We had McDonald here under Peter Jackson and seemed the brains behind our improved performances and, from memory, good form in the short time he was here.

David Holdsworth, 20/1!
He was a good manager back in the day, it's just events since then that have turned most United fans off him, seen as being too intertwined with the mess in the boardroom to be the breath of fresh air that is needed, that and his fairly uninspiring career since leaving us. He'll probably do well with Swindon.

‘Carlisle met two boss candidates yesterday. And David Holdsworth due to join in a general manager type role’ - from Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Shambles.

Who the fuck is Alan Nixon? And why are we hearing the news from a Lincoln fan when nobody on our club forum or in the local media has said anything yet?

Holdsworth probably just in the odds due to him living nearby in the past and I bet he applied because he’s deluded SURELY!!!

Carlisle fans better hope so, Slade is fav now which is not much better!

Holdsworth certainly has the right texture for a position at Carlisle.

Nothing on it besides the words of a self-described transfer rumour guru from the tabloids whose twitter account is locked (which doesn't really make him look any more like a credible source). I'm calling bollocks on it.

He's the ultimate scatter gun approach when it comes to transfers. Probably signed 100 players during his Mansfield and Lincoln jobs.

Last thing we need then. We still have some decent players left in our squad, the likes of Devitt, Hope, Kennedy and Jones and with a reduced budget we need someone who will make the best of that and use the money to strengthen in the areas that need strengthened, not fob valuable assets off just because they aren't their players.

In two short months our owners have taken us from a situation where we could go into next season with only a handful of changes needed to ensure a promotion challenge to a situation where we're looking at out of work managers wondering who is least likely* to get us relegated.

Bravo

*FWIW, Slade is most likely.

What’s the quickest way to get to the Conference?
Who was manager of Grimsby Town last winter when Carlisle shoveled a mountain of snow off their pitch and surrounding roads in a desperate attempt to keep their match on against their comically hapless opponents?

That was your caretaker manager wasn't it? And Jolley was in the stands IIRC?

Ah yeah it was...a quick check of the calendar reminds me that this match was in March?! Wtf, did it really snow in March? This was shortly after the Cambridge match and I was wearing just a Town shirt at that. Let me paraphrase that question then...

Which Grimsby Town manager was responsible for the comically hapless side that Carlisle were so desperate to play against that they shoveled a mountain of snow off their pitch?

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
If we were going for these options then just give bloody Edmo the job.

We have made a right mess of what was a simple task

I think Edmo specifically said he doesn't want it... smart guy.

I wonder how the bookies work. They have Slade as favourite for the Carlisle job and also Carlisle at 4/1 for promotion. Surely they can't both happen.

I remember well the snow being in March. I have a photo of Rickerby Park from then looking like the Siberian tundra, and was just creating a montage yesterday with another photo taken in exactly the same spot a couple of weeks ago, only ten weeks after the first photo and with flowers, cows, green, looking like a hayfever sufferer's nightmare.

Be prepared to hear the words 'building blocks' in interviews after every defeat.

Sounds like Kav and the word 'intelligence'.

Do you not think though, it's a bit much of a coincidence that on the day speculation mounts over the next Carlisle manager; Zinedine Zidane announces he is leaving Real Madrid?

If Slade gets this job, then he is one smooth talker. Get ready for training sessions lead by someone else while he does his PowerPoints in the office, Sky TV and dinner tables for the players (!) and mysteriously long trips to Ladbrokes *cough cough* I mean the office.

Any talent that this guy had disappeared long ago. On saying that, knowing our luck, Carlisle will still finish above us.

Providing that he actually gets the job.

Nah you've missed the boat on that one, Zidane has already been tapped up for the Salford City job.

He'll have to get used to doing his presentations on Open Office.

He’s a journalist. Usually very reliable with his info.

This fucking up the hopkin deal and now likely to appoint Holdsworth and Slade is leaving me so underwhelmed. If it happens then as I said further up I’m done with going to watch CUFC. They won’t be getting another penny from me.
