain amount of equity capital depending on the quantity of assets under management, it can’t be done via loans. Any losses have to be counteracted by equity capital injection. They also have to have “three months’ trading expenditure” covered by equity capital too. The FCA was granted the authority to regulate companies with AUM and any firm breaking these rules can have their trading license removed.

While this isn’t exactly transferable to what we need, something along those lines would work. It basically stops owners from piling tons of debt on to a company.
