Oh bugger of Leeds. DC will eventually move onto bigger and better things but with our new ownership, I can't help this would be the wrong move for him. Clarke doesn't seem to have the contacts (yet) and wouldn't be given the time needed to succeed at Leeds.

If he wanted to go, I would understand, especially as I remember saying in the conference 'I won't leave this club until they're back in league 1' - well he's done that now, but Leeds are such a farce with managers at the moment wanting instant success, something where I feel Clarke isn't that type of manager, especially not at this level yet. I also don't believe he'd do it to his current players and would stay loyal to them. In honesty, this could potentially work out well for us with the club offering him a new deal with undoubted extra investment. As long as he stays, I can only see this being a good thing

Leeds Utd, even with their current owner, are still a big club most managers from League 1 would move to I imagine.

As for Wael, I'm still not convinced that he has the money the optimistic gas heads say he has. Seems very difficult to find out how much money he, not his family, genuinely has.

He's got plenty mate and he's big mates with Mezut Ozil( I don't know why that's relevant but I thought I'd just mention it anyway)

It would be a massive jump for Clarke, and obviously the lure of Leeds is going to be tempting for him but looking at the bigger picture I think he'd be better off stopping at Rovers. He's already got 2 promotions on his CV, and there's nothing stopping a club like Bristol Rovers finishing in a comfortable finish next season or even maybe challenging for a top 6 position which would only further enhance his stock. 12 months ago he was dealing with Conference players and ways of working, 12 months later moving up to work with Championship players might be a bit too soon for him.

Didn't realise he also has 4 promotions with Salisbury before they liquidated, quite impressive for his age.

If he holds on 6 to 12 months he'll get a decent size Championship club where he'll be given time, I don't begrudge him a move but I'd rather he didn't move to a club where in all likelihood the owner will get rid in a few months.

If the owner was different, Leeds is a no brainer. Huge club, and DC would do well there if given time. As it is, it's a huge risk for him and I think he's better to hang on, like Gary Rowett did at Burton.

Really? What if he starts life in L1 with the gas badly? Might be the only offer he ever gets to manage team the size of Leeds.

Compared to us mere mortals, absolutely. But does he have the sort of money to really make a difference in football? If he truly is that wealthy, surely it would be easy to find out.

We'll have to see but so far he's had enough money to buy the club and wipe out our worrying, significant debts. I think it also depends on what you mean by "make a difference" . Most Gasheads know that we aren't suddenly going to become a club like Man city but if he can get the stadium built whilst we remain competitive then it's all good. As Gashead has said previously we'll just have to wait to see if he's the real deal but I believe he is.

Yep, I believe he'll do well enough here to warrant a Championship club (perhaps slightly smaller, but slightly more stable than Leeds) at some point over the next year or so - he'll be given the time to succeed. Whilst he may have started poorly in both seasons we've had him as manager he's always adapted to the league and recovered.

People who said he won't adapt to L1 said the same about L2 and the Conference.

It's the Al qadi family that owns Rovers. Wael, two brothers and their father. Wael is the President and clearly the one who's project this mainly is, however the family have always been football fans. The whole family as a whole is very wealthy, but guessing Waels experience for the Jordan Fa and being a fifa representative is why he was put in charge. The family as a whole is very wealthy but although I don't think they will through shedloads at the club, I do think when necessary the money will be available. Think long term it will be a case of trying to develop their own players via the academy. Darrell seems to have their respect and expect (within limits) they will go as far as they can to match his ambitions to keep him.

Phil Hay reckons Rovers and Leeds will come to an agreement shortly for Clarke. Fantastic news.

I've never seen you so happy! Well not for a couple of seasons :bg1:
Anyone in mind to replace DC, if he leaves, now that Mourinho is going to Man U? Van Gaal, Guardiola ;) , Warnock, McClaren? Dare I say Cotterill?

I've always liked to see how Paul Tisdale would fare with a bigger budget. He'd be a good fit for Rovers.

If he goes, I'd want us to avoid the 'experienced' heads and go for a similar manager to DC, even if it means going down the pyramid. Young, ambitious manager who gets a good team spirit going, encourages decent football and demands everything from the team until the last minute.

Immediate names which come to mind are Mikey Harris (DC's other management partner at Salisbury, youth coach at Pompey now), Jay Saunders at Maidstone (3 promotions in 5 years, promoted to the Conference last week, similar age to DC) and Neal Ardley at the Wombles.

DC hadn't even managed in the Conference when we hired him, so I have no problem with the lack of experience at L1 level.

Darrell's done the hard bit of getting us back into a respectable position, so I don't begrudge him the move. But if he moves on its about Rovers building an identity based on what has been successful for us.

EDIT: If we went with Stewart and Yates as a management team, I'd like to see they have the badges. I'm not convinced they do...

Seems like we're going to agree to the £250k compensation, which doesn't seem like us. Just got to hope and pray he gets off to a decent start to buy some time if it all goes through.

He'll still need a lot of support in the transfer market though...we're currently quite a few players short of a top six push, which is apparently the aim, and tricky for a new manager like this to try and achieve. All seems daft as we've been as mid-table as you can get the last few years, and there's no obvious sign that we're going to do anything different this summer.

Meanwhile in Rotherham the rumours going around today is that Alan Stubbs will be appointed as new manager very soon. Dont know what to make of that if true, won Scottish fa cup this season with Hibs but failed to get promoted from a micky mouse league.

I hope he does get it, done a great job there, can bring his Celtic and Everton contacts aswell Cummings, McGinn and Stokes.

Evans' latest comments are interesting, ramps up the pressure even more on the new guy if the fans are behind Evans. If Cellino doesn't like criticism you can see why he wants rid. Fair play to Evans, he's been treated awfully regardless of what happens now.

He's chatting shite though, as per. He's shown nothing to suggest he could get us up really. Some fans want him to stay for continuity etc but I just haven't warmed to the guy. He's done a job but nothing out of the ordinary.

All of our managers have been treated shockingly because by his own admission, Cellino doesn't like to do the dirty work himself so gets other people to sack them or just ignore them (the last two managers to finish a season with us have been in this exact same situation). I have less sympathy for Evans because he was in contact with Cellino before Rosler was sacked so it's only a taste of his own medicine really.

Looks like Nigel Pearson is in pole position for our vacancy.

Be happy with that. He'd sort out the perennial bottlers in our squad.
