We don't know, since this journo is still the only source. Presumably if it was decided this morning as he claims it would have been announced by now.

Someone on our forum sums it up best when he says he is now dreading every time he goes on line, worried that we'll have announced our manager and it'll be a shan appointment. I feel that way too, like every time I see I have an alert on here I'm worried it'll be HG or someone confirming the club have appointed Slade or Holdsworth or Clarke or whoever.

Basically the first person to be linked with us was Lee Clarke and if you can believe it, with the exception of Hopkin, they've been getting steadily worse since. In a weeks time we'll be wishing if only they'd appointed someone of the caliber of Slade.

Well apparently Slade’s son has pretty much just confirmed he’s got the job on Twitter.

If he’s announced that is an absolute disgrace, and one of the worst we could have made. Completely taking the piss out of the fans Russell fucking Slade.

If it is slade he will be gone by mid November i think, he'd need a hell of a good start to win the fans over or the atmosphere is going to turn nasty very quickly (and that isnt going to be because of Slade, he's just been shoved into that position)

the ironic thing is i think we then may appoint Hopkin who i think may go to Shrewsbury and be sacked from that job within a few months.......that is a tough job to go into with them probably losing a few good players and having one of their best seasons.

of course in typical this current board style it would mean getting the person we wanted once his 'winning arrogance' has gone and the fan appeal of his is lost......things which could have giving the team a boost at start of season.

Since Slade did a good job with ourselves and Cardiff, he has really, really let himself down.

He needs a board with a bit of patience it seems, He can come across as a bit of a dickhead at times, which despite his good spell with us, rubbed a few people up the wrong way.

He seems to be a man who needs the right sort of people alongside him backing him, because at Coventry, Charlton and Grimsby he has been appalling.

If true though then I'm genuinely fascinated to know what was said at his interview to convince six people (one of whose last managerial appointment took Huddersfield to the Premiership) he was the best candidate.

I at least renewed mine already so if they do appoint Slade or any other uninspiring manager and fans reluctantly trudge down to the ticket office to renew anyway, my renewal won't be one of the stats that they claim shows an upsurge in season ticket sales after the appointment.

Press conference currently ongoing. If there's any truth in the Slade rumours then it'll be to announce him as the manager, but it could well be just another update about how they're involved in a thorough selection process (which right now, I'd welcome).
