Why not wait six months and hold out for a better move?

I don't blame him for not signing for us. But he didn't stay at Bolton because he wanted to keep them up, if a bigger/top half club matched our offer he'd have been off.

Yeah, it wasn't down to the size of the club it was purely league position. Him coming out and saying that Bolton are a bigger club than us is complete bollocks.

They are a fair bit bigger than us in fairness.

Historically more successful, but when on a level playing field they're no bigger than us at all.

I wouldn't say they are much bigger. They are one of those clubs who get very very good attendances when they are doing well but back in the 80's when they were knocking about in the 3rd and 4th divisions they averaged around 4/5,000. I'd say before 1996 (their first season back in the top division for 20 years or so) they were a very similar size to ourselves and Bristol City. Used to be very good and had very high attendances in the 50's. The extended period in the Premier League has obviously helped them and kids growing up around that time are more likely to stick around now that they are struggling. If they go down it will be interesting to see how much the attendances drop (if they even still exist)

Edit: Although they have spent 71 seasons in the top division to your 9, maybe you're right haha

Yeah can't blame him for not being interested, only thing for me was given how close to the deadline it was he was stringing us along by coming down out of curtesy, could have respectfully said he wasn't interested, don't think I'd want to travel Bolton to Bristol and back if I didn't have to. The skeptic in my says that Bolton had a word with him saying to go so our attention was on him and not signing someone else.
That's it for me. Said he came to talk to us out of respect. If he doesn't want to join, fair enough, let us know we'll move on. Leading us on like he did is disrespectful and just taking the piss really

Aye, like I said then - more successful. Think they've got a few FA Cup's under their belt as well.

Bolton are bigger than us, by a distance too. 70 plus years in the top division, along with 4 FA cup victories. That's quite a record we're dealing with!

We've always been a nearly club and I can't see it changing unfortunately.

Admittedly I didn't do my research, I didn't realise the facts and their achievements.

Like I said - they're a more successful club than us, but when on a level playing field they're no bigger than we are.

But fair play - I'd have them higher up the table in this league in terms of club size now I know the facts rather than I would have before.

Yeah on a playing field now, we're certainly catching up.

Bolton were very successful in the 50s, along with PNE and Burnley! Think they might have put something in the Lancashire waters in those days.

Not Lancashire now, but even Bury grabbed an FA Cup back in those days!

looks weirdly quite small. Like an only slightly bigger Medway Stand or Wycombe's one. Think with seats it'll look bigger but I'm not really feeling awestruck rn

That's why I like it tbh, ones like Cardiff's look shite because its obvious how big it is with no one in it, yes our top tier won't be used a huge amount but it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

11,000 seats so Medway / Wycombe it isn't with all respect to them.

Same size as the east stand at Elland Rd, that was the biggest in Europe when it was built.

yeah I like those stands I dunno just looking at it it looks ordinary. Obviously it is way bigger, those stands are probs only about 3-5k but the one I compare it with in my head is the east stand and it just doesn't look anywhere near that. Probs look like the grotesque beast it is when the seats are installed.

If you come down when we play your lot the seats should have been started to be out in by then, whether that has an affect or not remains to be seen.

I agree, it doesn't look anything like as big as the two tiered one at Elland Rd but it's certainly a bloody huge stand.
I don't think the pictures do it justice TBH. When you sit opposite it, it's enormous!

The club are allegedly pandering to the Atyeo mob yet again and splitting the stand again next season cutting down on away availability. When we will have 23,000 seats in the home stands and they've only been in there 2 seasons plus the fact all of us in the SS have only had 1 year there (so wouldn't be against moving), I find this a scandalously dumb decision.
Shame on you City, a piss poor choice!

Just read it on OTIB, for fuck sake.

Like you said, they've pandered and prioritised the few in the Atyeo for what reason? Because they make a bit of racket for five minutes or so after we score a goal. I don't care what they want - it makes far more sense to stick them in the home ends. There's 23,000 seats available, I'm sure we can find a section somewhere where these 'hardcore ULTRAS' can carry on banging their drums.

Embarrassing decision. Dollymarie spearheaded it in the fans meetings it seems. I hate that fat, pretentious cow with a passion. She came into the thread announcing it with a great pride as well; don't think she's realised it's going to get people's backs up. Nice one.
