That day we brought around 500, so I think there is one but in the next block over
Away fans will have 3/4 of the stand from the summer and the internals are being changed (plus the tunnel is going I believe) so I would guess the rework under the stand will mean improved facilities for visiting supporters.

As Karl Pilkington once said… you’re better off living in the hole looking at the palace, than living in the palace looking at the hole.

Anyone know what is happening with floodlights? Is it a case they're being left till last and are they just being attached like the Dolman?

I would think so. I miss the days of pylon flodlights, especially on evening kick offs away.

Bris will need the temporary ones for their play off final so I would imagine they will be taken out after that.

You'll be waiting a while, there aren't any in the seating area of the South Stand.

Not stadium related but I've just been reading about Gerry Gow (the real one) and his cancer diagnosis. If Anyone can beat that dreadful disease it's Gerry Gow, the ultimate football warrior and a TRUE City legend.
Get well soon Gerry, my ultimate footballing hero.

I don't know if you were around then, I don't think you were but I'm sure you know all about him. He was the epitome of that '76 side, hard as nails but a bloody great footballer. I was genuinely gutted to read that.
Cheers mate. I wasn't, my Dad was around to live to tell the tales of Gow and that team in the top flight and whenever he's came up in discussion with any fans that were around at the time they've had nothing but good words to say about the guy. Sad, sad news.

Just heard about it too Tim. My absolute football hero....Hope that the battler that he was for us on the park will stand him in good stead for the battle to come. Can still remember those tackles....and no little skill too

I think the Atyeo makes it at the moment. There's a risk of a bit of blandness if they repeated the other end, for example.

Completely agree. South Stand (completely new build) and Dolman (refurbished) lack any character.

To be fair the re-development is looking good. I think anyone who has experienced that old away end could have told the Bristol City hierarchy that it's needed sorting for quite a while now.

I assume all of this is increasing the capacity of the ground and not just creating nicer stands?

The capacity increases to 27,000 MJA with no obstructions from any seat. It's not just about capacity though, it's the corporate stuff and concourses that we didn't have previously and the non match day revenue generating facilities which we didn't have either. All about turnover and generating further income.
As for our old East end, we knew it was crap but we absolutely loved it.
Visiting the Gate is a very different experience nowadays.

Fair comment although it does look tiny now the West stand is next to it. Photographs don't do the West stand justice, it's huge! I live 7 miles away from the stadium and I can see it from the end of my road.

Ah right, that all makes perfect sense.
Not overdoing capacity will ensure that it doesn't feel empty even with decent numbers in there and increasing the corporate side is key to football clubs making money on non-matchdays. The most difficult thing with a stadium is to make it profitable when there is no football being played there.

Not sure I will get to visit Ashton Gate with Vale anytime soon, but if I go ahead with trying to do the 92 then I will look forward to visiting the new Gate

Good luck doing that, it's very difficult. As I was supporting City when we dropped from the top league to the bottom one, I tried to do the '92' watching City and got close (84 at one time) but the relegation / promotion from L2 to the conference absolutely killed my chances.
Fair play if you can do it.

I'm doing my own version of the 92 next season, trying to see each of the 92 league clubs in league action in the space of one season. SHOULD be doable, but will be a lot of planning involved!
