Just read it on OTIB, for fuck sake.

Like you said, they've pandered and prioritised the few in the Atyeo for what reason? Because they make a bit of racket for five minutes or so after we score a goal. I don't care what they want - it makes far more sense to stick them in the home ends. There's 23,000 seats available, I'm sure we can find a section somewhere where these 'hardcore ULTRAS' can carry on banging their drums.

Embarrassing decision. Dollymarie spearheaded it in the fans meetings it seems. I hate that fat, pretentious cow with a passion. She came into the thread announcing it with a great pride as well; don't think she's realised it's going to get people's backs up. Nice one.

They don't have any drums tbf

Don't get me started on the bloody she male Dolly FFS! did you see her reply to me? 'The poor little children might hear some bad words'! FFS bitch, football has been going on for fooking years before you and your dyke personality turned up and we're all alright-ish ;).
Can't stand the self important mare!
Yeah I did - like you said, the majority of us were nippers when we first went, if you take a kid into a football ground you have to expect them to hear some bad language, but then that's up to the parent to make sure they don't repeat it!

Can't wait for the 1,000 nob heads in there to get absolutely embarrassed by 2,700 Leeds and Wednesday fans (if they're still down here) vocally.

Spot on again JJH.
The thing about the SS being 'soulless and generic' tickles me. With a load of Williams standers in there this season, it was never going to be good. My hope was, get rid of the Williams lot back to the 'sleepy' stand and get the Atyeo lot moved back in to 'lead' the rest of us, it could have been extremely noisy.
Shite decision by the club, absolutely shite!

For years some fans said they couldn't make an atmosphere, now they want to stay in it :bl:

I would love to see the SS drown out the self important little oiks next season. Alas, I think we are going to have plenty of room in there so it won't happen. :(
The Atyeo / S82 is becoming an exclusive little club and nobody else can join so the atmosphere at the Gate will become even worse!

Don't quite get the reaction, who exactly is this inconveniencing? A group of fans have got together having a laugh, bit of a sing song, what's the problem? No City fans being displaced, 2700 is plenty big enough as an away allocation, and having home and away fans bouncing off each other can only help the atmosphere.

I'm Lew-T on OTIB, so I've seen it all and have found it a little embarrassing so I haven't commented on the situation.

Whatever happens, you can't please everybody but I think it's unfair and disrespectful to have a pop at the lads in the Atyeo.

Especially on here...

Why do they need to stay in there? It will decrease the revenue and the attendances next season...

You can't tell me there's logic in refusing Leeds an extra 1,300 fans next season when there are 6,000 empty seats in the away end, surely?

Little thing called home advantage. I frankly couldn't give a toss about giving Leeds or whoever else 3,000+

We should think about our home attendance more, not worrying about what the away allocation could be.

'We can't compete financially in this league'...

Yeah - go on then, turn away 1,000 fans every other week so a few muppets can get cheaper tickets and continue to sing for five minutes after we score a goal. Good idea.

So you're telling me, we will have 3,000 away fans most weeks? Apart from Wednesday and Leeds, what's the point?

Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle if they come down all would. Wolves, Brum, Cardiff, Reading etc all would if they were doing alright as well.

Can I ask, are you one of those in this section?

I don't see why we as a club should pamper and prioritise those people because they make a bit of a racket. It's fucking ridiculous.

Sorry if I've embarrassed you GG but I stand by my point that the SS /EE has been the historical home of our noisier element and a few of us (myself included) were temporarily excluded when the EE'ers moved into the Williams (tickets sold out) with the expectation that post rebuild they would come 'home'. Now the organised singers are staying in the Atyeo with even less seats / spaces, that's the rest of us screwed!
Seems very selfish to me when we will have swathes of empty spaces in the historical home end from this summer.
If you read my posts over there, I have been at pains to state that I blame the club and not the supporters BTW.

I think it's cowardly of you bitching on here with your close 'pals'

If you've got something to say which you clearly have, say it on OTIB where the majority will take your opinions on board.

Yeah, it's the clubs fault for giving into it - why should they? Like said above, it's incredibly selfish that they're staying in there; because the main reason being is the cheaper tickets. The club should move them out and find them somewhere else, there's going to be plenty of seats knocking about next season. Don't turn away revenue to appease a very small section of fans.

What are you on about?

I'm banned from OTIB, hence my comments about Dolly Marie.

We clearly aren't going to agree on this so shall we leave it there? I'm no fan of hers either, I just ignore her most of the time.

I'm not meaning to come across as aggressive or patronising or anything like that, I personally just can't get my head around it all, there's no sense or logic behind the decision. The club are solely to blame, but then I read on OTIB that they've been trying to pursue it in fans meetings.

But yeah, whatever suits you fella.

I take your point mate but surely a home advantage is vital? I don't want away supporters behind the goal in big numbers.

I'll leave it there now. We'll never agree on this!

For what it's worth don't we want the home sections to look full?

Or if we do sell the whole end to the away team won't that make for a better atmosphere?

The atmosphere down the gate is fucking awful. With home fans in the atyeo or not.
Either way don't think it's worth losing sleep over.

I agree massively - but if the financial situation really is as dire as made out and we need every penny to be able to spend and comply with FFP, then I just can't get my head around us turning fans away.

Yeah it will - I reckon it'd be ace with 4k away fans at AG, make for a proper atmosphere rather than when some teams were bringing 50 odd supporters to The Gate last season.

It'll also make the home ends look more full if we take those 1,000 or so from the Atyeo and stick them in in one of the other three stands.

I don't advocate 4,000 away fans at the Gate unless it's an exceptional situation. The chap who posted about 3,000 away fans totally isolated with full-ish home stands surrounding them understood where I was coming from. The problem with the current 'solution' is that the home support is divided across all 4 stands. IF the noisier element returned to the old EE position, any noise would spread more easily from there than it will as things stand.
I'm NOT criticising those currently in the Atyeo, far from it, but I am criticising the clubs' decision as it does appear to be a half baked cock up which has further distanced those in the Atyeo from the rest of us. I think it's a sad day for the 'excluded' 14,000 TBH with all respect to those in the Atyeo. The atmosphere now has zero chance of improving apart from in there.
To GG, I'm not arguing but having a discussion. No animosity from me at all, just sadness.

JJH, I think you're vastly overestimating Championship support if you think that more than 3K away tickets will be required on more than a handful of occasions. Leeds are the only team that average over 2700, no one else comes close. Bearing in mind we'll be one of the longer trips for most clubs as well.

All the clubs I mentioned would sell 4k if they were doing well. Look at the amount of teams that sell out for Fulham - people love coming to Ashton Gate because Bristol is a good night out.

Leeds, Villa and Sunderland or Newcastle if they come down are the only ones that would sell 4K come what may, and even that's not guarenteed if it's a Tues night or a game moved for Sky. There's a few others that might (Weds, Derby, Cardiff) if they're going well, if it's a Sat 3pm kick off. But even allowing for those ifs and buys you're still talking 17, 18 games a season where the fans that have been kicked out of the Atyeo are looking out at swathes of empty seats in there when the majority of clubs don't even get close. When we used to offer 2, 2.5k in the East End in the Championship that didn't sell out regularly.

I'm looking at the away figures at Ashton Gate from 2007/08 when we were a good side, new to the division and hadn't played a lot of the teams for a while.

Only 8 teams took over 1.5k. I don't think we are as big a draw as you think JJH.
