I heard a rumour that Curle left cos of Nixon.
I think it's probably widely known that Curle felt fucked about by the board who wouldn't talk contracts with him or with the players he will have wanted to keep. There was that meeting they held about 'distractions' towards the end of the season.

The first three of those, not sure what would be wrong with Tim Sherwood.

Other then that he's an utter clown who rates himself up there as the next Dyche or Howe when in fact he's more of a Dean Saunders. Tactically inept. And he wears body warmers.

FFS, Shoddy.

Lee Clarke and now Tim Sherwood. Sort it out.

It’s gotta be Jansen out of those in the running now, surely? Take a risk.

No it is guaranteed to be Neil McDonald as he is the man Nixon wanted all along and he was always sitting with the directors remember even before Curle decided to leave lol.

After pressing the self destruct button on the Hopkin deal and realising that McDonald isn’t a popular choice amongst players, the club have now turned their attention to Davie Irons. Talks will take place tomorrow and they are hopeful to make the announcement by Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm just saying, a Championship team may scoff at Sherwood but I don't think he'd do too badly down in League Two. Not actually promoting him as manager though, Chris FGR is the one who brought him up.

I hear they're looking to appoint Pascal Chimbonda, with Kav as his assistant, Greg Fleming as keeper coach.

What would he do if we reached the play-offs (I know, fat chance of that) and we had a game on the same weekend as the FA Cup Final. He surely wouldn't miss his chance to shake hands with the winners on live TV for our sake.

I do have to laugh at how our board can just make the fan base hate them just by their selection process.

They just go and appoint their choice in first place, yes fans would be frustrated but would soon forget and accept.

Instead like their checkatrade fiasco they dither, drag, openly lie and try to soft soap the fans with a process to appease them which gets out in open as being fake.

Go for managers fans would want, deliberately work process for them to turn us down to then bring in their option which the fans by now have long since not wanted.

Poor guy now will need a very easy on paper start to season or fans will want him gone after a bad start

I’m not totally against McDonald, I’d rather have had other candidates, hopkin being one.

What I am against is the whole sham of an interview process when they knew all along they wanted to give the job to nixon’s choice despite 90% of the fans not wanting him.

Just completely taking the piss out of the paying customers. Bunch of Wankers.

Everything at our club is an utter sham, they make the Kremlin look like an open and transparent organisation in comparison. They say Putin learned the art of subterfuge with the KGB but actually what they don't know is he spent a summer working at Pirelli as a lad and picked up everything he knows from Nixon.

They got a bit of criticism years ago (really it started with Abbot's new contract, before then they were hardly loved and adored and there had been some questions over BlueYonder but the stability of Abbot's first four years meant they didn't have to make any huge decisions or do anything that would draw scrutiny on themselves) and have been defensive and secretive ever since. Like basically they decided, if the fans are going to criticise our decisions then we just won't tell them what our decisions are anymore.

Isn't that why Claire Winder quit as fan representative? Because she felt there was no point in her being on the board trying to represent the fans when everything they discussed was subject to confidentiality. She couldn't exactly ask fans for their responses to items on the agenda when the agenda was top-top-secret known to fewer people than the US nuclear launch codes.

The part I find saddest is just how p*ss poor our clubs set up and community effort is compared to tiny Curzon who I watch locally the last two seasons.

For example they do free season tickets for youth, pay what you want for students, they take stalls into colleges in Tameside run by volunteer fans to advertise it and sign people up.

Every Saturday morning the have a stall right in middle of Ashton town centre (allowed by council) to advertise games again with volunteers offereing ticket deals and trying to talk people into giving it a go.

They signed a deal with the metro that anyone who has a season ticket with them can get 20% off match tickets, the metro company advertise it here and there giving it Manchester City advertising.

They self funded 3G/4g pitches they own to generate extra weekly income

This is a club with 150 fans and probs at best 10 real hard working volunteers.......it will never grow, the non league scene is too spread out with 6 clubs in the same space as Carlisle and Man City is right next door, but boy do they try.

All while running to budget, part time and trying to play a full passing games. Manager fans and players all speak together via Facebook and Twitter, no them and us stuff.

It’s embarrassing to see the sheer effort they do compared to our uninterested set up.

It's a joke and I think they don't realise how good they have things compared to some clubs in terms of potential audience if only they would communicate properly. Like Lumsdon and Phillips are always saying on BBCRC, they treat the local media with contempt, who could forget Jenkins' outburst of 'get behind the club you c***' live on air. Most clubs here would kill to have the potential coverage in local media that we could have, yet they treat it as an obstacle rather than an opportunity.

Change a few names and you could be talking about quite a few football clubs and their boards. You are not alone by any means in thinking that your 'owners' are taking the piss when it comes to how they treat the clubs supporters and take their support for granted.

we've just announced Neil McDonald as our new assistant manager. Seemingly he turned down the Carlisle job (but that could be hearsay)

I tried to find a photo of Carlisle fans celebrating, but there aren't any.

An utter joke though if as some have suggested, Nixon deliberately changed the terms of Hopkins' offer to get him to reject it and clear the way for him to bring McDonald in.

I know you don't want McDonald in but wouldn't it be quite worrying that someone's turned it down to be a number 2 at a side in the same division? Also was Hopkin genuinely interested? Noticed he's the favourite for the Shrewsbury job now.

I read that McDonald had previously been sacked after 1 game about 10 years ago, what was that all about then?

That’s a bit of a relief, though Russell Slade out of nowhere into favourite is a bit of a worry (thankfully the betting on these markets is usually based on nothing but money placed).

A few reliable sources on our end said he was all set to join until our board lowered the money they’d already offered.

I'm not sure how thrilled McDonald would have been to return, possibly given whatever's happened in the past, both a decade ago when he was last employed by us and also a few years ago when he was in the frame for the job perhaps it was something he still had enough misgivings about to prefer the opportunity to link up with old furniture-face down in Swindon.

Hopkin, from what I've heard had accepted an offer that was actually for less money than he is currently on at Livingston. I wonder how much more patience Livi will have with him though, he may have done an excellent job for them but they must be thinking 'right either you're staying or you aren't give us an answer'.

McDonald hasn’t turned us down. It didn’t get as far as offering him the job.

If Slade gets the job, that’s me done with watching Carlisle United.

It didn’t get as far as CUFC offering him it.

He was mouthing off in Carlisle weeks ago that he had the job, but then we offered it to hopkin before completely fucking the deal up.

McDonald was still interested this week, but the club didn’t get as far as offering him it. Whether they would have it NM had waited a few days I don’t know.

We had McDonald here under Peter Jackson and seemed the brains behind our improved performances and, from memory, good form in the short time he was here.
